Very clean , friendly service , amazing food at a great price. The menu had plenty to choose from. The moment you walk threw the door you feel welcome. Very easy to order 7 rolls in the matter of minutes. They have carry out as well. Best sushi place in granite city hands down.

I hope I don't get sick. Incredibly bad sushi. (Tuna) It was very obviously old and had gone bad. It was brown- not dark red, but brown, and smelled strongly fishy. (Not in an appetizing way). I've eaten at Drunk'n fish, Kyoto, King and I, Wasabi, Sushi AI and more. I have NEVER seen sushi this poor in quality, aside from maybe a buffet that's been sitting in the open air for too long. After politely bringing my concern to one of the owners, she began to rather condescendingly explain to me that this is how sushi is supposed to look, with varying shades of red and pink (correct! This I already know!). I explained that it is not pink, but brown, and it smells very fishy. She acted incredulous and said "we'll take it back and not charge you for it". She took my plate before I'd finished my philly roll, which also was not the freshest. I also have a strong suspicion that the "yellowtail" that I ordered was actually "white Tuna" otherwise known as Escolar, aka snake mackerel or waloo. It's cheaper and has very high oil content. It can make you sick because it's not easily digested. I really love yellowtail sushi, so this is not familiar or what I was expecting at all. The color was different (no apparent purple/pink hue that is normally visible on yellowtail) The friend I was with was given something other than he ordered and they explained "we didn't have any left, so we have you extra of this" without first asking if that was acceptable. So I really think they didn't have yellowtail, and instead figured I wouldn't know the difference if they subbed it out for "white Tuna". The prices are so high! They are easily as high as the Drunken fish. I should have been able to take advantage of the buy 3 get 1 free, but because my tuna was inedible, I lost out on my "free" sushi. Take a look for yourself: Sushi should not look this dark brown, or be this dry looking. You can even see where the lighter pink side was not yet oxidized on one of the pieces. Some browning or greying is "normal" despite looking unappetizing, but should NOT smell like spoiled fish. I would have appreciated a more genuine apology (or any apology!) Instead I was treated as though I were ignorant. The gyoza was good. I won't be back. (obviously)

Osaka Sushi is a small, family owned Asian foods cafe that specializes in sushi (of course!). I am a sushi fanatic and this is my absolute favorite place to eat in the entire St. Louis area. Prices are reasonable and the food is of extremely high quality. I have sampled about 80% of their menu and have never eaten anything that was dissapointing, in fact I wouldn't consider any of it bad at all its just that there are some things I like more than others. Their lunch specials are a steal for what you get, two large rolls for $8-10 pre tax. They have a wide range of sashimi to choose from and a plethra of specialty rolls. Their hamachi (yellowtail), tako (octopi), and hotate (scallops) are among the best I've eaten anywhere. Food preparation is immaculate and the cafe's cleanliness is absolutely impeccable. Osaka Sushi is a shining gem in an area that is dominated by fast food and other status quo dining.

The best sushi since I lived in Japan. The atmosphere is the same even. Small place of perfection. It is recommend you order your food ahead of time (even if your dining in). We were party of 5 and ordered a large variety of rolls to share (plus drinks). It was about $140 plus tip. Worth every penny!

Great little spot for sushi, especially considering it's in Granite City & we don't have anything else like this out there. The staff are extremely friendly & kind which is rare these days to find, so big kudos to you all there! The sushi itself is pretty good, but there is better in the area in my opinion. I think the biggest let down with this particular spot is the fried sushi - it's always a little over done which takes away from the flavor & texture - & anything with cream cheese in it is just a little overboard on the amount that is in the roll itself. I think if they can adjust/fine tune a few of their ingredients/processes they'd be that much better! The inside ambiance also needs warmed up a bit; we've never stayed to eat in just due to that it feels very uncomfortable & cold. They are a bit pricey as well; not so much with the rolls, mainly when it comes to the single serving pieces (~$8/piece) where typically these are $1-$2/piece. My boyfriend & I went for the first time thinking that for the price, he was also getting a buy 3 get 1 free "rolls"- once we got our order it turned out he had only gotten 4 individual pieces so we ended up sharing mine. I understand higher prices right now especially as a new business, but the quantity, then, should be noted on their menu, especially when we ordered "correctly" the next time & it was the same price - that blew my mind. Overall, great little place, wonderful staff and location, just needs some adjustments as with any new spot starting out. I think if they can work out kinks & listen to their reviews they'll be a great little spot! We'll definitely continue going back & supporting them, but do hope to see some improvements in the future as well so we can adjust our review :)

This place has the best sushi I have ever had. I am from the Seattle area and thus sushi would rival some of the top sushi in Seattle. If you are near to Granite City, Illinois, try it. You won't be sorry.

Beautiful setting, phenomenal service, and GREAT SUSHI. This hidden gem may not seem like much from the outside, but it truly is a go to must for sushi lovers!

After this being my third time not sure I will return. Twice now I have ordered and paid for asparagus rolls and received avocado instead. I was also charged 3 dollars extra to have eel sauce and spicy mayo on my rolls and still some were missing the eel sauce. Rolls are inconsistent in size as well. First time quality was 100/100 amazing ordered Spicy Alaska rolls. 2nd time quality was not as good in fish in Alaska Rolls and order not right, 3rd time just not great at all same stuff and sick of getting charged for more exspensive item to get a less exspensive one.... I don't like a scam don't order asparagus rolls...

From the coast and wasnโ€™t sure how inland sushi would be. The staff, the chef, the care, THE FISH gave me total high end restaurant experiences. Totally recommend. SUSHI IS REALLY GOOD. PLACE IS FIRE.

Curt,, unprofessional, disrespectful owner (the female), cashed me out without the huy 3 get 1 free, after I asked about it when I called in the order & drove from Edwardsville, when I could have went to Wasabi or Kyoto! Such a mistake! This is 2nd chance already, as this same female owner shamed my 7 year old daughter who tapped my debit card on the counter twice, the last time we were there for a pick-up ( special was in place then)! Told her to stop that way annoying. Will NEVER be back! Rudeness at its finest! No apologies, just keep it moving! They don't care! Shame โœŒ๏ธ

As always, great fresh sushi, the best around. MG and his wife and now their daughter serve up great food. They actually have a decent selection of hot entrees and appetizers too, but we usually stick to sushi. Never disappointed.

The sushi here is absolutely delicious. Our favorite is the Crab Rangoon sushi. They usually have a deal that you buy three rolls and get one free. Restaurant is clean and customer service is fantastic.

My husband and I came in to eat and they were quickly trying to get us out. They kept saying that they were closing and started putting our order in take out containers. At the the same time, a gentleman came out n and they say him at a table, gave him drinks, and we're waiting for his friends to come. They were polite and cordial to hime, whereas they treated my fiance and I like we were an inconvenience. By the way, we are African-American and the other customer was not. I I am Japanese by birth because of my great grandma. I didn't deserve to be treated so poorly not did my fiance.

I love this place! I go here every chance I get. Itโ€™s reasonably priced too! I got four rolls one day for 29 dollars when I was expecting it to be 40. They have buy three get one free deal which is actually really nice. Also the more expensive rolls tend to be bigger too, the mama roll has more than the aloha. Itโ€™s roughly a 2-3 dollar difference. They also have really good lunch deals^^ however I think the lunch deal is still only made for one person to eat, as you do get two rolls, but theyโ€™re smaller than regular rolls. Their most expensive lunch deal is 12.95 or something, I got the crab Rangoon and delmar roll, it was very good. And other options aside from sushi. I got their chicken katsudon once and it was really good!! Their udon is also very good. My favorite roll so far is the Mama roll. It only gets pricey when youโ€™re getting two rolls or more per person. One 10 dollar roll should be enough to fill up one person, or at least it is for me. So unless youโ€™re a black hole when it comes to eating, it isnโ€™t any more expensive than a regular restaurant.

Unfortunately too expensive for the items being served. This place is a nice mom and pop shop, but the portions and price where too high for the quality and quantity served.

A hidden gem of sushi restaurants. You wouldn't expect such a good sushi joint in such a nondescript location, but here it is. Their spicy rolls especially are delicious. Chicken teriyaki was amazing, as was the katsu. Only critique I could give is that the katsu sauce could use some touching up. Not my favorite, but still good. Lunch roll specials are the best budget friendly offering. Two rolls for essentially BOGO 50% off. Great deal. Can't recommend this place enough!

Everything is always delicious and made to order. My family has come here for years. I wanted to rebut the one extremely negative review on here. I'm not sure what they paid 15.00 for but it wasn't chicken teriyaki. That's one of the cheapest items on the menu. For probably 5 years it's the only roll my son would eat, and it's been literally perfect every time.

This quaint sushi restaurant never disappoints. It is very clean and bright with the most pleasant staff you can find. Top that with fresh, high-quality, visually appealing and very tasty food. I love the rolls with a bit of apple that give a slightly sweet crunch. Definitely try a bowl of their miso soup. Note to friends - Osaka miso soup is welcome as a Christmas gift to stock my freezer. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love this place. The sushi is always top notch and fresh. The curry is delicious as well and the prices won't break the bank. I love the Kamikaze roll and the Fried Crab Rangoon (this one has apple in it it's surprisingly delicious). I keep coming back, especially since the service is so darling and special.

I wana start this review by saying I don't like sea food or fish. I dont know why but every time I try fish I end up hating it. Over 2 visits I ordered fried crab rangoon rol,l chicken teriyaki roll, shrimp tempura roll, avacado roll, sweet potato deluxe and a gyoza for my wife and myself. I wasn't a fan of the chicken because it some how tasted fishy. My wife talked me into trying the fried crab rangoon and it was amazing. It didn't have a strong seafood taste to it and it is honestly one of the best things I think I have ever eaten. It was definitely the stand out of the food we got and i highly recommend it. This one roll is enough for a 1 person meal. The sweet potato deluxe was rich and creamy and I will order it every time I get food from here. The avacado roll was your standard avacado roll. They gave us a free California roll from there buy 3 get 1 free deal and while I didn't eat it my wife said it was very good. The gyoza is nicely fried and the dipping sauce for it adds a lot to its flavor. I highly recommend this place to anyone that is on the fence.
