We stayed at Montagu Arms for three nights while visiting with family in the area. Paddy and Karen were so sweet and accommodating, and welcomed us with a lovely gift basket in our rooms. We enjoyed the bar and restaurant on the bottom floors and had a few pints and local drinks each night with great music and company! Karen and Paddy made sure to ask us what time we needed to check in and out and were gracious hosts. Would highly recommend for couples, families, or solo travelers, and can't wait to stay here again!

Beautiful food, friendly family run business. Food is fantastic and not expensive.

New management since March. Food is delicious! Great selection of drinks. Service always friendly. It would be nice if the music was a little louder as need to talk in hushed tones for privacy if anyone else is eating because it's quite a cosy room but a brilliant spot!

Best Guinness in town. The Saturday night strip show is fantastic and the best japanese karaoke singers in Ireland

Reasonably priced drinks however very young bar staff with very little experience. Our table and those around us sat for nearly 3 hours without a glass lift. Shoddy service with no management or direction

Cracking pub and accommodation, been visiting and staying here for quite a few years now (except during covid) and keep coming back year on year.

Myself and my family (Husband & 3 children) stayed here over the weekend (30th July-1st Aug 2021) First impressions were OK, then we entered our "Family room" it was clear it hadn't been cleaned in a very very long time. Water was running orange, toilet was literally black. Dust was unbelievable and bed sheets were not clean. I complained to a staff member, Mark I believe his name was. He said he would call the cleaner!!!!! THEY DONT EVEN HAVE A CLEANER!!!!! I left and did my own thing for the day. Returned to be told by Mark that my room had been changed. Great I thought. No!!!! The bed sheets were stained, carpet stinking, shower growing mould and the complimentary tea/coffee was over a year out of date along with complimentary biscuits! Kettle was just vile!!! The whole place stank, staff were very rude and unapproachable. On the last day of our stay we had breakfast (which was the only good thing) and checked out. Nobody was there to check us out, it was left to the cook (Alan) to do this. The guy whom Alan spoke with over the phone said i was being charged £275!!!! I declined and paid what I was quoted from the manager who I was told left the day before we arrived!!!! Even the quote I paid was over priced for living in squalor! The whole place is disgusting, staff terrible and they literally have no manager nor a cleaner?! Place is a joke and Mr Poole should be very ashamed of himself. Will never be back and I highly recommend you stay away from this place until they get a new manager and appropriate staff!
