Great location and amazing interiors faithful to the original house back when it was producing wine. Outstanding choice of wines from the Setúbal wine region showing a complete portfolio with almost all the producer of the region and including the famous “moscatéis”. The big downside is the service where the antipathy reins and the lack of energy to help beyond the minimal required shadows all the other good features. The wine service is basically a few wines that are at serving temperature and anything else that you might want to try you must have it at room temperature with no effort from the staff to mitigate that. In the end this spot should be the facade for the tourism in the region and at some situations might leave the wrong impression due to what was mentioned before.

If you are in the neighbourhood of Palmela or want to choose a good weekend plan, the Casa Mae dos vinhos is the place to go, to try local wines and food. But please try a selection of Moscatel from Setubal Peninsula. You won’t regret and will never forget. The prices are very acceptable. Enjoy

This is a local cafe/wine bar with a huge selection of wines that are made in this region. You can have a wine tasting of 5 varieties for well under 10 euro. Everything we were served was delicious and you can buy a bottle for there or to take home.

Visited 7 years ago and had a rather weak experience with disinterested staff. Visited again 10 days ago and totally different! Motivated, enthusiastic, great advice and very approachable. Knowing Moscatel de Setubal reasonably well, we asked the gentleman to select one of a very fresh, more acidic style and one more of old tradition. He loved the challenge and came up with two great examples. Highly recommended. BTW, he has perfect English skills so it was possible to have a good discussion on the wines.

An excellent facility showcasing the entire range of wines from Setubal and Palmela. Many of the wines are available for tasting. The building was a former winery and still featured many quirky original elements on the winery. If you’re heading out to see the local wineries this is a good place to start.

Pleasantly surprised! We tried 5 wines for 6eu good quality regional products and decent prices. Definitely recommend.

So you should definately start your wine tour here. They are an independent cantina for all the region’s wine houses. I did a tasting and through that i learned where to go to find more pf the wine i like.
