I wish I could give less than 1 star Normally, I don't post reviews but after reaching the review page, I realized I should share my experience also and should check reviews about the place first. This time I'm doing so since the staff at the Porirua shop disappointed me so greatly. We visited yesterday and ordered masala dosa & Chilly Paneer. Initially, they were very friendly while taking orders. We asked for a small portion of food whereas they charged for standard size which was ok for us as sometimes it happens. When we started eating our meal after receiving our order, we noticed it was non-vegetarian. I asked the employees about it, they didn't think it was a big deal that they were serving non-veg to vegetarian customers. The guy at the front (maybe the manager) was very rude. They didn't even offer an apology for their blunder. I know somehow it sounds like not to post about it but my concern is "WHY". Some customers do not prefer eating non-vegetarian due to religious beliefs, allergies, or many more reasons, staff can't simply smile and say ok we will get your correct order ready immediately. I'm not sure how this will help staff members to understand that it is really not good feeding customers what they do not want to.

Buying a curry from Spice Traders is often a risk. When they get it right, they are packed full of flavour, when they don't, the sauces taste like lightly flavoured water. The Westfield Queensgate store has a high success rate, but the North City Store has been shocking. In what must be over 10 visits now, the curries are consistently over watered down which is surprising given that their prices are often on par or slightly higher than Indian restaurants for a dish. Every time I come to this stall, I say I'll try it again and the risk never pays off. If you are looking for good or even mediocre Indian food, this isn't the place for you.

Best experience I have ever had with customer service. Hands down. Ever. Got a butter chicken combo for eat in, and got a huge portion that I needed to go back and get a take away container. The lady in front of me got it take away and it’s clear you get much more food doing eat in. The man who served me was absolutely delightful! I loved the sauce of the butter chicken so much, I asked if I could pay for extra. He said that they didn’t really do that, but gave me a cheeky scoop of sauce because I asked so nicely. Absolutely made my day! I couldn’t stop grinning. I won’t be forgetting this soon. I guess it really does pay to be kind <3 I had to write this review as soon as I got in the car because of how happy it made me and I think this kind of service is above and beyond what I would have expected. I could not thank them enough. Side note, I was shocked at reading some of these reviews. The butter chicken I got was fantastic - rich and creamy, huge pieces of chicken and beautiful naan bread as well as the amazing customer service. I wonder if they have taken on board the reviews and are making changes to get better?

Should have read reviews before going here. Ended up with food poisoning from the paneer masala, which tasted better coming up than it did going down. Tried to call 30mins before closing but no answer, apparently they closed early. Poor hygiene practices, cook handed a naan with his bare hands and gave me a weird look.

I ordered a chicken curry which was clearly labelled 'Chicken Tikka Masala'. Except it wasn't chicken. It was tofu. I took it back and told them it was soy, not chicken and they told me I was wrong, it was chicken. It absolutely was not. They fought me on it relentlessly, telling me it's fine and that I was wrong. Eventually the chef came out looking sheepish and looked it the curry, but they never removed the mislabelled curry from the shelf. It's obvious they had tried to cut corners and substitute tofu for chicken. If it had been genuine error they would have been receptive- maybe shocked even, and they would have removed the product off the shelf and dealt with the situation. But there was no apology, just gaslighting, and eventually after I was clearly not going away, they replaced my food. It's a breach of our food labeling laws to mislabel food. I am hopeful this business gets investigated before a soy allergy puts someone in hospital.

Ordered chicken Manchurian and Chicken Biriyani , no taste , rice were hard and cold. It was frozen biriyani thrown on my plate. Chicken was like rubber , plates were too hot as they microwaved both dishes .

A really really bad experience from this place yesterday, ended up with food poisoning vomiting and going to the bathroom all night. Really don’t recommend this place as im guessing the Chicken was raw or there is some really bad hygiene from the “Chef”.

I gave a bad review last week and i would like to revert it since they have compensated mewith the another one. Thanks for understanding ur customer needs and fixed it as soon as they got aware of.

So disappointing. It was the worst experience ever. I tried butter chicken, there were two small pieces of chicken in it. It was like soup. I went back and asked if this amount is right and she said yes. I paid 15$ for 2 small pieces of chicken soup not for butter chicken . The taste was the terrible as well, so I left more than half. never go again

ordered chola bhatura. Not cooked well.. and simple said sorry with a smile... Bad customer service
