I'm just going to jot down my different points... Service: the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. However the lady that showed us to our room wasn't too friendly and was running around whilst busy assisting us. I understand that it was busy so she had things to do but ot was more the non-caring attitude that I wasn't fond of. The bar staff aren't too friendly but assisted us well. Meals: We can't complain about the food. It was lovely. Room: The room was spacious and nice. The view was beautiful. My problems with the room was that I found it a bit costly for what was offered... It really wasnt a bad room but it could be a bit more competitive. My other issue is that the walls are so thin you can hear everything next door including our neighbour's "enjoying their hotel experience" several times - if you know what I mean. A lovely hotel all In all but I do think they could maybe lower their rates for what you receive or just improve the rooms a bit (perhaps sound proof them)

A very lovely location with the hotel partly surrounded by water with very beautiful scenery. Very tasty food. We were a group of PCA WCA Assembly Ministers' Wives attending our annual seminars that always coincidence with Women's day. We really enjoyed ourselves

We visited and had a coffee before our hike from Port Alfred. We were so welcomed, excellent friendly staff and interesting info, pictures, painting and relics on display too.

Had a great stay location beautiful. Breakfast is great and the spa treatment was relaxing only setback is hotel needs a revamp a fridge in the rooms would be convenient aswell deck leading to boat also need freshing up other than that weekend was great

Great piece of history perhaps falling to pieces. Great location. Old world charm and character. Nice spacious rooms. Nice deck areas on the river. My experience was marred by the state of the room (22) and the poor attitude of the dinner staff and chef. Being a vegetarian prove to be tough. The breakfast staff was very nice. Smiling and helpful. Would love to see the place her in shape and would love to come back.

Stayed for 4 days and experienced very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is great with variety of options so you don't eat the same thing everyday. Very peaceful and beautiful location! Hotel maintenance needs improvement - bathroom basin was blocked with water taking forever to drain, bath tap dripping, our TV had issues switching on, no dstv and wifi basically non-existent.

Location is fantastic,service was also very friendly but cleaning staff talks so loud it seems they are shouting at each other rooms definitely need an update and info on surrounding areas and functions of when breakfast is and in the area.Hotel also needs a face lift and it shows there is a gym but clearly just a room full of mattresses. Please also fix the Wifi it is not picking up on all the sides of the hotel

Best views but the place is not properly managed. My room had a very bad smell due to rain. The reception looks so dull and the service is very poor

I was not happy with the rooms and how they smell everything in is old no carpet for bathrooms and toilets, no fridges in the room, no iron box

Sunday buffet lunch. First class food and service. Strongly recommend for residents and visitors alike.

I have stayed here many times hosting business workshops and the staff is friendly food excellent and general the environment safe and. Beautiful. Rooms are super clean !

What a disappointment. Been going for milkshakes and cocktails for years .Not anymore! My daughter had a milkshake only to discover a plastic bottle lid in it. When brought to the F&B managers attention..... the response...., he laughed at us . Thank you Mzi , we will never be back and will tell anyone who listens of our bad/sad experience.

The TV was not working properly. House keeping did a shoddy job as I stayed for some days. Location is top class.

So sad to see what has become of this place. A place I once enjoyed taking my family has been reduced to a shell of its former self. Terrible experience this weekend, the place is clearly neglected. I had such high expectations and I was shocked to see the state the place was in. Do not reccomend, for the price you can get much better. The owners should be ashamed.

The rooms need revamping,new ceiling,doors,floor and furniture is needed. The hotel is located in a perfect place. The food is perfect. The rooms need serious revamping.

Service was friendly , and a great location, unfortunately rooms have seen better days. And can do with a deep clean and some basic but very much needed maintenance. Bed was comfort with good bedding

This hotel is set next to the Port Alfred Marina and river. The rooms have a dated appearance My bathroom were dirty, I did not have any towels, The TV only have access to SABC & E Tv. An disused TV cabinet still form part of the room furniture. The food served were tasty but the buffet offered were very rudimentary.

Although the rate for the evening was great.... No DStv or Netflix only E Chanel. The kettle didn't work and no hot water to shower ,?

Brilliant staff, food and service. Such a pity non residents are allowed in as we didn't get to enjoy the pool area

What a dive! Rooms really lacking maintenance, Aircon not functional, staff have no understanding of customer service! Coupled to this, they did not honour a booking, had to book another room! Give it a miss at all costs

Only positive was the view and the food. Other than that, the place is very run down. Had 2 room changes, firstly due to non-functioning appliances in the room. Secondly, the linen was filthy. Both rooms were extremely worn down, moldy bathroom and cupboards, an overall unpleasant smell in the rooms, broken shower doors..the list goes on. Our stay was cut short. Unpleasant experience

Once again we were very impressed with the service we received from the staff of the Halyards pub and restaurant. We have been going there for several years. All the staff go out of their way to make it a very friendly experience. Starting with Imzi as the F and B manager and Mbulelo as the duty manager along with the brilliant bar staff of Tosh and Gerry. The service was always once again impeccable and friendly. The Sunday lunch was out of this world. Our compliments go to the chef, Rosie and David. Will definitely be back soon.

It was just for a quick meal but it was amazing the vibe and the view. We're definitely planning on going there and spending a few night.

The staff is horrible no hospitallity very rude, the so called buffet was appalling no variety in food. The owner should consider changing everything. The only thing good is the venue!! Very disappointing sies!!!

I was this past weekend.Bathtub and shower extremely small, TV was not working, cistern handle broken. Kitchen staff don't have proper uniforms as a result they looked untidy. The entire place needs a revamp.

Location is great. The road inside the hotel yard is full of potholes, had to dance with my car trying to avoid these. Gutters need replacement, walls and walkways are dirty. Windows do not close properly, doors are old. Ceiling in the dining hall is full of spider webs. The carpets were dirty and sticky in our room. Bathroom was so tiny, not sure why they squeezed in a bath and a shower if there is no space. The separate toilet is too small with ancient flushing system and plastic toilet brushes. To say that I was utterly disappointed with the hotel would be an understatement, the hotel needs a major revamp. To top it off, breakfast was awful, the sausage we were served was off. I am in Property Management and get travel a lot, the hotel is an eye sore. The property has a lot of potential, however, it has been neglected for a long time.

It's the worst shame, the room had cupboards which were falling off. TV only played 4 channels and none were sport. The staff were the worst I had no fridge in the room when I asked for ice I had to pay. I only give them 1 star and that Star is because they are close to the water. I will definitely not go there again
