What's not to love about a well designed and maintained garden? And the owners are very personable too. This was my first time here and although too late for the wonderful colours it's definately on my return list for earlier in Autumn and of course Spring. I'm honoured to have been provided with the opportunity to capture its beauty from an angle not seen by everyone. Next up is viewing it up close from the ground.

One of my most favourite gardens to go to. The grounds are huge and peaceful. You can enjoy a picnic with family. The ladies who look after it are so lovely. Every season has something different and if you come in during the various seasons you will get to see the changes of the wisteria flower. Different seasons have different flowers, keep an eye on their fb and Insta you will get to see sunflowers, wisteria, an edible garden, a maze and many many fruits and vegetables. Please take your rubbish with you and make sure to be considerate of other people.

A very chill and relax garden to visit, it’s huge and well organised. During the Spring seasons , flower was blooming, feeling so great. The garden are well maintained, clean arch paths, section were well labeled on the map. Easy to spot and know where you are. There is also a small maze, but more like a maze path, just one way path and follow along the way. πŸ˜†

We love this place. It’s big with different beautiful gardens, you will need to spend couple of hours here. It’s a great spot for families or those who love nature and gardening. The nursery is also fantastic with a good range of orchids, citrus tree to native, indoor and outdoor plants. Extremely friendly staffs.

Absolutely stunning gardens. Season is important, as it is imports to go when the flowers are in bloom. Personally I didn't find the gardens land area to be super large. I have travelled to parts of Europe and found many of the gardens over there to be spread over vast greater areas of land, making for more impressive gardens that are awe inspiring. With that rat, my score is based on relatively. Relative to Australia and Victoria standards, I believe this Gardens to be worth a visit. You can choose also to picnic here as well. Or alternatively visit the chocolate restaurant 5 minutes around the corner. At the very least, you are sure to get some pretty nice photos at these gardens, so would be a good visit for photographers.

Alowyn Gardens are on 6 acres of land. There are several theme gardens, but I do not get overly excited with I see or experience. The Wisteria Garden is supposedly a draw card, but disappointly Wisteria is not in season. Otherwise they grow over the arches. There are lots of Agapanthus Blue. They are perennial with bell shape flowers. I am never keen about this plant, as it grow wild in my own garden once. The French Garden shows of elegant pattern using Buxus as hedges. The Zen Garden is under reconstruction, and therefore a non-issue for the visit. The other gardens such as the French Provincial Garden, Vegetable Garden, Dry Garden do not reach my expectation. However, I see some visitors get very excited over the fruits dangling from the trees, It is not a floral garden, and therefore colours are lacking. I have seen much better gardens I was travelling in a group of 25. The cafe ran out of food.

Very nice place to visit with complete family. You can take your throws, sheets, bat and ball and easily spend a day. If you are looking to buy some plants , I recommend to give a visit to this nursery. Love the place. Best time to visit there is Spring Don't forget to put your sunscreen on.

The gardens at this place are really nice, and the entrance fee is $15 AUD per person, but kids get in for free. The entrance to the cafe or nursery is free as well. The gardens themselves are amazing, and we spent about 1.5 hours there, which was enough time to fully enjoy them. The setup is very nice, and it’s clear that they are well taken care of. One of our favorite parts was the birch forest. It was truly amazing, especially when we visited after lunch during the week, as there weren’t too many people around. Overall, it was a great experience, and we highly recommend visiting these beautiful gardens.

This is a hidden gem right next to the Yarra Valley chocolaterie. It has the most amazing gardens of sorts and even a maze for the kids if you happen to have any. Would highly recommend going here if you are in the area. As of June 2023, the entry was $15/adult, where you can enjoy all 7 acres of gardens. They also have a nursery, hence if you love plants, come prepared to buy some goodies for your garden.

The Autumn colours were simply stunning! $15 entry fee for adults (kids free) was quite reasonable given how much effort it would take to maintain the gardens. There is a cafe on-site, however we brought our own picnic lunch, there are some tables available for use. The nursery had a good variety of plants and garden ornaments to check out as well. Would definitely consider coming back in spring to see a different side to the gardens, especially the Wisteria in bloom.

The Aolwyn gardens are simply beautiful and deserved to be placed on any visit to the Yarra valley. Stunning flowers and nooks and crannies to explore, it easily filled in a couple of hours.

Loved these gardens, so pretty during Autumn, highly recommend visiting during this time as the colours are so beautiful. A nicely maintained garden with plenty of different areas to see and very picturesque. There is a $12 entrance fee which is worth it for what you get to see. Wear comfy walking shoes as the garden is of a good size so you'll be walking a fair bit. Would definitely be back in Spring to see what this garden looks like in that season.

We just had our team day out at the gardens. What a beautiful experience Pru, John and the team has given us, thank you so much! πŸ™πŸ€— We had a delicious lunch with healthy sandwiches, fruit and other treats. The garden offered so many interesting areas to explore and be fascinated by. We can't wait to come back to see the seasonal changes. Oh, and don't forget to visit the gift shop and nursery as well, a pure delight too! Thank you for making this such a memorable day for us all. Xxx Kate and the team

A place with serenity and tranquility, can easily spend hours within exploring, learning, taking pictures; children & family friendly, it is also a great place to have quality time with your loved ones. BYO and picnic in the French garden would make me return. Totally worth it and huge respect to the owner! Definitely return to be amazed by its unique beauty in different seasons. 🌷🌻🍁🌲

Absolutely gorgeous! Unfortunately couldn't enter the garden as it was raining quite heavily but there is lots to see apart from the garden. The nursery has beautiful varieties. You would surely want to take home one with you πŸ’•

A number of different themed gardens which are interesting to walk through and discover some new plants. The gardens are well established and there is something to interest any gardener. The entry price is reasonable for $12 for adults and you can easily spend an hour or two walking around or longer if you want to sit and enjoy. The nursery has plenty of choice and there were a few interesting species in there I haven't seen in other places.

7 acres of garden with various sections including a mini maze, French garden & vegetable garden. The Zen garden wasn’t very zen. I thought there’d be fish in the pond, instead it was covered in mushy algae. Some gardeners out on this particular day (Friday) so got in the way of trying to take photos. None the less there are many pretty spots & opportunities for photos. It annoyed me seeing kids walking on & across garden beds. Please teach your kids some etiquette & respect for the work put in for you to enjoy. Perhaps some signs can be put up to not walk through garden beds. There are toilets on site across from the cafe & a separate nursery selling items for your gardening needs. Would love to come in Spring to see the Wisteria archway in bloom. $15 Adults $12.50 Students/Seniors/Concession

Well worth a visit! Beautiful extremely well maintained gardens. Great to explore on a nice sunny day. I visited in mid September and the cherry apple trees were in bloom and looked amazing. Really friendly and welcoming staff. Great nursery attached with reasonable prices well worth the visit.

Lovely gardens to stroll around for a few hours. I would recommend a picnic basket if you plan to hang around for awhile. The cafe can get quite busy, so be prepared to wait around for drinks in the weekends

After passing the gardens 100 times in our travels and saying "we should go there", we finally found a weekend with nice weather to drop in. The gardens are all done really well with different styles in sections. Well worth the walk around. They have a vegetable patch and I never thought I would get so excited about all the different varieties of pumpkins.

Lovely place for those who loves gardens and plants. The place is well maintained and staff were smiling and very accomodating. They also sell plants and pots as well as garden soils. Cafe is also available for that coffee fix with tables outside to soak up the views and sun. Older people and couples will surely enjoy this place.

Great gardens and dat out! - huge gardens to spend quite a good time on, - very well maintained and everything was so attractive - bring mozzie spray! Unfortunately the cafe was the biggest let down (premade unflattering sandwiches) - If this place had a selection of simple hot fried food would be great (hot chips is a must here) Shop section was great with lots of options and variety.

Beautiful garden just an hour away from Melbourne. Very nice place to enjoy few hours. They have varieties of plants to buy from their nursery. Their is a cafe inside which is very busy . We went their just for coffee and we had to wait for 30 mins which was disappointing as there is Yarra valley chocolatier next to garden and has fabulous cafe. Overall very good place to spent couple of hours.

This garden is just 5 minutes from Yarra Chocolate. A good place to go and enjoy the garden. It has a nice cafe and nursery. Apparently they are open for weddings. Beautiful wisteria arches. Worth viewing.

These are such amazing gardens! We went there right after it had just been raining and so this ment that we had the place to ourselves more a majority of the time. It was such a peaceful and calming experience. The gardens have so much to offer and you definitely need to make sure you have your map in hand at all times to ensure you don't skip any part of the gardens. I found it amazing that the garden was very stragically created so that if you followed the path, it literally took you in an amazing journey, seeing all the different aspects of the gardens. Loved the pumpkin display that was near the front of the entrance as well. The shop also has so much to offer. Will be returning here in the future.

A relaxing place to visit. Wanna come back in Spring!

The gardens are simply amazing. Really great designs and pretty symmetry. I wasn't that keen to go, obviously wife was the enforcer, but totally blown away at how stunning the "simplistic" garden appears. Pyramid or conical shaped trees line many entrances. The stunning apiary tunnels. As a non-gardening person I would recommend this place.

Had a lovely picnic in the French garden, took a tour by the perennials and the wisteria arch. Walked the labyrinth (a little disappointed with that one) and finished with a field of roses. 🌹🌲πŸ₯€πŸŒ³

We visited this amazing garden today. WOW. Being the owner of a three acre garden myself I know the amount of love, sweat and tears that would have gone into Alowyn over the past 26years. And the physical and mental battles with the soil, mother nature and council would have been so draining. Anyone who knocks this garden has never picked up a shovel and attempted to create a living work of art. Thank you for the ABSOLUTE pleasure of letting us experience your passion. ❀ ❀ ❀

Cool spring morning with a spot of rain or two. We were able to walk the garden for the first time. It's truly a stunning spot to visit.

What a lovely place to wander around. The wisteria wasn't flowering yesterday but roses were. There is a lovely silver birch 'forest', a lake with a healthy population of vocal frogs, a fir forest, a maze, kitchen garden and lots else. Plenty of ideas for home gardens or simply enjoy walking around and having a picnic.

Was a nice garden to visit, but not extraordinary in my opinion. I appreciate the great effort and detail in the stunning hedge shapes, but not much else did it for me. The nursery has a great range of plants which are fairly priced to what you would expect. Thanks for the experience.

Really interesting garden laid out as 7 themed spaces. Lovely place for an afternoon stroll, and open all year (except Christmas and Boxing days). A wide variety of interesting plants in nice settings, with some sculpture dispersed throughout. A nursery is attached (yes, kids, you can try this at home) with a pleasant cafe. Only criticism is that it is not quite as well kept as other gardens around Melbourne.

This is a Nursery, with extensive gardens you can walk, explore or just sit in a quiet private spot. Visiting the nursery is free, but a walk will cost about $15. They do weddings here as well.
