What a hidden gem!! We arrived in Sintra late with limited dinner options. We absolutely love Indian food and were so happy Bengal Tandoori was open and eager to serve us. The food was phenomenal and plentiful. We ordered vegetable samosa, cheese and garlic naan, peas pulao special, paneer karahi, and vegetable kurma. Certainly way too much food for two but our bellies were so happy with all of the delightful flavors. Everything was delicious but our favorite was the cheese and garlic naan and paneer karahi 😋. The service was great. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!! You will not be disappointed. ETA: we came back our second night in Sintra! We basically ordered the same except we swapped the vegetable kurma for paneer tikka masala. The owner recognized us on our way out and thanked us for our review :)

We arrived in Sintra late on our first day of the trip - and were pretty much dropped off right in front of this establishment with our luggage. Being later in the evening we decided to eat here first before going to the hotel. What a great decision. THe staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the menu was extensive. We had a good beer (and white wine) and the Butter Chicken was excellent. We came back at least 2 more times during our 5 days in Sintra - I definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place was very well hidden away from the main hustle and bustle of this very touristy town. Luckily they had a sign near the church in the thoroughfare. The sign contains a lot of their specials which seemed decent compared to a lot of the other tourist traps around the Sintra National Palace. I decided to check them out after quickly checking a few of the top reviews to ensure it is at least 4 stars. I had to walk on and then under the ground floor to some apartments and around the corner before I was able to find the entrance. Yep it's safe to say it would had been almost impossible without the signs. The restaurant was pretty nice looking on the inside, it's like those pubs that you see that would normally be heritage listed else and it does have that feel about it. It has some pretty nice art around the dining room as per my photos. It felt pretty cost and warm, which was good as it was raining outside. The place was surprisingly quite big for such a hidden away place where there was at least ten or so tables. I was allocated to a smaller table nearest to the front of the dining room. Im not able to get network signals here, though luckily there is a wifi which was decent to allow me to stay unbored and wait for the rain to subside a little. However there doesn't appear to a power point in the room that I was in but there might be in the other room. I ordered the mango chicken which is my favourite meal back at home, because I like the sweetness mixed into the curry. It was a little annoying that you have pay an additional €2 for a rice as this is normally included in Australia. This comes to a total of around €11.95 which is substantially more expensive than Australia as it's normally AUD$11 for two curries and rice. Other than the price, curry itself was really small for the price although they try to balance this by stacking the rice in a disproportionate manner as per my picture that makes you full. This is generally a no no in restaurant etiquette, my parents owned a restaurant previously and doing this makes customers really unhappy as there is little value for the amount you pay. The taste however was pretty good, though small in quantity. I would encourage the owner to add more and not be so stingy with the serving. This will get you to that 5 rating as everything else was pretty good. The price by comparison to other restaurants in the area was better though still expensive. Worth coming to if you can't find a cheaper place and in need of some warmth!

Delicious meal in the heart of Sintra. Perfect way to burn off 20k steps after all the castles and palaces. The staff was friendly and attentive. Place was relatively affordable too. We arrived hungry and left super happy. Would highly recommend if you have a craving for Indian food while in Sintra.

I have been to this restaurant the same number of times I went to Sintra, and this says it all (it has been more than 3). Great food, plenty it, good prices, they have also menus and everytime I just left from there.. Happy. I have tried other Indian restaurants in Lisbon and there is no comparison. Very central, too. 👌Thank you!

I wish I could have leftovers for days. The restaurant proposes either a ‘a la carte’ menu or combos which are filling and de li cious. Individual dishes cost around 9-10€ whilst the combos cost between 12-14€ in December 2023. I had the vegan combo of samosa + rice + tarka dal + beverage but switched out the rice for vegan naan bread for a little extra cost. Insane. I will dream with those lentils. Consider that this is indian food, spice is spice, so if you’re a no-go for spice, be very clear on the no spicey food. The team is very kind, polite, proper, know their menus well. The place itself is a little on the duller side, but the food makes up for it 100%. Thank you!!

We liked this restaurant very much! We went to it every day of our stay in Sintra. Very pleasing prices and friendly staff. And the most important is tasty food. We all are really satisfied! It's in a quite place almost at the central street. Advise this place to everyone who is looking for tasty, interesting and not expensive food!

Hidden gem of Sintra. We were thrilled to find this restaurant down an alley off the main square with a nice shaded outdoor porch to take a break from the sun. Food was delicious, menu was extensive with both South Asian and other cuisines, and portion sizes and prices were good. Servers were attentive and knowledgeable and offered incredibly helpful suggestions, and they were able to cater to our allergy needs. We got the butter chicken, prawn jalfrezi, chicken madras, and mango lassi- all of which were phenomenal. The prawn jalfrezi was a fan favorite, but all three dishes were great. It would be a shame to miss out on this restaurant!

A little hard to find but worth the search! Had the butter chicken, jeer rice and garlic naan! Absolutely delicious and would come back again. Huge space with a terrace that’s tucked away so it’s nice and quiet. Server was very polite and fast service! Nice break from Portuguese cuisine if you’ve been in Portugal for awhile

I don’t usually leave many reviews but my partner and I both thought this was one of the best Indian restaurants we’ve ever been to – everything was so fresh, homemade and incredibly tasty, the service was great and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the vegan options on the menu, and the terrace in the back was the perfect setting to enjoy our meal. Highly recommended!

Needed to find something vegetarian and found it. Best Indian I ever had. Cute service and everything was great. If I will come here again I will eat here. Also, the terrace is quite because it's not on the tourist street so that's a plus.

We ordered a mixed tandoori that comes with rice and some garlic naan bread for lunch. The food was perfect. Their service was very good and quick. I highly recommend this place. Mr. Sukbir is a very nice person who served us.

A secret gem in Sintra! Meal deals, which is perfect if you are on a budget. Lovely terrace out the back hidden from the busy streets. Add it to your list!

I don’t know how good the foods are there, but the service and attitude were bad. They did not even accept the non-EU vaccination certificate accepted by EU offices, and refused to look at the text about the details implementation. So they were refusal of service based on racial difference.

This place has a mix of good things and bad things. I ordered a combo which included Naan Bread, Dal Makhni, Rice and a drink so I had ordered a coke zero. The meal costed 13 Euros and I ordered a veg Samosa as well The good things : 1. The Dal Makhani was really tasty. I had very less expectations but it did exceed my expectations. 2. The service was really good. The staff was courteous and the food was served pretty fast. 3. It is located well, a couple of minutes from the centre. 4. The quantity is really good. So much food for 13 Euros was worth it. Bad things : 1. There was constant drilling going on right besides the restaurant. It was really disturbing. 2. The quality of rice was not great. It was not Basmati but a low quality rice. 3. The samosa was the biggest disappointment. It seemed to be one of those frozen ones available in the market and not something they make on their one. I didn't enjoy it at all. Overall, it was a decent experience.

You have to try!! Tucked away behind the square. Don't be put off by the roadside menu offers. Amazing welcome, friendly chat and even managed to have dishes adapted. The menu is extensive and very authentic. Portions very generous. Feels very family orientated. Would definitely return..

An unassuming looking restaurant, but the terrace setting, we sat under plane trees and the view of the narrow street below with ancient surrounding buildings was charming. Excellent food, the waiter was really friendly and interesting to speak to. Good choice of dishes and as I am vegetarian and my son loves very hot and spicy curries we were asked how spicy/hot we would like our food. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Need a halal fix while visiting Sintra? Check out Bengal Tandoori Sintra, they serve Indian and Italian food. They showed us the halal certificate. 🙌🏽 We had: ▪️Chicken Samosa - this was crispy and fresh tasting but it was lacking flavour. The sauces helped a bit. ▪️Onion Bhaji - these were crunchy and flavoursome. ▪️Chicken Tikka - this was alright but chicken wasn't juicy. The bed of onions and cabbage weren't cooked enough. ▪️Garlic naan - this wasn't very garlicky and it was a bit too thin in the middle, hence it was crispy rather than fluffy. ▪️Green salad - basic salad, thankfully it wasn't just onions. However there was no dressing, a wedge of lemon wouldn't go a miss. ▪️Beef Vindaloo - my friend had this and loved it. The beef was delicious, tender and full of flavour. It was nice pit stop while exploring Sintra and they were super hospitable.

Trying to find a place to eat in Sintra when we discovered this fantastic place. The food was excellent in every way, fresh, well made and delicious. The value was excellent with their combination specials and the menu was very extensive with all kinds of variety and even something kids would like while adults can enjoy find quality Indian dishes. The waiter was exceptional and cannot recommend this place too much. A little hard to locate on a small street but find it and will be glad you did.

Awesome Indian food, well priced, clean environment. A little off the main area in Sintra, but worth the little walk down a path or two.

We really enjoyed the food here. It was served on a pot warmer using a candle, so you could enjoy it slowly without getting cold. Also the service was really friendly.

We eat there dinner five days in a row. Their butter chicken, chana veg dish, dal tadaka , madras chicken, lassi, raita, masala chai and roti. All are fresh and excellent taste. Very friendly staff and good portions and value for the money. The yogurt is one of the best I have eaten. Highly recommend if anyone looking for spicy food in Sintra.

Delicious food, great service and a bit off the path in Sintra. We loved the chicken Tikka and the rice as well. The Sangria was also very delicious and just what we needed after a long day of sightseeing.

The food here is really good. We decided to eat here both nights we were in Sintra because the Indian food was authentic and very good, and they had good options for children, too. Very reasonably priced, too.

A wonderful surprise. The food, selection and prices are great. At first we were a bit put off because of the various food selections: an Indian restaurant making Italian and other food? I had the chicken mango curry and my partner had spaghetti and we both really enjoyed it. Think we'll need to try their pizza...
