Maybe one of the best views of the island. It's advisable to go early in the morning, both because there are less people and because usually in early morning you find the best weather. Keep an eye on the webcam before going there, to be sure it's not too cloudy. Be aware that after 8.30 am, rented cars cannot reach the viewpoint anymore and you must use the bus.

On a rainy/foggy day it's going to be quite difficult to have the full view from this viewpoint, but on a sunny/clear day it will blow your mind!! What an amazing landscape! All the green and mountains surrounding you, with beautiful lakes and the sea in the horizon! Such a beautiful island! To get the most out of this place I would highly advise to go down the trail up to the lake, it's not easy! It's a moderate difficulty path going down hill that could take you roughly 20-30min depending on the weather conditions. But once you get there the reward is amazing! The lake is super calm and you can walk around the shoreline to explore the area more in depth! Enjoy!

I read that this is the best view on the island but I disagree. Also locals say that it is constantly in clouds. We had the chance to see it clear but 5 minutes later it was all foggy. We waited another 30 minutes and the clouds disappeared. So prepare to be patient. I read that between 9 am and 7 pm cars are not allowed and instead there is a shuttle available. We visited in October and we were lucky to access by our car. I guess this is valid for strong season only. There is a parking before the miradouro.

Ok, so this one I have to say it: I am from here, São Miguel island in the Azores (Portugal) and this is my favorite view of the island (controversial opinion, lol, usually people like more the Sete Cidades lake view). The reason why I like this more is the fact that there isn't any roads or people living next to the lake (because in the other big lakes over here there is a town) so it's a lot cleaner and pure what I love. Just know that this is the more hard view to see because of the constant clouds all year long even in the summer.

It is absolutely amazing landscape! Surrounding you are lakes and green mountains with the ocean in the horizon. There are 2 ways to go down to the lakes, when you get there, the scenery is stunning. it’s really worth visiting.

Lagoa do fogo is the second most famous landscape (just after sete Citades) in the island of Sao Miguel. To keep the pristine place calm from traffic rented cars are not allowed to reach the viewpoint most of the daytime. So you can leave rented car in a parking and take the shuttle provided. The shuttle is hop on hop off and can leave you at any of the three viewpoints. The views are wonderful, personally I like them even more than Sete Citades.

Great spot. When I went to see Lagoa do Fogo we knew there was fog. Still we needed to go from south to north so it gave it a chance. At the top of the hill on the most famous spot it was impossible to see anything. However here it was a lot better and the fog passed away which made it easier to see. There is a path to go down close to the water. Together with my 9 years old boy we went down. On the way up we counted the stairs. There are 446 stairs. 😬
