I spent a whole day with friends who were staying there for a week. They couldn't speak highly enough about the facilities. They had their 2 year old with them.It is a perfect environment for young families. The facilities are excellent for all the family both outdoor and indoor. The staff are very friendly and professional, the food is fresh, healthy and so tasty, with a choice to indulge for those who want. The entire complex is beautifully laid out, with so many family friendly things to do, the kids will never be bored. It is expensive but if you want a family holiday to remember, you won't go far wrong.

Clara and the staff at the reception was super friendly and very accommodating. The price is very reasonable and the food delicious. After a long flight and being jetlag it was so good to relax when arriving while the kids could play. We had a great time, the nanny service was excellent, many thanks to Catarina and the kids club as well thank you Marta, the environment was safe for my kids. Happy parents

Great property and set-up for families, facilities were great and removed all the stress as a parent. Service generally was good, front desk exceptional, kids club spot on, however the food and beverage team was disappointing for 5 star service levels. Evidenced by a couple of different occurences, at lounge bar when I ordered a drink off their menu in the afternoon they said it wasn't available. Secondly, the up selling of wine without knowledge of the wines was done in a naive way, not like experienced waiters would do. The service we received for a dinner at M bar was very amateur(missing cutlery, entree and main served together for all of us, never came back to take our desert order we had to go up and order ourselves) all things that can be easily fixed but didn't reflect the rest of our service experience. Other than this a great base and property to explore the region and I'm sure they'll smarten up the few teething issues around service I mentioned, for summer peak. Post covid the upskilling of new staff is a challenge for all tourism operators.

Great resort, especially for families. They are really keen on giving the kids a good time. We liked the food, a lot of choice in multiple restaurants. Food quality was very good: fresh and multiple healthy options. Pizza’s were delicious. The personnel was overall very kind. We stayed in one of the four suites. Only minus regarding hygiene that is important to us: full Carpet in the room. We enjoyed the wellness with heated indoor pool. It’s great that children are allowed in the wellness. The opening hours of the wellness: 10 am - 7 pm, we felt this opening period perhaps should be extended. Playground and kidsclub were terrific.

Incredible service. You may or may not like these hotels focused on kids (as besides yours it’s also full of other people’s kids!) but in its kind it’s amazing. Staying Ali e at the hotel with my 2y old I had some logistical troubles during my stay and the staff went through great lengths to make life easier for me. My daughter loved the baby club hours in the morning and everything was an adventure. When I forgot something at the hotel after my departure, again staff was incredibly helpful and everything got sorted out in the end. I highly recommend the Martinhal Cascais (and thanks to staff & management If reading this!)

The staff is very friendly and they would deserve the 5 stars. The loccation is a 50 minute walk from Cascais, but not the nicest route to walk with children. The hotel is child friendly but not specifically built for children if you ask me, for example the M Bar does not have an elevator and that is a setback with a baby. On top there is no supervision at the pools. Furthermore the spa could use an update with only cold showers and a lot of green dust on the wooden planks, a water machine for days with a sign out of order. If you claim to be 5 star luxury it can not be this way. Furthermore the rates of the food at the pool bar are way out of line with Portuguese food prices; a sandwich for 16,50 euro and a cola zero for 4,50 euro is really too much. All in all, with a room rate of well over 500 euro a night (rack rate 589 euro in july for the deluxe room which is the simplest of all rooms with breakfast), you may expect something, but it certainly did not meet those expectations. It is also very difficult for staff to live up to, given the high rates. From our perspective, it was simply not worth it and would not return with those rates. Yes there are facilities for children and they will have good fun, but you can find it elsewhere at a way better price quality ratio.

Overall, a disappointing experience and we would not recommend it. While touted as a five star resort, the general experience is more that of a dated four star hotel. We want to be as balanced as we can in our review so that it is useful to fellow travelers. With that in mind: The Pros: 1. The grounds within the estate are well designed and beautifully maintained. 2. The rooms are generously sized and comfortable. 3. The entire resort is clearly geared towards children, from the baby-proofing designs to the children’s facilities. (It’s hard to imagine why anyone would stay here if they weren’t bringing their kids.) 4. The gym and pool facilities are adequate, while not being exceptional. The Cons: 1. With the exception of certain individuals, the general service culture did not shine through. For example, in their online check-in process, we stipulated an early check-in at 12pm to accommodate our infant’s midday nap. Having concluded the check-in process we did not receive any further comms from the hotel, leaving us to assume that there were no issues with our requested check-in time. On arriving, the receptionist challenged us initially, telling us that they don’t guarantee early check-ins. All this in the midst of managing a clearly frustrated infant, crying loudly in the lobby. They eventually found a solution for us, but we could have avoided the initial friction - it set a terrible tone. There was also no one at the entrance to welcome us or help with our bags. 2. Wi-Fi. The wifi experience was patchy and slow, especially in the rooms. The hotel’s excuse was that they were experiencing general problems with their wifi. One wants to be forgiving but in reality guests have a reasonable expectation that these kinds of issues don’t occur during their stay, especially at a 5 star hotel. 3. Air-Con. We struggled to get to get the aircon to work in our room. The staff were helpful, but the solution involved a technician coming to our room at 22:30 with a ladder. Again, we could see that the individuals were trying to be helpful, but these kinds of things just shouldn’t happen as a so called five star resort. 4. The gym. While the equipment was acceptable, the gym and spa area in general were a little sad. Aircon didn’t work in the gym, there was no Sanitiser or cleaning materials. There was never a receptionist at the spa area and the gym was poorly maintained - lots of sweat marks all over the floor; questionable sanitation, etc. 5. General lack of attention to detail. This is a little more abstract, but we just felt that there was a lack of the small things that make for a truly memorable five star experience. For example, no complimentary items in the room, like water; no special turn down service; some of the basic equipment like bicycles we not complementary, in fact they were exorbitantly priced. Nothing big on its own, but all adding up to a sub-par experience that ironically wouldn’t cost the hotel very much to get right. Bottom line: unless you have children between 3 and 9, and you don’t mind any of the issues we listed above, then we would not recommend this to you. Rather stay in a genuine five-star venue if you’re going to that expense in any event - they generally have amazing kids facilities anyway.

Nice and quiet location. Very good service and front desk super helpful. Breakfast buffet is providing all type of food and even vegan options for our kids. Kids club is a a great place although the staff can be a bit more entertaining. The food at the main restaurant could be more tasty and refined for the price. Great destination with kids and for all what the hotel can provide. Will come back to this nice region

We spent the weekend over Ironman Cascais, Portugal. It was absolutely incredible. The Martinhal Team were magic. They were efficient, hugely accommodating and no task was too big. The space, entertainment, games and food for the kids was just fantastic. I'd highly recommend it as a family holiday!
