Great Eastern Brighton

Bar Pub

👍👍 Top pub! Great (and reasonably priced!) drinks for any taste, a fantastic atmosphere and the staff are all wonderful. Leo in particular is always a pleasure to be served by, super friendly and a great laugh. The Great Eastern easily became one of my favourite pubs in Brighton and I couldn't recomme... Lovely pub & staff, cosy and friendly vibe. Good selection of beers and lots of whiskeys. Some outdoor tables at the front and small backyard.

Yet, again. A fantastic Pint of beer. ( do be Mindful, of asking for a Full pint. After all. It's what. You asked, For). Great pub. Great beers. Seriously good music.

Everyone who works here is lovely. Unfortunately this place has become more popular and so more dodgy types have been coming in, but everyone has made sure that every woman/non-binary person feels safe here! A truly lovely place to hang out just with friends and to make friends, and a whiskey bar so you know its good!

A very cosy little pub. Wide range of drink choices and you’re always greeted with a smile. Great music playing, too. Decently priced Tuaca. Pictured: me in Great Eastern on my 20th birthday 🎉

This is my favourite Brighton pub. Leo the bartender is an absolute babe and meets all of our needs on every single visit 😉 the selection of whisky and spirits is unrivalled in both price and quality. If you want a great night out in Brighton come to the Great Eastern. 🎇

Definitely if you have musical culture, and love a good pub atmosphere with lovely regular customers and good vibes, this is the right pub to visit. About the staff, it is great, especially GULNUR, such a lovely girl always with a smile attentive to everything which is needed. AAA+++++

I've been coming to this pub for years and I'm very fond of it. Never had a bad experience here, always a great atmosphere, the staff are friendly and it always attracts interesting people. Very good DJs are on regularly as well. Great little pub.

One of my favourite pubs in Brighton. Small, packed and full of great quirky people. There is no facade here, if you want a good old fashioned pub then this is the place to be. Although it's almost always crowded inside they manage to serve you super fast. Great ambiance and a real warmth about this place.

Stars are for the atmosphere - it has a great vibe in this pub. However it seems more suited for locals. There were no obvious drinks menus, so we looked on their website, and the recommended app to choose our drinks (no problem, benefit of mobile phones), but our visit was cut short when we attempted to order cocktails as per the menu, but were told they don't offer them. Please please update your website and your app to be true to what you serve! We were really disappointed that even the staff recommended we go elsewhere, rather than telling us what was on offer.

Just the best atmosphere, music and personable bar staff make it a real fun experience you want from a pub. D.J's are brilliant too. Feel like it's the ultimate front room vibe. Love the place and feel better for it👆

Lovely cosy pub, friend accidentally left their laptop and bag there one evening. It was safe & sound and looked after by the staff. Live Vinyl DJ was great for a Saturday night atmosphere. Would definitely go again!

Really nice pub in Brightons infamous lanes. Sort of hidden but I suppose that makes it a gem of a place. Wasn’t very busy but had some really good music that the customers seemed to enjoy. Bar staff were very lovely and seemed to have a good rapport with the regulars. I was served by Dexter who offered me tasters and advised me on what’s popular and what’s not. Overall I definitely recommend the pub, definitely my cup of tea! (or ale so-to-speak)

Lovely little boozer. It was quiet when we went in at 2pm, but had a nice couple of pints.

Enjoyed this pub - didn't eat. Has turntables supplying the music which as a record collector was nice to see. Good pints keenly priced for Brighton. Very clean facilities and very friendly and attentive staff. Top atmosphere and the locals were gave a warm welcome.

Very good pub about 5 minutes walk from Brighton Station. Five cask beers on handpump when I visited including an old ale. Plenty of outdoor seating some of it covered.

One of Brighton's best pubs, no question! A cozy dark little boozer with dimmed lights for maximum satisfaction. Pleasantly divers crowd with young and old. Always busy. Great music, DJs with eclectic selection of music. Never the same, always great!

One of Brighton's best kept well known secrets... It never fails to remain under the radar and yet somehow totally packed! Like a well loved corner cabinet of curiosities this pub houses delicious whiskies amongst your standard booze and the kind of locals who know their music, film and all sorts of other useless cultural knowledge pots!

We had a great afternoon at The Great Eastern last Tuesday and were pleased to enjoy a variety of real ales - which there seems to be a lack of elsewhere in Brighton! Glad to find a proper pub with proper beer to enjoy in the sun :) and lovely staff to discuss it with as well!

A real gem of a pub serving a great selection of beers and spirits at a fair price. Friendly atmosphere and bar staff. A really varied mix of music and events makes it a fun place to drink and chat.

Increasingly on my too in frequent trips to this great city for pubs I come here. Beer choice getting better and better with good vegan choice inc ales and always prompt friendly service. Love how dark it is in the evenings too - great atmosphere

Fantastic hidden gem centrally located, serving a great range of beers and bourbons. Dark and cosy and the most inviting aroma of baked goods when you enter! Friendly service and staff and the music choice never offends!

Love this pub, come here each winter as a local. Warm and cosy, great staff and beer is always on point. Do a real nice mulled wine too. Great location for lanes.

Absolutely amazing pub! We first wandered into the pub not particularly realising it existed and I’m so glad we did. We were greeted by Leah and Adam who was very lovely and offered us ample assistance in the vast variety of drinks they had to offer. She allowed us to sample a variety of ales until we found the one, and what a good pint it was! Quality service, music and choice of beverages (and crisps too)!

Lovely cozy pub with a great selection of ales! Very dog friendly, me and my wife and pup felt very welcomed by the lovely man behind the bar called Leo! Would highly recommend!

One of my favourite pubs in Brighton. Last night sat at the bar and was served by Oli, Luke and Mark who were just delightful. Gave really good suggestions for drinks when I wasn't sure what I fancied. Great music on too!

Great pub, great staff, good music, a really eclectic mix of people, lovely vibe. Some nice tequilas behind the bar too. having worked in hospitality myself, I was very impressed by the service, the pub was very busy but at no point did anyone have to wait a long time to be served. Friendly personable staff were the icing on the cake. It's taken me 10 years of living in Brighton to visit this gem, but I will definitely be back soon

Great pub, amazing atmosphere and lovely staff! Highly recommend whether it’s to start, finish or spend the night drinking! Great selection of ales and whiskeys for everyone, great DJs on the weekends but the music is always great - Full of lots of friendly faces and just all round good vibes!😊

The experience at great eastern was none like any other in Brighton. The atmosphere was lovely with vinyl records playing the whole night. There is a wonderfully large selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Leo, in particular, was crucial to our positive experience. He is truly a phenomenal barman. He was attentive, friendly and chatty with us throughout our stay, offering different beverages through asking what we were feeling like. Truly a lovely affordable pub unlike any other with genuine staff tucked away in Brighton.

Best pub in Brighton what more can I say! Every aspect is exactly what you'd want from a Brighton pub, great music all week long, especially at weekends when they have vinyl DJ's. Great staff, they are all out of this world, great selection of Whiskey's from around the world and local ales! Once you go you'll never want to leave!

I get it mixed up with another pub all the time so such a nice surprise to find you're there. Gluten free beer vegan beer on draft often. I had a meeting there once. The rain was coming down outside but it was very dry and nice inside. A nice place to break up with someone or play a game of gin rummy. You can order take away to the place which is handy. Erick was very well dressed.

I've been visiting the Great Eastern for a short while now, and it's the loveliest boozer I know. The staff are all the most welcoming people, the music is always fantastic, as well as a great variety of tunes, and the atmosphere is consistently a great vibe. Always my favourite place for a great time, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Absolutely love this pub, it's one of my favorites, the music is always amazing and the drinks a serves so fast even on busy nights. The staff are amazing and so friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great night out 🤗🤗

Frankly, Brighton would not be nearly as much fun without this wonderful boozer. This really is a fantastic pub, a real Brighton institution, a pub like no other. Great staff, wonderful cask ale, very reasonably priced craft beer and spirits, and a music policy that is second to none. This is more than a recommendation, this is a declaration of love.

Great pub but I met a girl there for the weirdest date ever. She was too nervous to answer questions so I talked for nearly two hours. She was also a massive catfish, way older than her pics and said she was 5'4 but was actually as tall as me. Who the f!ck does that?

  • 5/5 David S. 2 years ago on Google
Just popped in on the spur of the moment and found a great DJ playing the most amazing music on vinyl. Just to hear the music I only usually hear at home was a dream. Such a great atmosphere. I’ll return and also look out for future music events. Just get rid of the blokes hogging the bar space please?😉
