This was my favorite place to stay during our tour of Portugal! Absolutely beautiful, comfortable! The owners father and son were so kind and accompanying and hospitable! A hidden treasure!

Hidden gem! We stayed here on our way to the Douro valley. This Quinta is a converted farmhouse that has been open for about a year. Modern yet with a lot of old-world charm. Beautiful pool, very peaceful location, and close to the amenities of Guarda. The owner is so kind and welcoming and happy to chat. Breakfast was also wonderful. Would highly recommend

An absolute gem! After 21 years I returned to Guarda to visit and I was overwhelmed by how much it had changed visually with better roads, upgraded housing and more trendy looking shops. However what shocked me the most was the warmth of the people that had remained stuck in the past. The Canotilho family showed me that warmth in their cosy little hotel farmhouse. Beautiful inside and out, quiet, relaxing and energising. By far the best farmhouse hotel I’ve stayed at, the overall experience is excellent and would highly recommend to anyone who is passing through or visiting guarda to stay here for the night. Lastly the breakfast is 10/10, everything was fresh and of great quality. Don’t expect a thousand options like one of those buffet breakfasts you get sometimes, expect reasonable portions of really good food.

The peace and quiet, the beautiful farmhouse so tastefully decorated. It's close enough to a city that if you need anything or want a nice dinner out you can have it in 5 minutes. The beds are amazingly comfortable and bed sheets are very good. The decoration of the rooms and the farmhouse make it almost impossible not to want to buy a farmhouse and have it looking like this. One of the most pleasant stays I've had in years. The family are delightful people a f you will feel personally cared for. You are received with a treat and from that moment the stay only gets better. If ever in Guarda, this is the only place I'm staying. ❤️

You must stay here if you are visiting Guarda! We cannot recommend our stay at this beautiful, family-run converted farmhouse enough. My partner and I had originally planned to stay for one night to break up the drive between Santander and Lisbon. Joaquim was so helpful as soon as we arrived and could not have done more to make us feel comfortable and relaxed. The room we stayed in was very cosy with lovely decor and we slept incredibly well. In the morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast by Joaquim who made sure we had everything we wanted to eat and drink. After breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and set off on the road, unfortunately we encountered car troubles and had to be towed to a nearby garage. We rang the hotel to explain the situation and they offered to pick us up in their car, help us gather our belongings from our car into theirs and drive us back to the hotel. They arranged taxi and dinner plans for us that evening and let us stay another night, even ringing car mechanics to see if they could help find a solution to the problem. This was a very stressful situation to find ourselves in at the beginning of our two month holiday in Portugal, but the kindness and generosity we were shown by the family here was something we will never forget and will be forever grateful for. We will definitely be returning!

We had a fantastic experience (3 nights) at Quinta do Rio Noémi: a warm welcome, beautiful interior design, tasteful breakfast and Joaquim and his staff as very forthcoming hosts. Felt like a family visit, and hope to return soon.
