👍👍 Chad was our Waiter! It was our first time experience! Everything was paced perfectly. He was extra kind and make sure everything came out exactly how we wanted it. He also didn't judge me when I asked for A1! 😊 The Live music was almost the highlight of my night! Besides Chad of course! People often mention service, good, great, pizza, music, nice, Great, night, dinner, atmosphere,

There's just something about putting off going to a restaurant and than when you finally go there...utter disappointment. Firstly, understand that they cater to a specific crowd. As such, what they offer is specific to this crowd. Now, the attempt is there. Decor: on point. Music: a rare find in the town. Food: abysmal. I try to really find the positives when I visit places so here we go: ambiance and drink variety. Cons? Wait time was ridiculous, food tasted bland with soupy sauce (alfredo), and the prices were NOT worth it. Other places in town offer martinis less than $17 with way better taste. Overall not interested in coming back. They can try harder by revamping the ingredients for a start. But on a bright note, the server was great!

Sorry, first visit, can't give you a 5 yet. Interesting place. We did the Tuesday/Wednesday 2 for 1 deal. A limited menu of 3 courses and a bottle of red or white wine for $61. Decent selection of food and wine on the limited menu. You get a salad or soup, entree, choice of 2 desserts and the bottle for that price. Its $41 with no liquor. They also offer a carafe for $51. Unfortunately they ran out of the Cab, but we got a nice substitute. The waiter was worth the price of the meal. He was extremely entertaining and my spouse was part of the card trick! My spouse loved her lasagna, only downside was my meal wasn't as expected but I still ate it all! Looks like there is some great entertainment regularly scheduled. Would love to go back just for the entertainment. We will be back!

At first, when we walked in we felt out of place because it’s an older crowd. But, the atmosphere was great! Music was good, decorations were delightful and the food…….. AMAZING!!! The chef was out walking around a bit and I spoke to him briefly. He said he’s only been there a month and has plans to add all kinds of new menu items that sounds amazing too!! Our waitress, April was fantastic and very attentive. All around a wonderful experience. Highly recommend

Dinner This was out second trip to the restaurant and it was as good as the first time. We made a reservation and we actually were seated at the time we reserved. This usually does not happen at other restaurants. The service was great and the food arrived quickly. I started with the mushroom soup, which tasted great. The entree for me was the braised beef, my wife had the chicken Florentine, my sister went with the pork with linguine and capers. My brother-in-law had the same as I did. All meals tasted great and were presented very nicely. We all ended with the Crème brûlée. This was great as well. The top was a tad overdone, would be my only negative. We had the two for fixed price so the meals were a great price. Definitely will return! On 5/20/22: Back this week for a special dinner. At this point changing my rating to 3 stars. So the great deal on the fixed price menu is gone. Sad to see this happen. The place is still great with music, ambiance and service. The menu is missing many of my favorites, risotto, osso buco, others gone. That risotto we expected was gone. We ordered two things to try. Brazed beef was good but the Mac and cheese was cold. The server attempted to warm up, it came back when we were finished the meal 15 minutes later… still barely warm. I took it home to doctor up and heat. The crème brûlée was still good but seems a bit thicker. We still like the place but not real satisfied with the food and menu missing some favorites. The service was great and we enjoyed the evening. We look forward to see if items make it back to the menu. Lumpy mashed potatoes is not a substitute for risotto.

We go to The Grill nearly every weekend. What keeps us coming back is the friendliest staff in town and top of the line entertainment. They always have a few surprises up their sleeve! It is completely COVID safe and we have always felt comfortable there. And the food and drinks aren’t bad either! I would highly recommend this place for an entertaining night on the town.

We love coming to this place, and do so nearly every week. Wonderful atmosphere, interesting menu (love the martini menu as well), and the staff is so warm and friendly! We are fortunate to have this neighborhood gem where we can go out for a nice dinner and hear live music in a cozy and relaxed setting!

Tony Boffa is the reason to go on Saturday night. Food has improved dramatically. From greeting to the check delivery an excellent night out. "The Chad" was exceptional with his attitude and attentiveness. Celebrated our Anniversary early and will be back again.

Stopped in for a happy hour drink and appetizers. An enormous selection of martinis. The waitstaff and bartender were slow in getting drink orders out, especially when my husband had to reorder as there were out of some ingredients, including olive juice for a straight up dirty martini... Very disappointing. Granted the place was hopping and the band was especially good. Definitely a locals hang out but will definitely be back for the atmosphere. For appetizers, the tuna poke was great, but the chips were stale. Pork belly was seriously overcooked. Octopus was the highlight though we would have loved more watermelon salad.

I do not have one bad thing to say about this establishment. Great food! Great service! Great entertainment! This place was better than I expected. The pictures online do not do this place justice. The ambiance was magical. We came here for our anniversary and there was a beautiful centerpiece with a balloon that read “Happy Anniversary.” It’s the little things that set places apart from the rest. Our waitress, Jade was phenomenal, very attentive and friendly. She recommended different entrees and drinks to us. For an appetizer, we ordered the pistachio crusted goat cheese. OMG! So yummy! The entertainment was fabulous, they played the song I requested “Evening in Roma” by Dean Martin. Great place and minutes from our house, we cannot wait to return!

A very special place for us. The beginning of many great times together. A Sentimental reason but it is a nice place to have a drink, the owner was very kind and brought us lots of appetizers. We felt really welcomed. Kind of liven the place up I guess LOL the people that socialize there mostly regulars very nice all ages...sometimes they have live music. It's next to the Days Inn on 41 in Port Charlotte. Go out early we do live in Charlotte County if you want to have a few hours things close down we're not in Kansas anymore. 22 years here and I love it

I had their thin crust cheese pizza which should be a good test of their pizzas. I specified crispy. The finished pizza was average. The dough was thin and not crispy. It was more like a bread dough. The red sauce was tasty. Service was really slow.

Found this place thanks to Open Table. We were greeted by name at the front door. It only got better from there. “The Chad” was our server and were we in for a treat! He had great input to help me decide between the Tuscan shrimp, the ahi tuna and the fillet. He was very attentive, checking on us often and offering things before we even realized we needed them. The Husband had the fillet and it was worth ordering. It’s hard to find a fillet at a restaurant that compares to what we can grill at home. This one did. Excellent pea risotto and don’t pass up the goat cheese appetizer! Try the lava cake for me. I was too full to order it but I hear it’s amazing with the house made ice cream. Enjoy!

The outside of this place does NOT do it justice. It's next to (or part of?) a Days Inn in the midst of the Port Charlotte rt41 shopping crawl, and has a fairly tacky "Nightly Live Jazz" sign out front. So, don't be shocked when you go in and discover that this really is a fine dining establishment. While you don't have to go in with proper attire, you'll feel more in-place if you don't go in with shorts and a T-shirt. Food is pretty good, although portion sizes might be a bit surprising. But, the "big deal" is the live music. Such great atmosphere and varied performers! Prices are a bit strange, which is why I knocked a star off. You don't pay for admission, so you can't complain. They have small and large portions. It feels to me like the small really is "small" for the price, and large is maybe way more than you'd expect. So, my critique is less that it's "pricey", but more that it's hard to know which portion size to get.

The service on 2.20.23 was VERY off, in regards to timing, due to being short-staffed. But I can't hold that against them! I will say that everyone was so VERY nice, apologetic, and accommodating! It was my birthday, so I wasn't in a rush to leave anyway! The owner was there and gave me a free dessert and attempted to give us 2 complimentary "after dessert" drinks, which we thankfully declined bc we were driving and we had already had an alcoholic beverage during dinner..... the live jazz musicians were AMAZING and VERY TALENTED! A GREAT BIRTHDAY EVENING!

I was just trying out the restaurants close to home. The bar area and dining area are large. The food was awesome. It is more like a lounge, there was a band. 'Girl from Ipanema' was a little bit cliche, but they were good. One of the singers lost his place in the lyrics. He kept playing and mumbled some words. His buddy looked at him funny. I was the only one who noticed.

The three stars are just for the music and atmosphere. The food was not good I'm sorry to say. Ate here about 2-3 years ago and was impressed but was very disappointed this time. The grilled brussel sprouts were steamed first and very overcooked. The burrata caprese tomatoes were so underripe I couldn't even cut them with a knife. I was hoping the rest of the food would be better but it wasn't. Will go back because really enjoyed the music, but only for drinks.

Our server was great and so was the food when we got it it took over an hour and a half before any of us got our food. The service said the system in the kitchen was all messed up and he had no control over when the food would come out. The entertainment was great. But I wouldn't go back until they fix the problems in the kitchen

  • 3/5 Jessica W. 3 years ago on Google
Really enjoyed the live entertainment, the service was slow and they weren’t even busy while we were there. We had a party of six and everyone seemed to enjoy the food but me. I ordered a ribeye steak and was served a strip steak which I ate because I didn’t want to wait for them to change it out, I was hungry. I have had a much better steak at Longhorn steakhouse at a much lower price but I realize your also paying for the entertainment. The salad which is a la carte was small but tasty. I will probably go back and try it again hoping for a true supper club experience.

The wings were a 4 out of 10 at best, very basic. They should look into ways on improving all elements of those for sure. The waitress was superb and very nice and friendly as was anyone else. My husband and I went Saturday night as a special Father’s Day date. WOW, what a gem! The atmosphere was inviting, clean and the wait staff were 1st. rate. The host was so friendly. He gave us a little history of the restaurant. The entertainer was an older gentleman that sang and played the guitar.. He was a great performer and his music just complimented our dinner. This is a true Adult night club. I like the idea of listening to live music and having a drink at the bar. We definitely plan to become regulars. I would highly recommend this place for us senior set. Excellent 👏👏👏👏

We come here fairly often! The Grill at 1951 starts with easy and user friendly on line reservations. Upon arriving, the person greeting you at the entry desk is always helpful and kind. Every server we’ve had is GREAT! Yesterday Joey G was our server and he was timely, personable, yet not over doing it (if you know what I mean)! There’s a nice variety of specialty martinis. Food is amazing. And if that’s not enough…. Every evening they have live jazz music. The music is perfect…. Volume is just right so you can carry on a dinner conversation. We like going on Wednesdays most of all, because there’s usually a 4 piece jazz group, and after they play for a while, they have guests from the audience jump in and play their instruments…. Or sing…. Whatever is their thing. Always some great entertainment!

My husband and I had dinner there a couple of weeks ago for my birthday. I have been wanting to try it out for quite awhile. Inside the place is nicely decorated with a relaxed and intimate feel. The jazz artist who I forgot his name, was very good and personable. The food was excellent! April who was our server was so nice and attentive! We didn't feel rushed and when we left my husband and I agreed that we will definitely be going back!

The meal was wonderful. The music was delightful. The singer and main band leader was chatting to the table next to ours during his break - twice - each time his language belonged in a dive bar instead of a nice fancy restaurant like The Grill! He used several fbombs and "Jesus Christ" continuously while chatting with people he must have known. Which as a Christian I found extremely offensive. I spoke with a gentleman on our way out as he asked how it was. I told him the singer needed to clean up his language. They were better than that. As a customer who paid a lot for a nice meal, if I had wanted that language I could have gone to an establishment where two meals didn't cost so much! We had the Veal Tomahawk Steak and the Crab Cakes, with clam chowder, caprese salad, and key lime pie for dessert. Along with two drinks each, bourbon old fashion and wine. Our server did a nice job as well.

Our first time at The Grill At 1951 and we were greatly impressed. Delicious food. Highly recommend their Pistachio Crusted Goat Cheese and Crab Cakes. Great service by our server, April. She was patient and helpful while we determined what to order from the menu. Enjoyed the easy listening live music. The music complimented perfectly with our dining experience. For a terrific dining experience highly recommend that you try this hidden gem restaurant on US41.

Server Shania did not make eye contact. Seemed in a hurry to get out of there. Had to be asked back to the table multiple times for drinks etc. Food was and drinks were phenomenal. Entertainment was great. Love the atmosphere

This is, hands down, the best dining experience I have had in the Charlotte County area. The calamari was perfectly cooked and garnished in a uniquely flavorful way with a dipping sauce that amplified the experience. The risotto was perfect. The chef's choice vegetables will keep me up at night trying to work out the spice combination that made my mouth dance. I was initially slightly disappointed with the New York strip... My first bite was slightly dry with little flavor. But the following bites changed my tune...perfectly cooked, delicious, Jucy and tender. The live jazz was a nice atmospheric enhancement. The ambiance is classy and pleasant. Finally, a shout out to my server, Trinity, she made what was already a great experience a true pleasure. P.s. best coffee I have has in years.

Calamari appetizer was outstanding- different from typical Italian as it had peppers and a side of orange sauce but the flavors were perfectly paired. The Tuscan shrimp dinner was good/okay but very buttery (too much butter). Chad was our server and he was wonderful!

This place is a must. The attentive service with a smile, the live jazzy music on a random Wednesday night, tasty food, can't go wrong. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent food and service. Crab cakes with garlic mashed potatoes were great. As well as the Key Lime pie.

My wife and I celebrated our 11th anniversary here and we loved it!! Bailey was our waiter and he was amazing. Gave us some recommendations on a few drinks and food items that were amazing. I highly recommend visiting this place and asking for Bailey to be your waiter. Looking forward to our next visit.

What a lovely restaurant. My wife and I were visiting the area and decided to visit here for a steak dinner. We arrived at our reservation time of 6:30pm and we were seated immediately. We noticed how nice the place looked inside along with a musician on the stage. He was playing 60s to 80s music which was very tasteful and best of all the music was not too loud but enough that the music was audible. We ordered filet steaks and when they arrived at our table, they were displayed nice and when biting into them, we both thought our steak was one of the best we'd ever eaten and they were so very tender. Our experience there was so nice, the atmosphere, the food and music made our evening romantic. We both agreed that we'd drive the hour from our home to visit here again for a special occasion. We both, with tonight's experience, highly recommend "The Grill At 1951".

Made reservations two months prior by phone for a New Year's Eve dinner for four. The person who took the reservation never mentioned that the typical menu wasn't available. Instead, the menu was limited providing a preselected salad, appetizer, entree and dessert. If you didn't like it, tough. This was a fixed price. I talked to the Manager and expressed my dissatisfaction in the fact it was too late to make reservations for the another restaurant. The Manager basically said it was listed on the website. I informed her there was not mention of the menu change two months prior. She indicated to take it or leave it. Well, we ended up leaving it based on the attitude of the Manager. We were able to find a nice restaurant, that was very accommodating with a full menu selection.
