When
I
first
booked
this
hotel
for
a
three
day
stay
for
a
convention,
I
didn’t
look
at
the
rate
and
was
surprised
when
I
received
a
confirmation
with
what
would
be
an
almost
$900
charge.
So,
I
immediately
booked
a
different
hotel
and
got
a
$370
reservation
and
called
the
La
Quinta
Inn
&
Suites
by
Wyndham
Collinsville
-
St.
Louis
back
to
cancel
my
reservation.
They
asked
why
and
I
told
them
I
couldn’t
afford
a
$250+
per
night
room
even
if
it
was
a
suite.
Did
you
notice
the
word
SUITE
in
their
name?
This
becomes
important.
They
offered
to
drop
$100
off
the
rate
and
since
it
would
be
a
suite,
rather
than
a
room,
I
accepted
that
and
kept
the
reservation.
How
would
you
define
a
suite?
A
quick
Google
search
defines
it
as
“a
set
of
connected
rooms,
especially
in
a
hotel”
and
in
every
hotel
I’ve
ever
been
in
before
it
has
meant
a
separate
sitting
area,
usually
with
a
couch
and
television,
and
a
sleeping
area.
Often
a
mini-fridge
or
kitchenette
area
are
included.
That’s
what
I
expect
with
a
suite.
I
will
say
it’s
my
fault
for
not
really
investigating
the
rooms
at
this
hotel.
However,
I
won’t
change
my
review
for
it.
The
room
I
received
at
the
La
Quinta
Inn
&
Suites
in
Collinsville
was
just
a
standard,
if
small,
hotel
room.
You
enter
in
a
door,
there’s
a
tiny
bathroom
on
your
left,
and
then
a
room
with
two
beds
and
a
dresser
with
a
television.
One
chair
by
the
bed,
one
desk
chair
at
the
desk.
That’s
it.
The
hotel
is
shabby
and
small
and
cheap.
They’re
no
hiding
it.
The
single
elevator
is
cramped
and
will
hold
three
people.
The
carpets
are
threadbare.
The
hallways
are
dingy
and
plain
with
chipped
and
scaling
paint.
A
kind
of
funky
odor
permeates
the
building.
The
beds
and
their
mattresses
are
cheap
and
uncomfortable.
The
breakfast
is
the
worst
sort
of
“continental”
breakfast
I’ve
ever
seen.
What
continent
are
we
talking
about
here?
Here’s
a
list
of
the
stuff
that
went
wrong
during
our
three-night
stay.
• Key
cards
stopped
working
• No
hot
water,
not
even
at
5am
before
everyone
was
up
• Housekeeping
busted
in
the
hotel
room
at
9am
before
we
were
dressed
• Housekeeping
never
returned,
even
after
requests,
though
we
found
a
roll
of
trashbags
in
our
room
• Television
was
dim
• Toilet
was
set
so
close
to
the
sink
you
couldn’t
move
your
right
arm
• The
valet
area
is
a
traffic
hazard,
all
vehicles
must
drive
under
the
awning
because
the
columns
are
too
close
to
the
parking
• Ice
machine
was
always
empty
In
conclusion:
this
is
just
a
cheap
hotel
that’s
trying
to
bilk
hardworking
people
of
their
hard-earned
money
with
the
excuse
of
“surge”
as
though
a
convention
in
an
area
filled
with
hotels
in
Collinsville,
IL,
ten
miles
outside
of
St.
Louis,
will
ever
be
full.
This
is
an
$80-$90
per
night
hotel
at
the
most.
Stay
here
if
you
must,
but
if
you
pay
more
than
$100
a
night
for
the
room
as
I
did
(and
I’ll
be
honest,
I’m
OUTRAGED
they
tried
to
charge
me
$250)
you’re
getting
robbed.
Go
to
a
different
hotel
in
the
area,
though
the
Comfort
Inn
next
door
is
owned
by
the
same
folks.
