What an extraordinary and wonderful adventure we had today with Luis! We joined a lovely group that included a couple traveling with their young adult daughters, and another from France, and it was really fun to experience this tour with them as we visited a small but exquisite family-run winery hosted by the owner, Elisabeth. After the brief but fascinating tour which showed us both where and how they processed the harvested grapes from their fields-which looked like a living landscape painting) we were treated to a beautiful spread of cheeses, olives, bread, house-made jams, and local ham as well as three of their house wines including a tawny port and a Riserva red wine which we happily were able to purchase. It was evident that Luis was a friend to Elisabeth, and it was a very special and intimate visit. That part of the trip alone was worth the adventure of driving in the van for an hour on very windy but scenic roads on a very hot day! But that was only the beginning as we continued on to a larger commercial winery after stopping in the town of Pinhao for a fantastic lunch -and more wine! The larger tour was part of a larger group and not as personal, but interesting to contrast it to the smaller winery. Then we were brought inside for MORE wine tasting-I think the heat and the driving as well as all the earlier food and wine really put us over the top and we all were thinking wistfully of the beautiful hammock hanging in the archway of the first winery! But wait, there’s more! Off we went to board a small riverboat for an excursion on the Douro river, so we could look back up at the gorgeous terraced hills that sloped up from the river. It was fascinating to hear that it was the oldest wine-producing region in the world(I think!) and much was preserved as a UNESCO site. Throughout the day, Luis kept us entertained with his humor and knowledge, making us each feel specially cared for and very lucky to be part of this group on this wonderful day.

We had the best day exploring the Douro Valley! From the port tour, the tastings, the lunch spot, the boat ride and the winery, everything was a delightful, fun, relaxed and educational experience. We especially loved the final stop at the winery were we paired delicious couvert with wine in a beautiful setting and were happy to be able to buy some extra bottles to last us the rest of our trip. Our guide Andre was fantastic, so knowledgeable and he humoured us with our many many questions about wine, the Douro region, and about life in Portugal in general. He really made the day what it was! Everything was well thought of with a café stop, toilet stop and a scenic stop with photo opportunities. Our pescatarian/vegetarian/nut allergy needs were also taken care of. Would reccomend 100% 🙂

Great walking tour through the historic center of Porto. Inez was a fantastic guide. Provided lots of info with a good natured presentation. The 3 hours really flew by. Make sure you are up for the walk; lots of up and down especially in the remaining medieval quarter. Highly recommend

***FANTASTIC DAY***. If I could give this trip 6 stars I would. We were a group of 7 and had a really enjoyable, fun and informative day with lots of wine tasting and a very good lunch. Homecooked and tasty. A good boat trip & stunning scenery. Both Wineries we're excellent choices. Personally I preferred the smaller one in the afternoon; our guide played guitar for us whilst we sampled jams, olive oil and wines. A wonderful memorable day. Book today, you won't regret it.

This Douro Valley tour was amazing! Our guide, Jaoa, was very friendly & informative! The valley was stunning. We went to a larger port producer and leaned a lot about the process of growing grapes and developing port wine. We had lunch in the sweetest family restaurant where the food was plentiful and fresh!! (I’m vegan and my preferences were handled with ease!) The second winery was very small and we had a private tasting including their honey products and chocolate. Really great! We did not add on the boat tour but saw the area where the boat is—lovely if you want to add it! Again what made this day great was the guide, the ease of meeting up, the relaxed feeling, the wine of course and the beautiful landscape!

Wow! Portolocals small-group trip to the Douro Valley exceeded our expectations on many levels. Authentic, informative, attention to detail, quality, fun, intimate: this tour hits the real heart and soul of the Douro off the beaten tourist track. Our guide João scores 11 out of 10.

We had an amazing one day trip to Duoro Valley, where we didn’t only taste amazing wine & olive oils, but also had a traditional Portugese lunch and a sunny boat trip. Jose was a wonderful host and taught us about winemaking in a fun way, so at the end of the day, we also learnt a lot

The trip was very fun and worth its price. Our guide Gustav was very friendly and funny, he took care of everything and talked a lot about region and wine production. The group was small (6 people) which was an additional plus. All in all great experience, it was our first time booking trip via Getyourguide, and it didnt dissapoint us.

Our trip to the Douro Valley was the highlight of our Portugal vacation! It was a pleasure to have Tito as our guide/driver. Tito made sure we were all comfortable and shared interesting information about the region along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2 wineries we visited. It was nice to experience one very small winery and one larger one and hear their different stories as well as taste their wines. Lunch was delicious and plentiful and the boat ride was relaxing. There were only 8 in our group and that kept the experience personal and even more enjoyable. Tito provided us restaurant recommendations upon our return which was very helpful. Don’t miss this experience when visiting Porto!

I highly recommend this tour! It was an exceptional value for a very a nice experience with a small group. The views of the Douro Valley are breathtaking, the food for lunch was awesome and our tour guide, Tito, was very kind. This is a great way to start your trip!!

We had such a great experience on this tour! Our guide did such a great job showing us around and also giving us recommendations for Porto as it was our first day here. He kept us moving smoothly with still letting us enjoy each location. We loved talking with him and learning more about the history of Douro valley and Porto! The best part of this tour is that they only go to local small wineries, and also getting to talk to the owners personally. I highly recommend this tour, we booked it the day before and it was amazing. We had lots of wine, snacks, and a whole lunch included. The value of this tour was amazing, 10/10 recommend any day!

Our trip to Douro valley was a blast! Our guide/driver Joao did an amazing job at helping us break the ice and learn more about each other. He told great stories and curiosities, took great pictures of us and kept the mood high. The wineries we visited were full of care and love - you could easily feel that their owners cared much about what they do. Elizabeth - one of the owners - is a true star! She told a lot about the wine making, shared her tomato sauce recipe and showed us around her cozy house. The car we travelled with had AC, the road didn’t take long. All in all, it was a perfect day. Thank you!!

Pedro was an amazing tour guide! So knowledgeable about the area, wine making, and the history of the industry in Portugal. We really enjoyed this trip to the Douro again and would definitely go again in a heartbeat!

This was an excellent private tour very complete. It included 2 vineyards, lunch a ride on the Rabelo boat it was amazing and the overall experience with Andres was incredibly great. He spoke English and Spanish which for us was perfect because we don’t speak Portuguese only English and Spanish. I will definitely recommend this tour to all my friends and family and Andres as well. Jacqueline

If you’re deciding between tours…CHOOSE THIS ONE!!!! We tried our best to research the itineraries and read the reviews of dozens of tours before booking, hoping to avoid a large, impersonal group experience and hours staring at the back of a bus headrest. Our tour with Porto Locals was everything we were hoping for and more! Our intimate group of eight had the pleasure of being led by our incredible guide Tito, who shared with us really interesting facts about the region as we drove through it. An expert driver on the winding roads, he tipped us off on can’t-miss sights along our journey, and stopped for us to take photos at a spectacular view point. His humour and taste in music were second to none, and this made the drive to and from the Duoro a highlight of the trip. The two wineries we visited were gorgeous, family-owned vineyards, again complementing the intimate setting of the tour. We had a fabulous tasting with delicious accompaniments. Due to the small size of our group, we also had the opportunity to stomp grapes, which was such a fun and unique experience. Lunch was a delicious traditional family style meal, and the table wine was flowing. The river cruise was stunning (and was my initial reason to book a tour), but in the end, the entire day was so spectacular, it wasn’t necessarily a highlight, only because the rest of the day exceeded all expectations. Thank you Porto Locals, especially Tito, for giving us an unforgettable day in the Duoro Valley!

This was the best wine tour I’ve been on and the Douro valley is gorgeous. The meeting point was very easy to get to / identify and from the start all the guides and hosts were very personable. Francisco was a caring and fun guide, sharing his own stories about the Douro valley, teaching us about the harvest season and enabling karaoke on our car ride home. The lunch spot was INCREDIBLE. I’m vegetarian and absolutely loved the food. We met lovely people on our tour! I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting porto!

Unforgettable day. Nice drive to the Douro Valley. An interesting tour around a vinheria with a most passionate wine maker. Good local wine and olive oil tasting. Then a great lunch with no wishes left unfulfilled in a small town with a nice boat ride thereafter. Finally the second winery with a lovely most hospitable couple providing even more wine. We had a great time.

João was a fantastic tour guide and the whole day was just a blast. We visited two small-scale wineries and had a delicious lunch. There was a lot of good wine-tasting and everyone was really friendly and hospitable. Can recommend this to anyone visiting Porto and interested in getting to know the wine region of Douro!

We did the full day Douro & winery tour and it was spectacular. Our guide Gousto was fantastic, and made sure we were well taken care of from start to finish. It was a brilliant day with a great group of people, and such a unique experience. If you're thinking about booking: do it - you won't regret it.

This was an amazing and super fun excursion. This was my second time to Douro Valley, it was great and stress free to have a host to drive the smaller roads and give us an insider's view of the smaller vineyards and wine producers. Our guide José is terrific, super friendly and engaging and so excited to talk about everything along the way. This trip is well designed, with plenty to eat, see, do and drink along the way. I'm not typically much of a tour person, but this one was entirely worth it. Very highly recommend!

Excellent tour! Miguel was out guide and we were in good hands. We enjoyed visiting the smaller/family owned vineyards, learning about and tasting the delicious wines and olive oils. The lunch was fantastic. I also appreciate that the cruise portion of the trip was not drawn out, perfect amount of time. The Douro Valley is beautifuI and I would highly recommend taking this tour.

We had a great day exploring the valley. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and fun, he took us to a couple of wonderful wineries for both a local and more commercial experience. Overall, great food, great wines and beautiful scenery. The small group experience is definitely worth it!

The best tour! Our guide was incredibly sociable and knowledgeable about the area, local products, and of course wine. We had a wonderful time visiting small, craftsman wineries that are like something out of a story book. The entire experience was magical and I would 100% recommend a tour (especially with Andres) to anyone visiting the Porto area.

Great 3-hour walking tour with Gregorio -- highly recommended to do it on Day 1 / first thing after arrival at Porto, as it gives you a good overview and orientation around the city. The tour has just the right mix of history, information and fun tidbits that keep it both interesting and highly informative, which helped us develop more appreciation about how Porto came to where it is today. Greg is engaging and friendly, and also gave very candid insights of the do's and not-so-recommended things, which are helpful for us to plan / adjust our plans for the rest of our stay in Porto.

During my visit to Porto decided to do this wine tour around the valley. Unfortunately the weather didn't seem great this day. However the views were amazing. Stopped by a small local Winery and did some wine tasting. This was really special and unique and catered to a small group. Than over go a larger winery and again what an experience with some beautiful views. I would recommend this tour. My visit to Portugal would not of been the same without this. Despite the weather. I had the best day. 👌.

What a WONDERFUL trip this was with Tito as the perfect guide! My husband and I went with a group of 6 other people we didn’t know and immediately felt comfortable with the group thanks to Tito. We had a rainy day, but it was still an amazing trip (stopped raining at almost each stop). We made a quick stop at a beautiful view point on our way. We started out at Croft Vineyards for a lesson on making port and finished with a port tasting of three port wines. The winery was beautiful inside and out. The next stop was Pinhão for an amazing typical Portuguese meal (complete with a few different wines). We all left extremely satisfied (as well as those who had a vegetarian meal-one said it was her best in Portugal). We then went on our boat trip of the river. Tito made it so much fun and we all felt like we’d been a group for a long time. We finished the journey by visiting a small winery, Quinta do Roncao, which was a charming place with a beautiful couple hosting us. (And yes, they will ship wine to the states as many of us did!). We had an education on their process. During the tour, we looked up, and Tito was in the vat with the grapes, waiting for us to join in stomping. Many joined in and had the best time. We finished the day with a drive home, continuing our chatting and learning from Tito and we’re dropped off at our door back in Porto. I highly recommend this trip! (And as you can tell, we think Tito made this trip even more amazing)

Amazing and magical experience! During the bus ride, José told a lot of great stories, and the 2 vineyards were so pretty. The wines and the food was the best. Also the boat trip on the Douro river was really cool! All the people we met were just so lovely. We definitely recommend!

This was an amazing tour of the history and scenery of the Douro Valley wineries. The meal that was provided was just wonderful. It is a must do and Jose’s tour & team are the best. It’s a must do & you will not regret it, When we go back to Portugal, we will definitely do a repeat with them. ❤️

The whole thing was spectacular! Honestly an experience like no other. I didn’t have any expectations going into this. But by the end, I was kinda sad it was ending. Jaio (I think is how you spell his name) was very friendly. Had a lot of great conversations through the rides to and from Porto and he was also very knowledgeable as a tour guide. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that’s looking for a good time in Porto and are really trying to meet some real people. Dora was honestly the highlight of the trip. Just knowing how much work goes into making wine and knowing that it’s pretty much a one woman job is impressive. And her winery has some spectacular views you won’t want to miss

Fantastic trip! Tito was a great guide, kind and friendly. He was very knowledgeable about everything! Even recommended good restaurants for the evening after the tour. It was a cold rainy day when we visited, but we still had a great time. Basically we visited two wineries and tasted various ports and wines, had lunch at a restaurant and did a quick boat tour allowing us to take pictures of the Douro valley. An absolutely fabulous day.

We had a fantastic time on this tour! It was easy and fun with a relaxed host. We had two wineries all to ourselves. The wines and olive oils were fabulous. The Douro Valley is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. The boat ride is a must. Thank you for the experience.
