Spectacular view over Ria Formosa, perfect for sunset. The place is very big, it’s a bit warm during the day now in Summer, but perfect for the end of afternoon and night. There is no entry fee and it’s open until late night, with Fado nights on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays. I didn’t have anything to eat, so I can’t say anything about the food, but the menu is diverse and it has interesting options, with typical dishes. The white sangria is good, it costs 17.5€ / 1L

Great fried octopus, tasty salmon, great fresh juices and a good cappuccino. Great view. The service personell was slightly understaffed. Good one! We'll return for sure! Thanks!

This is our favorite spot to watch the sunset in Faro. They have some of the best cocktails and a full menu to try new things. Additionally their outdoor patio is quite long with tables lined up along the tail to take in the sunsetting over the ocean. Come early to get a table on the rail and enjoy a wonderful evening in Faro, before heading out to dinner.

It was a lovely place to sit and have an enjoyable meal . We overlooked the waters edge which made it quite romantic. Watched the sunset. Staff very friendly. Entertainment at 8.30pm with Portuguese music. Toilets across a court yard which were very clean. Food was delicious. Price £££ . Would definitely go back for a treat . There are cheaper places with similar foods but it was nice.

Tourist trap food with an amazing view. Asked for the shrimp but were old. So asked the chef who insisted were ok. They weren’t. The sangria and drinks are nice!

This place serves great cocktails, the sangria especially was excellent The food was a little less impressive, as it was mainly finger food that tasted okay but a little too fancy for the price paid. The view however is breathtaking as you get the chance to witness a superb sunset. The place was not very crowded and there was plenty of space

The food was good but not what I asked for. I was starving and couldn't be bothered to wait for another steak to be prepared. However it was good and portion size was a good amount. Cocktails were quite nice, I would like to see a more varied selection, they did seem all a bit similar. I would recommend for a quick bite. The view is lovely, didn't like the plastic sheet that was blocking it though....

We called here for a meal, primarily attracted by the sunset views. We sat overlooking the ferry terminal after the waiter had cleaned the table for us. The menu was extensive and we both ordered the sea bass. This was superbly cooked and the fish was melt in your mouth. My dessert of fig pie was equally delicious. The views were also spectacular, the only downside being the slow service. You almost needed to lasso someone to get attention to have drinks or food. If you aren't in a rush though the place is certainly worth it.

Great lunch at this lovely restaurant with a panoramic view of the Ria Formosa. My husband said the burger was spectacular and my tuna salad was great too. We'll definitely be back.

We stopped by for afternoon drinks and some tapas with a view of the sea. The location was perfect, friendly staff, and tasty food. Definitely felt like a place popular with tourists but who can resist the views!

Great hangout spot inside the old city. We went early, around 16:00, and easily got a table overlooking the water. The drink list was fairly extensive and the whiskey pour I had was generous to say the least. It had a nice vibe, great soul music soundtrack, sports on tv and lots of bathrooms. Great place to pop in and enjoy a lovely view.

Went there with some friends for dinner and it was amazing. The staff greeted us with smiles when we came in and the food and drinks were brought to us quickly. They have a live band that plays in the evening and you can get a seat with a view of the sea and watch the beautiful sunset.

We had lovely food here but unfortunately the service was not great. It took pretty long for someone to come to our tablw to take orders and at that point finding out if the dish was gluten free proved to be hard. While we were eating our lovely food I saw a dish being ready, chef rang the bell, few minutes later again. Chef came out to see if all serving staff quit or what was happening. The plate eventually landed on the table after 9 minutes. They had 4 serving staff and 6 tables at that point. No check back was done so we couldn't compliment the chef. We had to wait ages for the bill as well. Holiday season is coming so they will have to really quickly catch up as there's so many other fantastic places in Faro and the view won't compromise for the lack of service.

Proof that it's worth meandering slightly out of the main tourist area for better quality. Great outside deck with multiple sections, service was timely and the food was great. Get the chicken & rice! It seemed totally unassuming but is one of those vacation dishes I am going to think back on for a long time! The pink fizzy limoncello drink was also by far my favorite thing I drank on vacation. Slightly pricier than surrounding but worth it!!

Great restaurant/bar in a fantastic setting with wonderful views across the ria (perfect at sunset). Large menu, food was average, but costed appropriately. Cocktail list was extensive, reasonably priced, and good quality. Service is excellent!! Our waiter Andre really made our night, what a lovely guy and a great hospitality professional! We visited on a Monday night for Fado performance and it was great, a little bit of traditional Portugal.

Nice setting overlooking the waters. Friendly and helpful staff. Lamb chops were delicious as was the children supreme. Burgers looked the better deal though. Price was ok. €75 for 2 with drinks and deserts. Other places in the area are just as good and cheaper so looses a star here. Otherwise good dining experience. Live entertainment was enjoyable to watch.

We stopped for a quick beer and ice cream with the kids hoping to cool down from the heat. We got greeted by the grumpiest waitor who got our order wrong and never searched to fix it the issue. Kinda ruined the mood. Walk a few minutes further to the plaza. You'll have many great places for drinks and gelada.

The Good: Good View over the Bay of Faro. Nice, quick and friendly Staff. The Bad: The food is -touristic- portugese and overpriced. Also missing the traditional meals like grilled sardines. Result: Go there for a drink or cocktail and enjoy the view! Dont go there for a meal.

The food was lovely, staff were welcoming and the sunset as promised was amazing. We hadn't reserved but the friendly staff found us a table

Really nice and relaxed, very good cocktails and wonderful food choices. We were here on a Nocember afternoon, sea view, sun, brilliant. Friendly service and an overall very pleasant experience.

They do have live music and it's quite enjoyable. Their apple martini is my favorite! A bit expensive and feels like they run out of staff as orders were so slow coming out.

A wonderful experience! Incredible staff, the white sangria is the best every. We had the salmon and the octopus for dinner, done superbly, so tender and delicious. We went the night before just for the sangria and decided to go back tonight for more sangria and dinner. I was great both nights! We will go back again!!

We went here twice. The first time, they forgot to bring us our main dish. Service was really bad. The man singing at the end of Fado night was great. The second time we came during the day. The tables outside were dirty. Service was really bad. So many people were working there yet no one was paying attention to the guests. Cake was terrible-tasting and ridiculously small. Mousse au chocolat was gross. Frappucino was watery. Sangria was okay, but they served it in a pitcher with a straw. When we asked for a Glas, they refused to give us one. Coffee americano was bad. Never coming here again.

This place is beautiful and the staff was kind enough to give us a table for a quick drink during sunset although all was reserved. Really appreciate the kindness. Must say prices are very fair and cheap for such a nice and well placed restaurant.

Located in the Old Town part of Faro, O Castillo is a trendy restaurant bar popular with locals and tourists alike. It appeared to attract a young, stylish crowd, especially at night. The bar is a great place to view the sunset with a glass of something chilled. A good vibe.

Food was good but with room for improvement yo make it 5 stars. We had a cheese platter for starters, octopus and fish cake for mains. Sangria was sweeter than we expected. Setting was amazing and service was good.

Best octopus .. and salmon is really nice

This place profits by its view. And so the prices for the food are a bit too high. Because the quality of the foof is standard not more. My fish was cold in the middle - so I think they only warmed it up. Cocktails are quite good and delicious. So for Cocktails and the view 3*

The view is amazing, the food was great but we had to wait ONE HOUR to receive our meal and only after we threatened to leave!

Food is somewhere between mediocre and bad. Service is not very good and slow. Only drinks were good.

  • 4/5 Emily A. 2 years ago on Google
Really great atmosphere and fantastic view. We were there during sunset and it was just perfect. The music also added to the good vibes. I really enjoyed the goat cheese plate, but my chicken salad was pretty bland. I would recommend trying something else. Staff was not very friendly and service was super slow for us. If those things were improved it would have been an excellent experience, but it was still very enjoyable since the weather was nice and we were sitting outside chilling. I would definitely recommend this place for the great vibes and amazing view. Go on a nice evening!
