We chose this hotel as I’m a returning customer. So central to the CBD, good size, nice size rooms, clean and tidy. Brekkie buffet style and there’s an option to have drinks and dinner on the ground floor too. Staff were pleased and approachable. The only thing I’m sad about is there used to be Happy Hour at the dinner venue anymore. The car park isn’t run by the hotel anymore but VIP were fantastic too. Tony was amazing. Overall, a great place to stay for a few days for either business or pleasure. Thanks again

I stayed here for the first time in 2020, just prior to the pandemic, and for a second time recently. Both times I was impressed by the exceptionally friendly service and relaxing experience I had staying at Hotel Grand Chancellor. The room are clean and comfortable. As someone with muscular issues, I often struggle with hotel beds but the ones here are fantastic. Perfect mix between soft and firm in my opinion! I really enjoy the rainwater showers as well. I was upgraded to a suite when I first stayed and the suites have much more spacious and comfortable bathrooms. The location is very central and it is an easy walk (even as someone who can only walk short distances) to a variety of attractions in Melbourne CBD including Central, the State Library and a bunch of theatres. The hotel itself backs on to Little Bourke st so great food is pretty much at your doorstep. Having said that, the staff are definitely the high point of staying at Hotel Grand Chancellor. Everyone I met was polite and friendly, even when I was fumbling my cards and making last minute changes to my booking. They make staying with the hotel an absolute delight. Definitely my first choice hotel when I stay in Melbourne.

All the staff were incredible. The room was clean and tidy and for the price we thought it was great! Very comfortable pillows. They had a roof top pool that looks lovely. We woke to a voucher for 20 per head breakfast at the buffet. We took this opportunity up and we are very glad that we did it was fantastic! Would definitely stay again.

A Nightmare at Chancellor Hotel: A Masterclass in Disappointment I recently had the displeasure of staying at the Chancellor Hotel, and I can confidently say that it was one of the most disastrous hotel experiences of my life. From the moment I stepped foot into this establishment, I was greeted with disappointment at every turn. Let's start with the staff. Incompetence seemed to be their specialty, as they consistently failed to provide even the most basic level of customer service. The receptionists were uninterested, rude, and seemed to possess zero knowledge about the hotel's amenities or local recommendations. It was as if they were doing me a favor by allowing me to stay there. Next, let's discuss the rooms. Dingy, outdated, and lacking even a semblance of cleanliness, they were an absolute horror show. The bed was uncomfortable, the linens were threadbare, and the furniture seemed to have been salvaged from a thrift store reject pile. The bathroom was a whole other level of revulsion, with moldy tiles, leaking faucets, and a distinct odor that made me question whether the housekeeping staff had ever heard of cleaning products. Now, let's move on to the noise. If you enjoy the soothing sounds of construction machinery and street traffic throughout the night, then this is the perfect hotel for you. The noise insulation was nonexistent, making it virtually impossible to get a decent night's sleep. It felt as if the hotel was situated right in the middle of an active construction site. Oh, and let's not forget about the "amenities" promised on their website. The fitness center was a joke, consisting of a single rusty treadmill and some outdated dumbbells. The so-called "high-speed" Wi-Fi was slower than a snail on tranquilizers, making it impossible to even load a simple webpage. And good luck trying to find a parking spot in their cramped and poorly maintained parking garage. To top it all off, the location of the Chancellor Hotel was less than desirable. Situated in a shady part of town, I constantly felt unsafe venturing outside after dark. The surrounding area lacked any decent dining options or attractions, leaving me stranded with limited choices. In conclusion, the Chancellor Hotel is a disgraceful excuse for a lodging establishment. From the abysmal staff to the decrepit rooms and nonexistent amenities, it is a place that embodies disappointment in every aspect. Save yourself the anguish and find another hotel that actually values its guests.

Terrible hotel. Shower has no pressure and only a few streams of water came out. There were two temperatures: boiling water or arctic ice. No toothpaste — I called the reception and they claimed that there it should be in a hygiene pack. This didn’t exist. I called up again and they said they’ll send some up. It never came. I had to go downstairs to ask for some. Bed was comfy though.

We spent 2 nights here. It was within walking distance from St Vincent's Hospital. Our room was very spacious, with a great ensuite and the bed was so comfy. We had a little balcony as well. I spent one night there by myself and felt very safe. The staff were helpful and everything was clean. The cost was very reasonable and would highly recommend staying here.

Very outdated and probably was 4 star hotel in the 1980s. For the price we had higher expectations. Firstly, we cannot fault the customer service, all staff were great to deal with. Upon entering the room though they are very dated and small. The shower had no pressure and is either scorching hot or cold. The room service menu is redeeming but after 10pm you cannot access any of the drinks - how is it possible to have some butter chicken but not a simple milkshake for a midnight snack? We had high hopes particularly because of the price but have stayed at properties that are cheaper and have better amenities. The location to the theatres and other major Melbourne highlights is attractive but we feel that there would be other locations within the area that are of higher quality for the same or even cheaper.

When I think of the word "grand", other words spring to mind: such as awe-inspiring, dignified and glorious. I'm sure in its day, the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Melbourne could well have been described as any of those words. Sadly today it looks tired and sad, and far from "grand". The photography on Booking. com of the hotel and rooms would lead one to believe that the hotel is of a high standard. Sadly it far from that. I booked for 3 nights and paid $180 each night for the room. In my mind it is not value for money, but I suppose one is paying for the location. It is central and within easy walking distance to many attractions. When one pays that much, one would expect bottled water, but that's an additional cost, even though there are drinking and wine glasses in the room. The cleanliness and lack of housekeeping was so horrendous that I cancelled my last night and went elsewhere. The buffet breakfast costs an $30, or you could have it delivered to your room for an additional $5 delivery fee. The food was basic and of poor quality. It was all presented well, but was cold and therefore unappetizing, and certainly not worth $30! Housekeeping was "on request", although this was not communicated to me on check-in. Judging from my room, I'm not sure housekeeping had even been into my room. There was thick dust and the bedding was torn. The towels were thin and very worn, again not one would expect from a 4 star hotel. Finally, fire safety issues are well below standard. Photos attached…. For a 4 star hotel, there is room for improvement and I most definitely will not be staying there again.

The Classic King room we stayed in was a good size, with a comfortable bed & linen. There were two arm chairs in the room which were comfortable also. It's not a brand new hotel, so a little dated, but I would definitely stay here again. The location is great and the staff are friendly.

Bar and reception area really well presented and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. However!! the rooms did not have the same standard, bathroom had broken tiles in it and there was mould around the edges of the bath. Whoever did the tiling in the bathroom should change careers, certainly not something I would expect in a hotel with the name grand in it. Pokey room with a balcony that was filthy. Plates left out in corridor for over 5 hours. Will not book there again. Again thanks to the staff for being friendly and helpful.

Service was fantastic, and location was great. Short walk into China town for food and easy access to most areas. Room was slightly dated though, older TV which would not let me change hdmi inputs. Roof top pool was nice, and the night view was great.

Even though I used my walker, the staff and managers were very helpful, friendly, and polite. I slept 😴 well and had help by the staff for my fantastic breakfast. So I thank all the staff for making my stay enjoyable.

I just want to thank all of the staff. From management who answered my email in a request for accommodation when the Taylor swift concert was on and we were not there for the concert but for a very important meeting. To the staff at the front desk and the lovely cleaners. We stayed on the 8th floor and had a wonderful view of the city. We were very well looked after and very greatful for the wonderful service we received all round.

The room is decent, as is the bathroom attached. Service on check in was ok, nothing to complain or brag about. It was very busy as we stayed at the same time as the antipodes festival, and there wasn't any peace or quiet, the festival noise filtered through the window of the room. Went to check out the pool, it was definitely NOT HEATED. It was freezing. And so didn't go in. Not any view to brag about either from the rooftop. Lastly, the lifts and elevators are VERY slow and also VERY dodge. We got stuck in one for 5 minutes on the way down, and every time we needed to catch a lift we had to wait at least 5 minutes, sometimes more. They have two lifts, one elevator seemed to be broken half the time and both were incredibly slow to wait for and also slow to ride. Location is good obviously, city Central. But for $445 for one night for two people to share a bed left me pretty unimpressed especially when there was an additional $100 security bond. Don't really rate this pace to be honest. You can also hear easily through the walls regardless if there's a festival on

We stayed for 3 days, overall it was a decent hotel. Nice but very out dated in the main areas of the hotel. Our room was a nice and spacious but the air con didnt work very well and the shower pressure was pretty bad. House keeping was good. Sophia at reception was lovely but another lady who checked us in treated us like we were an interruption. On Monday and Tuesday mornings we were woken up by renovation work being done in the floors above us. So don't expect to sleep past 7am. It would have been nice to have been pre warned about the renovations before our stay. When your on holiday it would be nice to have the option to sleep in if you wanted. One of the hotel lifts was out of order and the pool area was unavailable even though it was advertised. Good central location though and super easy to get to anything.

  • 5/5 Mel A. 4 months ago on Google • 36 reviews
From arrival to departure the staff and service provided was flawless, we had to call reception because the aircon was not working, within 5-10 mins we had the service team at the door ready to repair it. check in was a simple process, parking onsite was easy to access (and you can pay at checkout as a part of your stay) we had a very small balcony (could barely fit out the door because the AC unit was behind it) Breakfast was included which was a bonus and other facilities were great. We would stay here again.

Room was clean and comfortable but very dated and zero view. Lift and hall ways very run down and worn. Breakfast expensive for what you get and not much in the way of in room dining. For a hotel supposedly rated 4stars its not offering the fresh clean overall experience you expect from a 4-5star establishment.

We stayed in a standard hotel room. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. There was a small bar fridge and the bed was comfortable +++. The view from the room wasn't that great and the floor we were on looked a little unfinished. But otherwise the room was everything we needed. The rooftop pool was awesome ! Absolutely loved it. There was only 10 deck chairs available which means when it's busy there wouldn't be many places to sit but otherwise it was still cool. Staff were really friendly ! We forgot a birthday cake in the hotel room, and staff were extremely helpful in helping us retrieve the cake the next day (leave it in their dining room fridge, not in the bar fridge).

We were not advised the Greek Festival was on literally at our front door so two of our five night stay will be unbearably loud and if we could move we would! Only one lift was operating which meant delays of several minutes for the lift to come. Clean but very dated and won't be back. It was difficult to get into to the hotel due to the number of people sitting on the steps consuming food and leaving food and rubbish behind. Very noisy. No views as suggested and the balcony was a joke!

This should NOT be a 4 star hotel. When driving down the alley way parking, the “valet” parking seemed very strange and suspicious set up. We were then told to go into an elevator that smelt like off meat or mold. There were a bunch of printed signs that directed to out the back near the kitchen, around the dining area and finally to the reception. We checked in and the service was nice. We then went to use the elevators to go to our floor, to notice that there were one set for odd numbers and another for even numbers? So we went on another adventure guided by signs to find the elevator that could take us to our floor. Once we got there, we had to walk through what seemed to be an old residential apartment area with dirty ripped carpet, and reading signs that took us to the hotel area. Once we got into the hotel room, there was a “balcony” with an illegally high step to get up and out, without any warning signs, and our “city view” was a wall and aircon unit. The door was old and there was zero sound proofing, we could hear toilets flush and everyone in their own rooms and people walking past. The ceiling is very low and seems a bit claustrophobic, nothing like the pictures. No milk for the tea and coffee there, no bottled water or hair dryer or anywhere to hang clothing. We had cracked walls and chipped paint and stained sheets. If I didn’t know, I would think this is a motel, not a 4 star hotel in Melbourne. Please do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.

A crackin' good price via a hotel booking aggregator, made this a remarkably affordable Father's Day option due to it's proximity to my twin daughters who presently reside in Melbourne for their Uni-Years. An obvious, recent refit contributed to a good rom-feel; nice lighting, great temperature controls, comfy seating and a great bed, AND a wonderful, albeit smallish exterior balcony facing north to catch a bit of welcome sunshine in the cooller moths of the year. All around a very solid hotel option. I didn't spend a ton of time in my room, but I had needed to, I'd have been happy to. Staff were amazingly courteous during my interactions. The only negatives, minor for me, were that my room was proximate to the elevator and perhaps a bit noisy as a result. I'd recommend a more sound resistant door next time they freshen up the building. And the water pressure in my shower was a little low. That could either be a 17th floor thing in general, or specific to the room I had (1701). Not at all unusable, but definitely on the low-flow end of low-flow. But all in all, for what I paid, a very good experience.

Stayed in the king room (2nd floor) and everything seems perfect except the bathroom floods everytime you shower because the configuration was wrong. The water is not draining in the almost flat bathroom. Another thing about the room is it’s not soundproof. You can hear the yellings of the drunks on the street. Other than these two issues, I will still come back and book a higher floor. It’s a convenient location and the staff are all friendly. The cafe is nice and serves one of the best chai latte in town.

I thought I was staying at a construction site. All day the noise vibrations are terrible. It’s giving me a migraine. Never again… They dnt even give you any notice that there is work happening. Definitely not quiet at all.

  • 2/5 Ray K. 7 months ago on Google
Very shabby for a 4 stars hotel. No microwave. Damaged furnitures. Bathroom doesn't have any place to hang your clothes, and the shower will spill out and make the toilet wet. Water pressure was equivalent to someone poking a whole in a bottle and letting it drip on you. Overall would not recommend.

So I recently stayed for a 2 night visit, the staff onsite were wonderful, working under extremely difficult conditions considering the ongoing renovations etc. but the overall experience was compromised in my view by the failure of management to meet the standards the ground staff were trying to hold yo & I’m sure that management expected them to. My room phone was for my stay completely useless, every time you pick it up all I got was a busy signal with no ability to dial anywhere let alone out, as such I went to reception personally to place room service orders on multiple occasions, as taking these orders was not part of the reception duties inevitably my orders were wrong when delivered (through no fault of the staff but of the failure of management to implement appropriate procedures due to their lack of proper replacement procedures). I had to make the physical trip to reception 4 times due to the phone being out of service (also remembering that one of the elevators is shut down due to the renovation) , I was actually told that I should use my personal phone to call externally rather than make the trip down from my room, but seriously why should I have to work around their failures @ my own expense. When I needed a bucket of ice for my room I was told to take a seat and wait while they tried to find someone from the restaurant to give it to me rather than they get that person (any person) to actually do their job and deliver it to my room. What’s the bet one of the room service charges of $5 per service is for me taking my own ice to my room. When I stayed at the GCH in Hobart everything was perfection, unfortunately whilst the customer facing staff are trying their best & GCH Melbourne they are being failed by management and executive level staff who are completely without leadership.

Good location hotel in CBD, the size of the rooms also not too bad but, the lobby looks a bit dull. Need some touch up or renew the look but not bad. The signboard of hotel is a bit dirty, or the wording looks faded. Rooms are great. Newly renovated. Recommended if looking for budget hotel in CBD.

Fantastic location, rooms a bit flat, would be good for a business person here for work as two resturants in the hotel. Big comfy bed though. But tiny, old bathroom. But a few steps from Chinatown or Her Majorstys Theater. And amazing food so close. Worth it for location and its just a bed

Stayed at this hotel last Friday for one night before flying out to Vietnam. Over all it was a very pleasant stay. The staff were extremely polite & helpful. However one thing we were very confused about? We booked for breakfast & were given complentary tickets we assumed it was complentary but, when we went to check out we were told we had to pay???? Please do not give false promises & just avoid using the tickets. Also the shower in our room was very slippery & dangerous as we are an elderly couple we really didn't find it very user friendly.

I had a combined bath/shower. I don't like this option personally. There was a bulk head above the bath and that is where the fixed shower head was situated which made the standing height under the shower head very short. I am only 168cm tall and had to bend my knees in order to get under the shower head to wash my hair. To rectify this, the shower head could be replaced with a shower rose on a hose so it could be used flexibly. The TV did not have all free to air channels eg Channel 11, and all movies required payment. There was Foxtel but no Foxtel movie channels. I used the small gym. I could not see a remote for the TV or air conditioner. The gym is on the roof near the pool. The gym is a fully enclosed room with fixed windows to the city skyline. There was no sign on the door to indicate it was the gym. I felt vulnerable in the gym in regard to personal safety and no one nearby in case of an emergency; no emergency button or phone to call Reception staff. The property is very old but serviceable. I found the room was not very quiet during the night and I could hear a dripping sound. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I could only see stairs (about 6 stairs) to enter the hotel off the street. There is no concierge to assist.

Service and room were nice, but they took a ridiculous amount of extra money from my account to "hold the room" or something, meaning I was down several hundreds of dollars for the following week. I also left something in the room and they failed to even attempt to assist me with finding it.

Unfortunately this hotel is a bit run down and needs some TLC. However location wise, it's a great spot. The customer service is also friendly and the beds are comfortable. I was locked out of my room as my key didn't work and the team were quick to send someone up to sort it out.

  • 3/5 Z V. 1 year ago on Google
Rooms were alright for the price you pay! 3 stars only because there was road works during the WHOLE NIGHT outside which I understand is out of control however we did not get told about it prior to arrival (and they would have been told about this from the council in advance) and the staff member at the front desk only told us about this AFTER we paid for the room and she said it is only "a little bit of noise." It was definitely not just a "little bit" of noise and I am not even a light sleeper. This should be communicated with guests before arrival. I would have cancelled if we had known and gone elsewhere.

Our room had two single beds pushed together, and called a King. It wasn't. The floor on the entry was filthy and hadn't been cleaned in a while. The bathroom had piss stains on the floor in front if the toilet. The furniture was worn down to the frame underneath in some points. Our "Superior King Room" had a balcony that had a wonderful view of a brick wall 10 feet away and that's it. All this for approximately $400 for two nights. Oh and to top it all off, when we complained about the cleanliness, we were told the managed would contact us. They didn't. We waited for 45 minutes, and nothing. So we got a refund and went to the Rydges, and couldn't be happier. Oh and it was cheaper, with easily the best food we've had in years via room service. Grand Chancellor is rubbish. Dont waste your time.

The staff at the hotel were awsome. We had a small issue on booking. Harry fixed straight away. We had an issue with uber eats and the girls helped me contact the driver and sort out my families dinner. My son had a sleep accident and they fixed that no questions asked. My wife ordered a couple of cocktails at the bar and Bruno carried the drinks up with her and she didnt ask. Honestly....the staff made our stay really enjoyable. Great location aswell. Thanks heaps guys

Worst place I've ever stayed in Melbourne. The Premier King room is very disappointing, we walked in to all the blinds closed so the room was very dark and unwelcoming. The towels were dirty and the bed cover stained. To make things worse, we were on the second floor right on the busy Lonsdale Street. It was so loud with cars beeping and going past all night. There was also a nightclub two doors down. With the road noise and nightclub, I was barely able to sleep. Very disappointing.

Great service and rooms for a decent price! Honestly doesn't get better than this. Valet parking, rooftop pool, movies on demand billed straight to your room, room service, big and comfy bed, perfect location, cheap price and super friendly staff. Only minor complaint is the water pressure could be better. Overall amazing and will definitely stay again!

Great value for essentially a 4-5 star hotel. Room was very spacious and had everything expected. Nice bathtub/shower combo. Also was good to see a hotel providing pay tv, something which is becoming rarer. Finally roof top pool provided a good view of the city, nice temperature and wasn't packed like other ones

The staff are very warm and friendly. Room service is on the pricey side but food is good. My only complaint is that the windows are not double glazed so even though I was on the 15th floor, the traffic noise from Lonsdale St really resonated into the room.

The staff were so incredibly welcoming and helpful! My daughter has limited mobility so I called beforehand to make sure the hotel was accessible. They answered every question I had, and when we arrived early, arranged for us to check into our room straight away so my daughter could rest before her specialist appointment. When we arrived we realised that a few screws on her new wheelchair fell out - Front Desk arranged for Maintenance to have it fixed within the hour! The room was clean and well presented and had everything we needed (though the bathroom was a little tired), the valet parking in the basement (not run by the hotel but closely affiliated) was excellent, and the location of the hotel was fabulous. We'll definitely stay again, although an access ramp from the street to reception would make it even better! Thank you Grand Chancellor!

My stay began by first of all getting stuck in the lift on the way to my room, rang the receptionist and she didn’t seem to worried and it felt like it happened regularly. Room was okay, defiantly not a 4 star room, 2 maximum. The next morning I got stuck in the lift again on my way down from my room, twice in one day. Water was not provided in the room and when I asked for water at reception I was told it was $4 a bottle, complete joke. Only good thing I have to say is the hotel was in a good location. Also waited over 2 weeks for my security deposit to be returned into my account.

Would of given just 3 stars for the hotel it self...but the staff were lovely, very helpful and accommodating. I think I would only visit again because of the pool...this is wonderful! Hotel room was clean but bathroom/shower pokey and old...stand in bathtub shower, I'm only 170cm and trying to wash my hair I kept hitting the roof!

Decent value for money hotel right amongst the action the CBD has to offer. We stayed for the Australian Open tennis and was an ideal location with an easy walk to Melbourne Park Check in and check out was easy, staff were polite and friendly. Room was clean and tidy albeit a bit outdated, and the rooftop pool was nice. Downside was one of the two elevators was broken which was a nightmare for guests as there was constantly people waiting and bundling in the lift to check out/in and leave their rooms in general. We spent 15 mins waiting for a vacant lift

The staff here are absolutely amazing, could not fault them. Alex from the kitchen staff was explaining what each of the food options are, as I have autism and I can be a very picky eater because of it because I can not deal with some textures. He helped me figure out what I wanted, I ended up getting the beef cheeks, and they were the best of anything beef I have ever had. It was so soft you barely had to chew it. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review is because the rooms were a little small and could have a bit better of a room. Also as you go up to go to the pool, there is a piece of wood on the floor where you step, and it is very easy to trip on, I almost fell over on it. Aside from the actual rooms themselves, this place is Amazing.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location because you can walk to city centre. The room is quite small and the shower is the worst. very difficult to adjust the temperature and the bathtub is a bit damaged. I told the front and they changed a room but no improvement. Also no plugs around night stand. Not a single bottle of water in the fridge, which was disappointing. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Maybe good for one night stay but I do not recommend staying here for any longer.

Great value for money! Obviously a very old hotel, it could definitely use a refresh but the room was clean and the amenities were good. The staff were so welcoming and sweet. Thank you for a great stay.

Stopped in for dinner at Encore. Service was slow (45 min for meals to arrive after ordering) in an empty restaurant. Incredibly small selection menu so I went with a medium rare porterhouse which was cooked perfectly....but warm/cold by the time it was sitting in front of me. Maybe this place is sufficient for guests but not a destination for food. Footnote: the 4 meals we received were cooked well and full of flavour.

Staff were very accommodating and facilities excellent! We stayed on the 17th floor overlooking Lonsdale street and the view was amazing. Bed very comfortable, and room was spacious. Personalised welcome on the TV Screen was very nice and the shower and bathroom very great quality with very nice fittings! Great bar and restaurant too. Can't fault this hotel, great stay, great staff, best view I have ever had from a hotel, we took so many pic's! Highly recommend to anyone!

Room was comfortable and clean if not a little small. The step out of the shower was a little high which could cause a slip. Loved the bed though. Comfortable and big. What let the hotel down was the dinner service. The staff serving were very pleasant. However the problem was they seem to get things wrong. Only poured one glass of wine instead of two, served only one starter and we ordered dessert which we had to cancel as it didn't arrive after 20 minutes and had to go see a show. When we got back we ordered cappuccinos and got lukewarm coffee with no chocolate sprinkle. My thoughts were inexperienced staff in the restaurant. We had breakfast in the morning which was discounted and had no issue with the quality. Understand mistakes might happen if they were really busy but the restaurant was very quiet so no real excuse getting the sort of things already stated wrong.

The hotel looks to be undergoing a refurbishment. This wasn't advised on check-in, but being woken every morning to hammering either above or next to me wasn't pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. However, the bathroom was not practical. Water from the shower leaks due to the design. Therefore, your bath mat is soaked, and there's nowhere to hang it to dry out. Walls are paper thin, so you hear everything! The rooftop pool is small but does the job. I was there for 3 warm days, and getting a seat can be tough! I'm not sure if the water is heated, but it was quite warm. Great location of you need to be in the city. Staff are all friendly.

From the first steps into the beautiful entrance way, we were greeted by the welcoming and gracious Vik and staff. Our room was beautifully functional and the view was spectacular as it overlooked the dazzling city streets below. We very much enjoyed our stay here and will plan to return in the future. 😊

Great hospitality. Great location (right at CBD). Great rooftop pool. Rooms are little small and the balcony is tiny but not a big issue. The buffet breakfast was good. Happy with the stay.

Pros: #1. spacious room, with a desk; #2. in a central location; #3. a great rooftop pool; #4. Restaurant food is yum and not too pricey. Cons: #1. there was construction going on that had not been mentioned when booking, or on the website, or on check-in - instead I woke to the loud sound of drilling, which was awful after a flight when needing a sleep-in to get over time differences. There was no apology or any attempt to do anything when I raised this with reception. #2. The bathrooms have been renovated & look modern, but are impractical and risky: there was a big step up into the shower (which has a very low ceiling) with no handrail to help when stepping back down with a wet floor (& nothing to stop water dripping everywhere). I have a leg impairment and found it very scary & difficult each time I needed to step up, but especially down, from the shower. Would not have booked here had I known of this setup (I’m fine with normal bathrooms but this was inaccessible even for my needs). #3. negligible signage to help you find the pool (or the right door when you need to come back down), and the pool only has a narrow ladder style entry - needs steps.

This was possibly one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, the the hotel refuses to even offer a refund, not even a partial refund, making me file the refund direct with my credit card provider, just to slow things down, and just end up with another unhappy customer. (1) Hotel had no parking, I was told to go to valet parking a few doors down, only to be told it's only available for "small" cars. I drive a sedan, not a 4WD. (2) We paid for breakfast for both days. We were not given any more information. When we called room service in the morning, to ask where to get the breakfast from, they said we paid for "buffet" breakfast, not the "chancellor" breakfast ( not that we knew what was offered, or told, nor do we even know the difference ). Anyway, buffet breakfast closed at 10:00am, so no breakfast. We asked to have the chancellor breakfast, they said we had to pay full price ( even though the buffet breakfast was already fully paid for ). (3) We were meant to have a queen bed ( we paid nearly $800 for 2 nights ). We got 2 single beds, side by side, mind you both had different types of mattresses. (4) We were sold on the "balcony". I won't even get into that. It was horrible. We stayed the first night, then checked out and left. No apologies. No refunds. No credit. Nothing. I expect an apology, along with a refund.

This trip was arranged as a gift. Upon arrival staff were nice. Inside the room were cockroaches and bugs in the bed. No acknowledgement from management when the booking agent was contacting them. No help from staff to contain the roach infestation coming out of the air-conditioning. Stayed in a queen room on the 1/3/24. Could not stay at this hotel. So disappointing.
