Round #2 Went for lunch to see what had changed over the past year and was stoked to see how Sidewood had grown into not just a winery but an institution. The menu was expansive and boasted some amazing GF options. We sat for almost five hours and ordered enough food to feed a small army hahaha. Each dish was packed with flavour and complimented the next. Shout out to Dave, Fiona & Eden for their hospitality. Round #1 Sidewood Estate have definitely created a space that caters for everyone. From it's sleek tasting room, vaulted ceiling restaurant for a more discerning audience, expansive decking for groups, VIP day beds for those spesh occasions and outdoor games areas for both little kids & adult size kids. If I can please just seperate the restaurant for a moment (which is why we visited) you are offered what can only be perceived as a trendy, up market experience as the modern decor and price point reflect this. Although the menu reads well, the dishes definitely need a little refinement especially if your charging this much at a cellar door eatery compared to a stand alone restaurant. Please don't get me wrong, this place has the potential to be an Adelaide Hills favourite and in their defence have been super busy since opening, but as we know new establishments only ever get one chance at a first impression. Still, we'll definitely give this place another go once the dust settles. Side note: staff were fantastic..

Excellent spot with a restaurant and a more casual area outside to dine too. The winery has tastings and has some nice white wines. We dined at the more casual part of the winery, the ciders were very good but the pizza was a little average for $27. On the plus side they do have a little area set up with bocce and a mini lawn bowls. Plenty of parking too.

Cellar door for a Wintry Sunday morning tasting. Superb experience, Jacob our fabulous knowledgeable host gave us the run-down on a surprisingly fabulous range of wines. Fresh champagne style bubbles through to deep reds and a striking Port as well. Lighter style of Adelaide Hills wines that at times surprised me with their complexity and depth. We purchased 2 whites and 2 reds and received a little birthday gift as well (Thankyou Serena). Highly recommended!

The most impressive wines, food, restaurant, staff and facilities we have experienced in South Australia. If you're in the area and you're a food and wine lover. You must give yourself an afternoon here.

Amazing friendly service and a very nice Lunch. Great drive up to the Hills - Hahndorf certainly has beautiful surroundings. Rained so we were unable to play the games outdoors but were far from disappointed and enjoyed the warmth of the Wood Fire Pizza Oven - We will be back ! My fav place Sidewood Estate - Hahndorf South Australia. Highly recommend my entree - Octopus and my Main Pan Fried Gnocchi. Great Flavours and presentation.

Lovely place, a little warm if the temp is up a bit. The service was outstanding. Could not fault at all. The food generally was excellent, there was a butchers cut beef with gorgonzola butter. Overwhelming response from a long table that it didn't need the butter. A little too strong for the beautiful delicate beef and onion. Lamb was amazing and the chicken well done.

Food was absolutely incredible, - beautifully presented dishes. We tried the tasting menu and I could not fault any of the dishes, and could not pick between them for a favourite. Chef Jamie Carter has a gift, such unique and fresh flavours, paired together perfectly! We finished with dessert - the dark chocolate and orange lava cake is outstanding. Such a great atmosphere, will definitely be back. Thank you to the whole team for such a lovely evening!

Great find, very spacious dining area with lots of sunlight. Can get quite stuffy indoors when the sun is out. Nice outdoor area for the families and picnic. Swings for children. An adult area to lawn ball with canopies to chill on the side. The vibe for a gathering is excellent. Had the pizza buffet and it was not bad. Fave was the pork and potato pizza. Mushrooms were great too. Bottomless pizzas with no time limit was very worth it. You can spend the whole day there whilst playing games in between. Yummy mocha. Friendly service.

My husband and I had an amazing dinner here and Georgie, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional, the scenery was beautiful but the loud and rowdy hen's crowd was frustrating to listen to throughout our dinner which is no fault of the restaurant. We are extremely disappointed that from 1st Feb 22, this will become a place that discriminates against those that are not double vaxxed and promote segregation in our community and for that I only give 2 stars.

Mediocre place. Food is average, chips and wings were lukewarm. Ciders were nice but bar staff not able to discuss the product due to queue of people wanting to by jugs of the stuff. Tables were sticky and dirty, much to my wife's disgust.

One of Adelaide's best!! Where do i start.... fantastic location 20min from the CBD, huge grounds with over 4 settings to decide where to settle in. Outdoor family area is great for kids & plenty of space. Outdoors adult area is fun & popular, indoor is fomal dining and alfresco casual so what more could you want, they have it all. Food (Pizza's) are perfect & in house Ciders are the main go to choices but plenty more to choose from.🍕🍻🥂🥗🍾🥃

The first place you see before you arrive in Handorf. Big place with plenty of space outside for eating and playing. Great to bring the kids, they have a good playground and a vast green area for running around. If you want to have lunch in the restaurant you will need to book otherwise the outside bar have plenty of easy plates to share and have lunch and no need to book. The pizza and the dumplings were the best in our order!! No much desert options outside but the ice cream is good enough... Bring your blanket and seat by the grass in a good sunny day is definitely a good option. Their wine is good and the variety of beers are just fine.

We had the most fantastic time at this venue on the weekend! I corresponded with Selena on the phone, and Amir ran us through our wine tastings. Both were an absolute delight. The wine was phenomenal while still being affordable, and the tasting was super customizable and informative. If I could rate this venue 6 stars I definitely would.

Nice food, quick service and has swings for the kids to enjoy but I feel the lawn bowls can be enjoyed by kids under supervision. Overall nice place to take the family.

Great location, it is right at the entry of Hahndorf. Plenty of parking. There is a new playground near the wine tasting room. It is convenient. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. It is highly recommended.

My partner and I lunched here on a Saturday. Perfect food which was generous and tenderly made. Exceptional service from all staff but especially our waiter, Nik. We had an entree each (mine were oysters) and shared the enormous wagyu. We both squeezed in some divine desserts. This is a lively bubbly place absolutely packed out so you have to book. Don't expect to have a quiet time. Definitely worth it

Sunday lunch in the family friendly garden area was just right on a summer's day. While the woodfire pizzas took a while, the wait was worth it. Even with a GF base (+$3) the pizzas were large, fresh and tasty with fresh ingredients.

Lovely food, very flavoursome and beautifully presented. Great portion sizes. We had chef's choice tasting menu. While not all combinations of ingredients worked perfectly well in my opinion, it was a great experience. Definitely recommend.

We had an absolutely terrible experience at Sidewood Restaurant in Handof. The pizzas were incredibly oversalted, making them practically inedible. To add insult to injury, my party and I were seated outside in the rain, with water dripping onto our tables. The service was a complete disaster as well – our main course was brought out before our drinks and appetizers, leaving us bewildered and hungry. This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and I would strongly advise against wasting your time and money at this establishment.

Great expansive place to visit for a good feed and some drinks. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space to spread out. Service from most staff was spot on and happy. Pricing seemed a little excessive for portion size and quality which was the only real blemish on an otherwise great night out with friends.

Absolutely love it here! We’ve been a few times now. They never disappoint! Awesome food, service and atmosphere! My favourite place to spend a Sunday afternoon! I highly recommend!

A wonderful experience! I participated in the unique sabrage experience on offer (sabrage being the art of removing the cork of a champagne bottle using a sword) - our host Jakob was truly magnificent, running us through the history and method of sabrage, before letting me loose (under his watchful eye - apparently I did a pretty good job of it!). It was great fun, followed up by a magnificent champagne flight tasting and a top quality charcuterie board. We then followed up with an excellent lunch, which was very well prepared, cooked and presented. We even received a fine bottle of their award winning 2013 shiraz, which was gorgeous. We then followed by a relaxing sit down and drink in the well laid out burees, followed by some lawn bowls on the grounds. The staff were all fantastic; polite, and very attentive. In the end, I was also surprised and presented with the sabre that I had used for the sabrage. Truly a fantastic and unique experience that I'd highly recommend!

100% recommend this place. Everything is just how you hope it will be. Food is big. Wine is big. Price less big. Our young waitress/sommelier was excellence personified.

I could not have asked for a better experience. Beautiful relaxing surroundings, outstanding service and the food was delicious. I will certainly be telling everyone about Sidewood Restaurant and cellar door.

Stopped by for lunch and left mostly hungry. Small serving sizes for the premium price. Good flavours in the entrees and mains. Tried the ciders but flavours weren’t great

The tasting menu was UNREAL! Chef Jamie Carter produced some of the freshest and most delicious dishes I’ve had in a very long time. I’m excited to return soon and try their seasonal menu changes. Five stars!

This experience has been absolutely amazing. Professionalism was the biggest thing about this trip to Sidewood. Wayne was our server and he had a great personality, being sure to know all of our dietary requirements and know we were all satisfied. The servers were lovely bringing out our food, warm, perfectly cooked and plated. Dessert was amazing, you must try the desserts, aswell as many of the dishes. The wine was beautiful and we brought 1 bottle. Absolutely incredible experience will definitely come again.

Love the decor & unique art pieces on the wall & shelves. Cozy & warm dining place. We were at the verandah and all tables were occupied on this busy Friday afternoon. Food were amazing as well as the service. Will be back for Sunday Brunch soon.

Amazing winery and restaurant, with large indoor outdoor and mixed areas. The food was nice.

It's a really nice spot and quiet enough considering its proximity to the main road. The pizzas were nice and reasonably priced. My only issue was the mark up on their own wine was ridiculous, around 120%.

Wouldn’t recommend going here for the restaurant food. We received extremely poor service from the staff and waited over 30 minutes for our entrees to be cleared and another 30 for our mains to arrive. The mains were huge which is definitely value for money if that’s what you’re looking for. The pork was fried and an overwhelming size. We canceled our desserts due to being at the venue for over 2 hours just for 2 courses with no option to order additional drinks. We must admit we were envious of those in the outdoor casual dining.

Outstanding location and venue everything was fantastic and the service was terrific. There is a great play area for kids or adults only section. The pizza and chicken pie were great. The wine 🍷 was excellent and beers very nice.

Remy is a great waiter who really helped out my group with our lunch and drink service. Sidewood is a lovely winery and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I always thought it was a glorified food barn, Food is great, service is great, but acoustics are shocking. Everyone is shouting to be heard over everyone else. People are packed in like sardines, unpleasant.

We had an absolutely brilliant lunch. The food and wine was excellent - such lovely distinct flavours. Ali does a brilliant job. Our waiter Leanne was attentive and funny. We will be back and highly recommend Sidewood Estate Restaurant to everyone! Plover enclosure at the entrance!
