Nice clean restaurant, bartenders Lisa & Kristen were very nice and knowledgeable. Female General Manger was very nasty to customers about where to sit. She wanted to sit people within 1 ft right next to each other. During this pandemic that was not a good idea. I ask her were she in business to keep customers or run them away? The food was a 1 out of 10, but the drinks were GREAT. Had the chicken wings and they were HORRIBLE, all fat and very distasteful...

We aren't able to give a review on food, because our order was never taken. We got a seat really quickly. There were 12 tables that were occupied in the restaurant. The servers in the dining areas were doing a great job of taking care of their customers. We ended up being seated in a booth in the bar area and weren't really given a choice. Long story short, we left the restaurant because it took 25 minutes for us to realize the waitress in the booth, bar area, was not in any sense of urgency to come get out drink, appetizers or food order. There was a couple that waited at the door for a hostess, for what seemed like forever. We asked, In a joking manner, if they wanted to join us. They laughed and said yes, before a waitress finally noticed the hostess was nowhere to be found. I don't normally walk out on a restaurant because after working 33 years in the industry, I know it can get busy..... BUT...... It was not busy. We were in Applebee's on July 15th around 2:30 pm. I won't mention names of service staff because we never got one. 25 minutes to wait for service just seemed to be unnecessary for the amount of people that were on duty compared to the amount of people in the dining area. Kudos to the general dining area, though! They were killing it with their tables!

Food came out fast and hot. Tasted great. Just got apps and drinks. Perfect for a mid afternoon snack! Waiter was friendly. Would definitely go back again.

Sitting at the bar. 37 deg outside and feels like the A/C is on. The restaurant is freezing and cold air coming out of the vents. 64 deg inside. Very uncomfortable even with my winter jacket on. Food was good, service was sub par. Impossible to enjoy my meal when it is so cold inside. Been coming here for years. Very disappointing. Won't be back.

I don’t write reviews, but holy heck has this place made me. The absolute SINGLE WORST dining experience in my entire life. Took them 7 minutes just to greet me at the door, food was alright but it’s Applebees we all know why we are here. If this places cares to survive in its location, needs a top to bottom staff overhaul every single last person inside here looks MISERABLE and it reflects onto the service you receive. AVOID!

Honestly the elderly gray/silver messy hair male bartender closes the bar at 12 on a Saturday night. Had the whole bar broken down. Said we could not sit at bar… then starred at the line of guests waiting to be sat. He is absolutely not a team player and extremely rude/pompous. We end up seating ourselves at a dirty table. We ordered two drinks and not even kidding from the time we ordered the drinks to the time they arrived at the table was

It was not the same without Lisa there at the bar! They seemed quite overwhelmed last night. The bar area was closed, and there was quite a wait to get a table. My food came out warm, not hot. Seemed like everyone was having to work extra hard to keep things going. But they were all friendly. The people at the table behind us ordered 4 frozen drinks, and the server suggested they get water as well, because the drinks were all different, and they only had one blender, so it was going to take a little while...

My husband and I often drive to the Applebee's in South Portland and Windham. The best part of this chain is that the food menu remains the same as does the quality of food. I hate going to a regular place and find my favorite item is not served. I always order the Oriental Salad and my husband gets the Chicken and Shrimp. Only once over the years has my husband been served a lukewarm meal. At that time the manager came over and offered him a new meal. We have found neither location dirty, but sometimes service is a little slow at South Portland. The reason is probably lack of staff, which is not their fault. We have one adult daughter who always orders their Mexican meal and another who loves their pasta meals. They have something for everyone. We all love their boneless ribs! Maybe we'll see you there.

My daughter and I waited over 30min at a table last night and both servers in our area avoided us. No one even took out drink orders. The tall male ignored me when I said excuse me twice and just walked away. Both servers in our area served every table around us and acted like we weren't there. I even pressed call server on the table tablet thing but no one ever came. I was tempted to place an online order and eat the takeout at our table because we were just so hungry at that point. Ended up just leaving though because why give these people my money at all. Tried waiting for the hostess before walking out but she disappeared by then. We sat at 8 and left at 8:38. No one noticed we walked out. Never felt so invisible at a business before.

The wrongdoer seat booths are freezing! We went on a cold day and we were cold the whole time. They were short staffed, so we didn't move. The bartender was soooo slow, he moved slow, while the servers were awesome! They need to update their decor.

We have salmon and quizdiea. They are good . Theie midnight appetizers are half price. Price are reasonable and food are excellent 👌

Very friendly staff! I wish I could remember the waitresses name, she was great! Definitely deserves a shout out, I feel bad.... the food was pretty good too. Me and my fiance ended up getting dishes that the other liked more. But it was good. And clean. And a nice time! I recommend 👌

I don't think I'd been to Applebee's in close to 6 years before today. I was pleasantly surprised by the service, quality of food, and overall value. I had the quesadilla burger and it was a very good and satisfying meal. I'd never had that item before and I'm glad I tried it the mozzarella sticks were a little bit underdone but that on no way affected our meal. Our server was very kind and attentive , and it experience was a positive one.

I went there two nights in a row at happy hour. The bartenders provide decent service, the drinks were good. I ordered the wanton chicken tacos which I did not like, they were greasy and sauce did not have a good smell. Most of my experience with food here has been great so will rate it 5 stars because they try their best and are open late night.

I have been visiting applebees in south portland on running hill road for many years and usually on a weekly basis. I realize that it is hard to get help this day in age. But, when I am denied an alcoholic beverage because my license is creased (company policy) I can assure you I won’t be back. Never have I ever dealt with such ridiculousness. I’ve gone to many bars and have never been denied entry because of a crease. 🙄

Have been coming here for years most of the staff is very pleasant Lisa at the bar, micheal as well at the bar are very helpful. Never had bad service here every one is pretty friendly, Food is decent price are fair. The young man who is a waiter, with what I’m guessing just had no tables at the time who is sleeping on the bench ( as I’m writing this as we speak) … definitely an eye sore, I must say though the other staff did speak to him as they agreed definitely not ok. if you’re that tired stay home! good staff is hard to come by now a days but that doesn’t mean you can just lounge and actually be sleeping around at your job thinking its ok . I only know he was asleep is cause I walked by and asked him if he was ok and … no reply , 🙄 Kinda bummed that the half price apps 2-5pm u can’t get if you do take out that kinda was lame if you ask me that’s just my opinion. Other than that all is good!

Stopped in after a long road trip wanted to grab a quick bite. Place was pretty empty and still had a 20-25 min wait and several people waiting before us. Tried to sit at the bar said the bar had at least a 15 min wait. After leaving and going to a different location was told that this location always has wait times and has delayed service.

I'm a regular so the service is always top notch. I had the Ceasar Salad with fries and a Bacon Whiskey Burger. It was great. Update, I'm not a regular as often but the food is still great. Got an 8oz steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli and it's just as good as always. Got the Donut Dipper for dessert...might be my new favorite thing! Warm Donut pieces covered in powdered sugar and dipped in carmel and hot fudge! There amazing!

Terrible service 😑took us 45 minutes to get seated, we were told it would be 15 minutes... Then another 40 minutes to get food after ordering. Definitely got the slowest most forgetful waitress in the restaurant. We watched as other guests were seated and received good fast service from the other waitstaff. So disappointing on our son's birthday. 😞 also I was served coleslaw that was beyond spoiled.

The waitress we had was incredibly slow, and was not very attentive in the slightest. We had been served cold food despite waiting an extended amount of time. We had been served the wrong food on multiple occasions. And had been charged the wrong amount on multiple occasions. On top of all that the waitress swiped my aunt's card for someone else's meal. It was an whole ordeal and overall very frustrating. If I could rate this any lower than no stars I would.

Maybe if you could get better server's. Not people who still act 12 years old . Nikki Butler thought it would be cute to tape our food boxes shut hundreds of times just because she was friends with my partner. You would have thought I paid $60 for the tape that's how much she used. Disrespectful. My partner did call and report it and we got a replacement. Thank you Applebees for that. I know we all are short staffed right now. But be mindful when hiring.

First time at this location. I will never go again ! The ribs I ordered looked like they were left out for quite some time, very dry and very tough to chew. A huge disappointment , I usually love their ribs. The bar tender was quite nice and funny though :)

Sara b was absolutely terrible. We waited 34 minutes just for a appetizer and not once were we talked too about the wait. 3 minutes after we had our food brought it. The pasta was completely dry with very little sauce, waffle fries were coated in ranch witch was never said in the menu or asked when ordered. We were there for a hour and half because Sara talked so much she couldn’t attend her customers on time to say the least can’t do her job. Never once did she apologize. Terrible experience. Extremely disappointed

If I could. I would give -1 stars! Server “Anne” the older lady, with grey hair. Who brought me my food to me. I saw they had my order wrong so I went to say something and she got flustered and threw the plate down and said “Mike will fix it when he comes out” very snotty and rude. My food was clearly sitting there for a while and I watched two people get seated AFTER I got here and they got there food before me. Noted. They are SLOW right now, I sat for over an hour for a kids chicken Alfredo and DIDNT get my side of fries. Thankfully. I am from the Freeport area and I WILL NEVER return here. She totally ruined my first experience here and after this incident I couldn’t even eat. I have never been treated that horribly. Also had to go find my server to get my tab so I could leave. This place was a joke…. So sad. No one came and checked on us once. Got my plate thrown down at me and then that was it.
