If you are willing to be a bit out of the center, the place is beautiful, great pool and gym. The bar and service are great.

We had a great time at the hotel! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! We were given a room early in the morning right when we arrived. The room was spacious and very clean, with a wonderful view of the Douro River and the pool. The breakfast was plentiful, lots of cheese varieties, fruits, breads, smoked salmon. I only missed more vegetables (e.g., cucumbers, olives, etc.). I didn’t see any nondairy milk either (but I haven’t asked). The coffee served was very watery and tasteless, but you could ask for an espresso, cappuccino, etc. I would say the greatest disadvantage of the hotel is the location - it is not near the historic center. However, it’s a 10-15 min ride (we used Bolt every time, which was reliable, cheap, and convenient, about 6-7 Euro one way). The pool area was awesome, super clean, never crowded! It was a nice way to chill after a long day of sightseeing. Overall, a great experience and value for money!! Definitely recommending the hotel, and I would love to stay there again!! Although travelling with a young infant is quite difficult, the staff at Pestana Douro Riverside made our stay as pleasant as possible by always attending to our unique needs. The room was clean, spacious, and had a wonderful view of the pool and Douro River. We were part of a large group attending a wedding; we all took advantage of the wonderful pool and poolside bar service. The breakfast was exceptional with a wide variety of offerings. The other guests did mention that they used many of the other amenities such as the gym and shared positive thoughts. Overall a wonderful stay for my family and I. I'd like to highlight the efforts of David, Makarena, and Hugo who were particularly helpful in making our stay at Pestana Douro Riverside a memorably positive experience.

Great hotel. Food and wine were very good and I regret not staying longer to check out the entire menu. Room was very modern, good-looking, well equipped and with a great view. Gym and pools only add to overall excellent experience. Conference room we were in for meetings was also above average with a view on the bridge and Duoro river. Highly recommended.

We came for a spa and massage session. Honestly, we had the most relaxing massage experience ever. We will definitely come back again. Rita the masseuse was exceptional. At the end we had a nice cup of tea to finish the experience. It was a perfect way to enjoy a rainy day in Porto by the river Douro.

Five stars for a beautiful hotel that was well thought out with very friendly staff. Each floor is scented to a floral scent which was just lovely. It used to be a candle/perfume factory and it was nice seeing the history added into the stay. I’d like to point out Jorge, one of the front desk staff members, as being one of the most helpful employees. My sister and I got there and had no idea where to eat dinner that night. He asked our preferences and, just like that, we had a dinner reservation that was absolutely perfect. Lastly, this hotel was very clean and quiet. Loved it!!

Check in was late with 40 min. Breakfast was horrible and didn’t get replaced with new products after something was finished. The ventilation/air conditioner in the gym wasn’t on making in +40 degrees in there The hotel interior and design is nice.

Great hotel, service and Pedro Viveiros was super helpful and accommodating with our young child. The drink & cake for my birthday was a nice touch from the hotel too thank you!! 😊 we’ll be back.

Amazing hotel, location and staff. Hard to mention just a few people but Susan and Pedro deserve a mention from the restaurant along with all staff at the front desk.

My family and I have had the greatest time at this hotel and can’t recommend it enough. The rooms are lovely, the service is fantastic and the biggest hits have been the breakfast and the pool. The hotel itself is modern and clean, there’s a great view from the pool. There’s a big selection at breakfast too which is great! We haven’t yet tried the food in the restaurant. Really, really happy overall and will be staying here again for sure!

The restaurant is very average and the buffet is tasteless and unattractive to the eye, besides being very dirty and unkempt. The restaurant staff are very inattentive, except for one or the other who you can see that is trying hard to serve all the tables even though they are alone in the room. I would like to thank the hostess who after some time waiting for the service, was the only one who went to the table to take the order for the drinks and the dishes that accumulated on the table.

Restaurant service was awful. Only 3 tables being served yet the staff were not quick to attend to customers. Many many things from the menu not available but even the things the staff recommended as replacement. They forgot sauces as well. The lack of attention to detail in such restaurant was so disappointing. Never coming back.

The hotel is well mantained and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The staff is amazing and always helpful and with a smile. The breakfast buffet is great with great variety. We also had dinner here and although the menu is not huge but the quality and service was amazing. I can highly recommend this hôtel and restaurant. Will definitely return!

A lovely hotel. The staff are very helpful. The rooms are comfortable with large double. The fitness centre was useful and the river walk was easily accessible. The outdoor pool is fantastic with a great view. We didn’t miss being out of the centre because Uber was easily available and cheap to use. Access to the airport was approx 20 mins.

Fabulous week in Porto. Staff were fantastic, food amazing and very relaxing pool area. Short taxi ride into the historic centre. We loved it!

Absolutely incredible experience! I chose this hotel for my birthday celebration and were received in the best way possible. The staff is unbelievably kind, attentive and patient with children. Filipa at the reception, Susana, Teresa, Carol and David at the breakfast. Will come back for sure and recommend to everyone! Choose bedroom with river view!

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Douro Riverside. Rooms were stunning with great views of the river, very clean throughout, the food was 10/10 (I had dinner most nights in the hotel restaurant) and the service from the team was excellent including an upgrade to my room, late check-out and even helping me find the path to walk into the city centre (about 45 mins, or a short bus ride).

We stayed in this hotel for a week and everything was perfect. We especially would like to thank Arthur at the pool bar and Richi who waited on us with such kindness they made our stay even more delightful.

Perfect, well located upscale hotel. Staff is just amazing. So polite and courteous and helpful. Food was great. Bar service was great. The pool is so, so nice. It's clean, fun and was kept at perfect temperature. The vew or the Douro from the pool is gorgeous. I recommend you stay here when in Porto. Very easy to access city center from the hotel. Cheap taxi fare from there to the main locatoons in Porto.

We had a great stay. Hotel is clean, amazing pools. The food is great we loved the variety and freshness of the buffet breakfast. Staff is polite and friendly and even though the hotel is a bit further out of town, taxis to the centre are €3 or €4 each way. Brilliant!

Hotel is new and in good shape. Our room overlooked the River and has a nice balcony. Amenities for a 5 star hotel are lacking. There is no free bottled water. No hair conditioner. All movies are extra. Mini bar is simple and expensive. (Vat is added on - so it’s even more). Room service menu is very limited. Charcuterie plate was awful. Sirloin steak wasn’t bad though the “salad” and chips that accompanied it were very skimpy. I had brought in a bottle of port. Had to call down to get a corkscrew. We had just stayed in three other 5 star resorts in other areas of Portugal and the included amenities were much nicer. Won’t be back.

The food is some of the best I have ever tasted. The service is first class. The amenities (gym, pool table, heated outdoor pool and indoor pool) are amazing. There isn't much around the area and no shops but it's not far from town really and just a short car journey from the airport. I fully recommend this hotel.

We asked for a room with a bath and we’re given a free upgrade. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly, the restaurant was lovely, the services were amazing. The nicest staff you could hope for. Thank you so much. We will definitely stay again. 5🌟for everything.

Really great hotel. Service was exceptional. accommodation and food were of the best quality. The outdoor pool and bar area were a delight to use (apart from Christmas music in August :-) ) Spa area was very good as well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little extra to get the quality you deserve.
