I really enjoyed seeing many endemic avian species. I was particularly interested in Ara rubrogenys as I keep them as pets in US.

Diverse little city center zoo that has much to offer, especially if you wish to see different things than in Europe. Good for kids with a couple of playgrounds. You can even get diapers at the toilets. A great afternoon stroll with a hand ful of highlights such as sloths, jaguars, tocans... Recommended!

We visited first semester this year after 30 years. It I did not change too much. Same infrastructure with less animals. Some of the cages are empty and no signs saying anything. It is sad that we do not invest a little bit more to have a decent place for our animals.

Good price but kind of depressing, the big cats have tiny cages and are clearly frustrated just walking around in a circle for hours. There is a huge place that you can walk through full of birds, tortoises and a reptile or two which was amazing but then we saw the exact same birds separately in tiny cages. The zoo looks run down and needs a lot of work and TLC for the animals.

Small zoo. You can expect to see all the exhibits in 90 minutes. Not very well kept. The zoo has no parking available. Easy to get to via public transportation.. tickets can be purchased on location. Cash only. Restrooms available inside. There are also a couple of small restaurants where you can purchase beverages and snacks.

The zoo used to be so small but now you can really see that people are taking care of it. Animals look well treated, it is a great place to meet the local fauna and have a great time with kids. If you are planning to go don't forget your sun block and umbrella. The zoo is little but really nice, you can take your own meal and have a picnic inside. Price is really low, 5$ I think... :)

Always come here whenever I get a chance. Very big zoo and well kept. I love how they let the big turtles free roam the property. I've also seen a sloth hanging around. The big walk in aviary is also a must see ! The giant blue parrots are very tame and friendly Great for taking some awsome pics !.. that being said watch out as I have personally seen them rob people's shinny buttons!! The tigers are also very impressive. Be sure to plan your trip well as you will probably want to stay all day . And don't worry they have lots of restaurants for lunch . Also many snack stands. Great place to take pics as well ! I take hundreds of pictures whenever I go. Not only the animals but also the huge assortment of flower, plants and exotic trees. Very beutiful place to visit. A very calm relaxing environment for Santa Cruz. Lots of exotic animals. All for a very affordable entry of only 10bs.

Nice zoo, but the big cats enclosures seemed much too small. Looked for the wild sloths but didn't see them. Staff were friendly & most were helpful.

Peaceful and full of comfort, But need to supplement more animals and renovate some attractions for kids to attract more people

It was sad to see some if these animal alone in their areas, animals that are naturally social, and were evidently depressed.

Despite some cages being too small, animals seem to be well kept. Well organized. It also keeps a large and meaningful collection of south America fauna. We had a nice afternoon and learnt a lot with my girlfriend. The ticket was rather cheap.

very nice small zoo with some beautiful animals I m impressed of creativity of workers to. keep the place running and looks nice without the proper financial help of local government! Shame on you politics !!

A lot of animals are kept in way too small cages (especially the pumas and jaguars) at a very loud surrounding (Main street) Fyi: Entrance is 10 Bob and a mask is required.
