It’s nice to walk along the quay with cozy terraces, boats and markets.
Ribeira do Porto is one of the most charming and vibrant areas of the city, perfect for a leisurely stroll along the Douro River. The colorful buildings, lively atmosphere, and stunning river views make it a must-visit spot. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy local food and wine while taking in the scenery. It’s especially beautiful at sunset when the lights reflect on the water. A great place to soak in Porto’s culture and history!
It is the best neighbourhood in Porto. I spent most of my time there walking around old picturesque buildings. If you wanna walk by the river and enjoy the weather, it is one of the best places in Porto. But I recommend not to eat at the restaurants by the river, there as the prices are high .
One of the best places I've ever been to—filled with charming restaurants (plenty to choose from), street performers, and breathtaking views. Every moment was enjoyed with a glass of fruity sangria. Take a walk across the bridge, hop on a boat to see this beautiful spot from a different angle, or ride the cable car for stunning views from above—it’s your choice, and you won’t regret it. And don’t forget to wander through the tiny hidden streets behind the main buildings in the Ribeira. There, you’ll discover the most charming and colorful old houses, sure to inspire any photographer or artist. Enjoy!
Beautiful day or night, rain or no rain. There's a beautiful area which you can see from different angles. There are many shops and restaurants around. You can cross the bridge or take a little ferry, on the other side you find the port houses. This is the heart of the city.
We took a nice and relaxing walk around the area. The atmosphere was good, and we enjoyed beautiful views of the bridges and buildings on the other side of the river. We also had a good view of the buildings on this side from the bridge. There were some stalls along the river bank, perhaps due to it being Sunday. We picked up some souvenirs and noticed that they were cheaper than those in the shops.
Great place to walk, grab a drink and soak in the views across the river. It is an incredibly busy area though so be prepared for crowds as the day progresses.
I visited here several times during my trip and I find the sunset and night time is the best time for a visit. It’s so happening but still really romantic. You can just relax and enjoy the surroundings… support a small show from the local, listen to music from artists, enjoy seeing people living their lives, etc….
If you come to Porto, you should walk the bridge both upper and lower spans. The views are great, and the view from the Gaia side is fantastic for watching the sunset. There is typically some entertainment in the park on the Gia side (upper span).
The spot to visit is when you visit Porto. Great view, little shops to visit, a great variety of restaurants to choose. Or just a place to enjoy the sun, the historical buildings, or share with your loved ones.
Should book hotel by Rio Douro! We live in city center, uber daily maybe 4 euro to here to enjoy the views and activities: cruise, restaurant, hiking, cable car and music etc. you can take bus 500 at 2 euro. Views of sunset, Cruise and restaurant on Vila Nova de Gaia side is better. Course cost less with longer time over Gaia side too.
Very nice walk along the river! There are activities available (like going on the boat), drink and food options and live music. It can be a bit windy but it’s uncovered so the sun can be quite strong! Be ready for both types of weather. Food options along this street are a bit pricey compared to other locations but I guess you also pay for the view. I 100% recommend walking along the ribeira and enjoying the views of the bridges, the river and the buildings around!
What a fantastic view and place. Restaurants, cafes, port tasting, and of course the river.
Fabulous spot adjacent to the river with excellent views of the bridge. Great bars and restaurants to suit all. Lots of boat trips leave from here.
Ribeira is at the top of my must-visit list for Porto! With its colorful houses along the Cais da Ribeira, the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, and a bustling atmosphere, it looks incredible. I can't wait to wander the charming narrow streets, enjoy a glass of port wine by the Douro River, and experience the warmth of the Portuguese people.
The riverbank is a visual feast, with street vendors selling all sorts of cool stuff. There are plenty of tour booths offering boat rides too!
