This is the first Hostel I’ve ever stayed in, and it far surpassed my expectations. Everything was super nice, the owner was really kind and helpful, there were drinks in the fridge, pretty much everything I could have asked for. The surrounding city and fortress were very interesting and made a great way to spend an evening with my friends. I would highly recommend for all pilgrims!

Bulwark hostel is an oasis in a fortress tucked away in a perfect location! Everything was great! The bed was very comfortable, linens and towel provided, snacks and cold drinks for sale, hot shower, laundry, clean lockers for bags, "at home with friends" atmosphere, and the amazing Deborah! Deborah is a gem and so kind, she even pulled out some gluten free bread so I could have toast with breakfast! This place was exactly what I needed and the best night's sleep so far. Thank you so much Deborah!!

Great place to stay. It was the best hostel on the Camino. Right in the middle of the fortress, cosy, impeccably clean, and Debora is one really kind host. It was not too crowded, so I guess I have been really lucky. Thank you, and hopefully, I will see you again.

I had a great stay at Bulwark. Débora and Hernanz embody the hospitality of the Camino and go above and beyond to help out. They let me store some bags for the duration of my Camino and were beyond kind when I had mobility issues preventing me from picking them up myself. Hostel-wise, it is new, clean, with beds ready for a good night of sleep, bed curtain and a nice breakfast. Bathrooms are also quite nice. Will most likely book here again.

We had a great experience here. Host was very kind. Rooms were new. Being right in the fortress was great since we could explore as soon as everyone left. Very enjoyable!

lovely welcoming hostel, very clean, wonderful facilities in midst of forteza (old fortress) on edge of river and border, you won't regret it, fabulous!

Great location in fort, of course that means you have to walk up the hill, but the Caminho trail runs through the fort in any case. Hostel bed set up was private with curtains, plug ins and light source, though all beds (even those not bunks) were set very (too) low to easily get out. Mattress and pillow very comfortable. But upper (attic) room was too hot without sunroof open and not all pilgrims wanted it open. Shower water on metered knob, with first shower of the day requiring 4 pushes for water to begin to heat. Though hot water was plentiful after. Sufficient bathrooms on floor for no waiting. Carolina was wonderful at checkin. Had hoped for a lie in as this was my rest day, but voices from breakfast/lobby very loud very early. Very nice and welcoming place to stay on the Central Caminho.
