The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms was well kept and our room had a stunning view over the pond. The breakfast the next morning as well as the supper that we had in our room was just as delicious.

Disappointment is an understatement Someone stole a certain portion of my perfume/cologne, I reported the incident to the housekeeping manager, she promised to buy it in the morning before my checkout in the morning. That didn't happen, not even an apology from the hotel, what was even worse, when I was about to depart I was called by a certain lady to sign something I requested her to come to the car because I was late for an appointment in East London and on top of that it was raining. I had to go back to the hotel because they thought I didn't pay for my hotel stay, when I arrived at the reception, there was a certain lady wearing grey and red with a stinky attitude thinking I was about to leave without paying. My Pond hotel staff treatment was disgusting and the issue someone who stole a certain portion of my perfume....I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you want to erase beautiful memories of Port Alfred. I don't even want to mention limited breakfast options. But something for sure a white person wouldn't get such treatment, I was treated that way because I'm black even the issue of perfume that was left hanging.

The MyPond Hotel was lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the lady who manages the cleaning of the rooms sent extra towels etc within 2 minutes she was friendly and accommodating. A lovely place to stay. Breakfast and dinners were delicious also. Rooms are clean.

Best service I received from the Hotel. Would definitely visit it again. I didn't sleep there, I only had my breakfast there and it was good.

Breakfast is not good. The cereals are all stale. The bagels were stale. Eggs are good and they do a variety.

Had Christmas lunch 2day (2021). Absolutely 5 star in all respects. Meal was excellent, service was absolutely wonderful. The staff went out of their way 2 please. Compliments to the Management, the Chef and servers. The Pond truly has a first class staff. Well done, keep it up. We will be back. The Gibson family πŸ‘ͺ

Very nice and comfortable. Great value for money. Would have been nice to cater for gluten-free however.

The ground floor has a very quiet and peculiar Ocean Basket. Best river stream view ever.

A beautiful setting; however, every time I've been there, the temperature of the shower is not regulated.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and it was absolutely wonderful! The head of housekeeping was phenomenal as well as the rest of the staff. Generally, at these types of places, the in house restaurant is OK, but not the case here - Amazing food cooked by a great chef. The location might not seem amazing seeing as how there is the sea just up the road, but it's pretty quiet and all of the best restaurants are nearby. There is a great large TV for watching TV after the beach or just after arrival too. One thing to note is that when there is loadshedding, the aircon as well as plugs go off - but the Wifi and lights stay on. Wifi at this location is pretty darn good!

This is a two-star hotel at best, and had I known that at the time, I definitely would not have booked it. Myself and my husband stayed here for 6 nights over December last year and our experience was horrible. Perhaps just bad luck, but everything that could have possibly gone wrong, went wrong. We stayed in a double room over-looking the parking lot. This was quite an eyesore. It actually felt like we were staying in a shopping complex. This is because the hotel does not have its own parking and shares a parking lot with a whole lot of shops, one of which includes a local pub which can get quite noisy at night. The parking lot itself does not feel safe at all and we had a hard time driving in and out. There are a whole lot of what appear to be homeless men who act like car guards. They hash you for money every time you park your car (even though you are a guest at the hotel). The security of the hotel tries to chase them away but fails because they become aggressive. On the day we checked out, a whole lot of homeless guys had actually decided to squat on the doorstep of the hotel (literally) and the security guard could not get them to leave. It was quite a performance. Because of the lack of safety, we made sure to be parked and in the hotel before dark every day. The room itself was dirty on arrival. I actually don't think it had been cleaned from the last checkout. There were makeup stains on the linen and towels, dead bugs on the floor, and the bathroom floor was wet. Upon request, the hotel cleaned the room, albeit not very well as it was so rushed. Aside from this, the room smelt like mold for our entire stay. There was mold all over the bathroom. I assume it is because there is not much ventilation. There was a dodgy couch in the corner of the room which had a whole lot of stains on it, and so we were afraid to sit on it as we didn't know what the stains were from. The fridge was dirty so we could not use it. I tried to use the hairdryer one day and it started smoking, smelt like something was melting inside of it, definitely a fire hazard. Our toilet paper was not replaced by room service once it had finished. We had to phone reception twice to ask for toilet paper. On the first evening, we experienced a performance in the early hours of the morning. Guests had come in drunk and were fighting in the passage of the hotel. To be honest, there was not much that we could make use of in the room as everything felt like a hazard. We even resorted to using our own towels as the towels which we were brought were not clean. We gave up on complaining after about the third complaint and just tried to make the best of a bad situation. But it was horrific and a complete waste of a holiday. On check-out, we were told that the hotel would be in contact with us about some sort of recompense for our experience, but nobody has contacted us yet and it has been almost a year. Port Alfred itself is beautiful, but sadly our entire trip was tainted by the terrible accommodation.

Still my favourite hotel to stay at when en-route between East London and Port Elizabeth. Staff are always helpful and really welcoming. Dinner & breakfast was superb. Friendly ducks came to visit while I was waiting for dinner to be served.

We had a fabulous stay in the hotel. We were welcomed by the friendly and professional staff. Arrived tired from a long drive and they really took care of us. From arranging safe parking for our car and trailer to organizing dinner for us in the late hours. Thank you, Allan and Mariette Friend
