We chose this hotel from others for the gym, come to find out you need to pay 9€ every day to use it. You also need to pay for pool towels, the safes keys in the room and there are barely any shampoos/soap for the customers in the room (2 of each for 3 people for 4nights). The staff is not necessarily nice, the pool is nice but way too small for the hotel size, there is never place on the pool side due to this, people reserve their seats the night before with towels on the chairs. We had a bedroom across the reception, for 2 of the 4 nights there was music until 12:30am. This is not a resort, it’s a hotel, €215 for just a bed and a pool is overpriced, a resort means you get amenities included in the price. False advertising and disappointing. Good location though.

It was our first time in the area. The location was great as it was walking distance to two beaches 15-20 minutes and also close to lighthouse and the caves. We were able to access the trails at the back of the property via a key access gate and the views were great. There was no shortage of restaurants with the cafe and a restaurant on-site. The restaurant was good. The pool bar (snack version of the restaurant) was also good and perfect for poolside drinks. The resort itself had everything you needed including a grocery store which we found to be decently priced for the convenience. They had a large assortment of products - baked goods, drinks, wines. The produce was slim but for a resort grocery store, it makes sense. There was a main pool and 2 smaller pools. We used the ones farther away from reception as it was much quieter. The staff were pleasant enough. Eugenia at reception assisted us with getting checked in as soon as we were able to get our room as we arrived quite early. It was fairly busy given the time of year but the grounds were spacious and it wasn't noisy. I would probably try visiting in June or September next time. Our apartment was fully equipped and perfect for our 5 night stay. We had a nice balcony where we sat to watch sunset and also our breakfast. We had a washing machine in the kitchen and a clothes line outside. Housekeeping was every other day which was perfect. We had no issues with our apartment. We lost power twice but it was restored within 30 minutes, I suspect it was resort wide but we weren't bothered. They have a kids club with lots of activities for the little ones, Monday through Friday. It closes for lunch at 1-2 and closes at 6pm. We only used it once as we were mostly exploring off the resort but the kids enjoyed the face painting. The only downside was having to use cash for the resort to arrange an airport transfer, arranging for a cave tour, for mini golf rentals and all their other rides and tours they arrange. Just make sure you bring a good amount of cash to have on hand. Overall, I very much enjoyed our stay there and would return.

We enjoy the attractive, well maintained gardens and pool areas. We like the quiet, relaxed atmosphere of the village resort. All the properties are privately owned, so whilst there is a minimum standard you can expect, exactly what you get will vary from apartment to apartment. We felt (no evidence) our apartment was probably an investment property, rather than occupied by owner occupiers for much of the year, as it was simply furnished etc. Still perfectly acceptable, although the bathroom was in need of upgrading. Rocha Brava room servicing is very good and the location and facilities are very good. Overall, we plan to return yet again. Giving four stars because it is simple and relaxed rather than luxurious, which suits us.

Staff ok, but too expensive for what you get. This has nothing to do with a 4 star hotel. You have to pay extra for everything (even for a pool towel and for the gym). We had a bedroom near the reception and it was noisy. All equipments are very old and low quality. The flat was very smelly. There were ants everywhere in the flat. The mattress was not confortable. Could feel the springs. Pillows were good though. There was a dishwasher and a washing machine but no tablets provided to use it. Nice to have a swimming pool, small supermarket, parking just around the corner. Will not go back.

Excellent holiday village, absolutely spotless, some of the rooms are in need of updating but are very clean, room 276 is excellent. Pools are lovely, lots of sunbeds. Downside is shop which is a rip off. Lovely restaurants in the holiday village bit expensive but very good. Can walk to carveiro 30 to 40 minutes on road or 1 hour on coastal path which is a bit steep and rocky in places.

Lovely, safe place to stay. Staff are really nice and very helpful. Apartment was basic but clean and tidy. The only minor points against would be that the towels are thin and way too small. The pillows are extremely lumpy and if you use a hairdryer, take your own with you. The one that is supplied is absolutely rubbish. It barely blows out and the flex is so short it is very difficult to use. But those points aside, there is outside space with chairs and loungers, we also had a barbecue area. There is a cafe serving decent food like burgers, toasties etc, the staff are lovely and friendly, a very nice restaurant at the centre of the complex and four or five more within walking distance. Rocha Brava is very close to Carvoeiro Town and runs a free shuttle 3 times a day. All in all, a nice place to stay and we would definitely recommend it.

A mostly tranquil resort with lovely gardens that break up the rows of villas. Several swimming pools to choose from and easy bus access to beaches along the coast. Lovely walks along the cliffs also.

Our second time to stay in the Rocha Brava resort. This place is fabulous. If u want a chill and relaxed holiday for you and your family this is the place to go. If u want pints and clubbing go to elsewhere. The resort itself is spotless and the gardens are immaculate. We will definitely be repeat customers.

Absolute quality resort. This resort literally has everything you need within the complex, plus within walking distance of wherever you'd need to go for your holiday. I would recommend to anyone, especially families.

Fantastic place to stay. Everywhere clean and tidy. Rooms were lovely. Pool area kept clean, gardens all well looked after. Easy to get into town from location.

Lovely resort. We stayed in a 2 bedroom garden villa. Lost one star as the rooms were very musty and there was fungus growing in one of them due to the lack of airing. Otherwise lovely place, nice location and lovely coffee shop on site as well.

Lovely accommodation and facilities. A little way out of the main town but there is a curtesy bus 3 times a day both there and back. Taxi one way around 6 Euro's

The villa was well stocked and furnished with lots of storage and space! We did not realise that the villas were owned by private people and that the resort just managed them for the owners. This meant there was a lot of things in the appartment for the owners when they visited. The resort itself is a little dated. The restaurants food was nice but the menu was catering for the english tourists too much and there was no real local feel to the food. We choose to have breakfast included. The breakfast was ok, not much choice and the fruit was not consistently fresh every day. The reception staff were not very enthusiatic and did not appear particularily helpful. The fact that we had to pay for a pretty lousy minigolf was disappointing. Also that there was a room with table football and pool which we were not allowed to use. The swimming pool got busy in the early evening with many people throwing balls which mean that swimming was impossible. There was rarely any staff checking the pool. That said the resort was peaceful. Location wise, we didnt get a hire car due to the very high prices this year, but it would have been better to have one as the resort is far from many other places that you may want to visit. We took uber taxis everywhere which worked well but costs added up. The accomodation is probably rather inconssitent if all the villas a owned by individuals, we were lucky and had a lovely one.

It was an amazing stay! Clean and warm, so many activity that you can take. Even though the two outdoor pools were cold, but you can still take the indoor warm pool. Trekking and hiking in nearby resort

Beautiful place. Quiet neibourhood in close proximity to most beautiful beaches in Portugal. Nearby town within walking distance.

Beautiful resort, although was particularly quiet with it being emd of season. I would recommend, uber taxis very cheap and great to use to travel about. Lost a star due to the only bar on resort that was open closed at different times, and sometimes was quite early.

Booked a week away at the last-minute, an amazing resort we'll maintain and spotless .. I was put in room 230. It was avery large two bed spacious apartment , it has an out door bbq , a love fire place . Washing machine was an added bonus. The shop on site did basic stuff if not s little price but the staff all very pleasant, I did eat at the cafe coffee shop a few times but not at the restaurant so j can comment ... the cafe does various dishes... all very nice. My only gripe was building upgrades in a couple of apartments, so some building noise but not enough to upset anyone ... I had booked a trip to Loule for the Saturday Market, it was to be leaving at 8.40 but it left early at 8.20 not the reception fault but thought they would of sent a text message ... over all a great holiday Obrigado

Timeshare development from early 80s. Have stayed twice in last 18 months in 2 different apts. Rooms showing age (Doors catching on floors, kitchens clearly in need of renewal, broken tiles on access stairs, mixer tap at bath clearly original and worn/stained) however rooms clean and reasonably maintained on a day to day basis. Mature gardens also well maintained. Major issue is lack of amenities in the area, and the need to travel to Carveiro for a wider range of shops and bars etc. OK if you have transport i.e. car, scooter or bike. There is one bus route to Portimao through Carveiro with 3 or 4 each buses each way except Sundays. The handful of shops and restaurants in the area of resort all charge premium prices. Be aware the small shop, cafe, pool bar and restaurant are not so far as I am aware operated by the resort, cannot recommend their use, see my reviews on the overcharging at cafe and pool bar under their google map pins. Did not use restaurant however the pool bar review is under its heading. Pros - There is a free mini bus operated by the resort to Carveiro 3 times a day. It is a quiet place so suits if you want to relax and enjoy the weather. Washing machine in apartment. Reasonably well equipped kitchens. Several pools and tennis on site. Cons - Overcharging at cafe and pool bar. Premium prices charged by nearly all local bars and shops in area, avoid site shop. Expensive for safe hire in room. Overall we had a nice stay on both visits which is why we have been twice, however the premium prices and lack of choice locally means we will not return. Try Alvor further along coast, thats our next holiday.

We stayed at 2 bedroom apartment, we had 1 yr old with us and there was no diswasher in the apartment. We had half board and there wasn't much choice for either breakfast nor dinner (we had to choose between 2-3 dishes for every course during the dinner).

Richard Brava Village Resort was a great option to stay around the seven valleys trail. It is a bit far from the comercial centre if you're more focused on it, but if your focus is explore the nature around, is a great option. They have also many pools, including a heated one, tennis courts and so on.. the villa itself was really large, I guess it can fit a big family.. not sure if there will have difference between apartments, so check it out if its your case.

We were here with the HPB and loved it. We could walk to four beaches. The Carvalho beach was a highlight as on an old smugglers beach accessed through a tunnel through the rocks. The local restaurants were excellent and we also loved the O stop on the nearest beach. The complex has several pools, bar, restaurant, coffee shop and small supermarket. We will be going back.

Rooms kept clean by friendly staff. Complex well maintained too with 3 outdoor pools. Mini golf is €5 plus a deposit €10 for the club, so overly expensive for the tiny course. Watch out for being overcharged & short changed at the supermarket. Items are not always priced & can be very expensive- €9 for 3 chicken thighs!! Take a taxi to Aldi & do a full shop - you will save a fortune.

We've been coming to RB for over 20 years and I have gradually become increasingly unhappy with the standard of accommodation. This time we booked through Expedia and emailed the office to ask if we could be stay in a specific apartment which we were in last year. Unfortunately this wasn't available and we were offered a choice of two apartments - one very close to reception and the bar/restaurant with all the associated noise levels, and one at the further end of the complex. It's possibly the worst flat we've ever stayed in on RB. No dishwasher, four sad white mugs, a small sofa and one sort of armchair, etc etc - all for a four person apartment. Luckily there are only two of us. If one of us were to open the bathroom door when the other was sitting on the loo (sorry) there would be broken kneecaps as it's so badly designed. The bath towels are thin and small. The balcony is too small for a sun bed. I could go on. The welcome at reception, considering we've been coming here for years, is non-existent, unlike in other places we have eaten in or stayed at. The grounds are beautiful, it's incredibly peaceful and we feel great loyalty to RB but I think we may be moving on.

Lovely resort, self catering, good size apartment, separate kitchen, living room, bedroom, nice size balcony, pools are great, about a 3 mile walk to nearest town but nice if you're in no rush! Clean & friendly all round. Resort seems naturally quiet but plenty of people about, just not noisy people! Would highly recommend it to anyone. Maybe need a car to get about if you're not fit or able bodied if you're not one of those people who stays at the resort for the whole holiday! ( not my idea of a holiday either)

First time staying at Rocha Brava and cannot fault at all for a four night break mid October, the apartment we were allocated had all amenities needed with a huge balcony with loungers over looking 1 of the 3 pools which we were extremely happy with, and was close to a few local bars about 5 minute walk from reception and local to the beach/town. Apartment was very spacious and clean fitted with air-con, the reception staff lack a-bit of a friendly service but hardly needed their assistance so didn’t bother us too much. The complex is beautiful lots to do, clean and tidy always lots of sun beds really can’t fault it at all would highly recommend and would definitely come back.

Second time in a row and the place is second to none. Nice pools, the staff is awesome, high quality houses, the whole lot. Great place.

Great staff very helpful. Beautifully laid out with easy access to pool area no issue with sun loungers as you get with most resorts I would recommend to anyone to holiday here

Excellent for families and couples. Great facilities (tennis, yoga, massages, fitness centre). 3 pools to choose from, one with a cafe that serves drinks, ice creams and lunches, one covered and heated for outside of peak season and one with a sea view. Two have children's pools included.

HPBs place in Portugal. Well laid out and maintained, all supported by a friendly team. On site facilities include a small shop, café and several restaurants nearby. Well located on a stunning section of coastline. All good.

Pleasant, clean and relaxed vibe all round and a good swimming pool. We visited in September 21. (Great weather). It seemed fairly quiet but various sports/fitness activities were taking place. Our 2 bed accommodation was adequate though a little tired...but good value for money. The resort was a convenient base but probably would recommend access to a car. Staff very helpful.
