We paid 30 euros for a 3 hour trip which included a tour of the salt flats and a few of the islands surrounding Faro. The sailor who took us out spoke great English and had a vast knowledge of the local sealife and birds, it was great to learn so much about the local history and ecology. The trip also included two stops at two islands bordering the Atlantic Ocean and one has a lovely little bistro. The member of staff who sold us the tickets by the marina was also really friendly and informative.

Our boat captain was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife in the natural reserve and eager to share his knowledge. We saw numerous bird species and were lucky to see dolphins. He said that, in his four years as Captain, he had never seen any dolphins inside the bay. There were about ten dolphins swimming around. Esmeralda, who sold us the tickets, was very helpful and kind. She even bought us a parking ticket to extend our parking time. Highly recommended.

Amazingly beautiful nature reserve. Saw a lot of birds and other animals. Nice views and quiet, gorgeous beaches.

Highly recommend having a boat tour with Formosamar. We had a 3-hour boat tour with Paul to visit the deserted islands around. The tour was very informative and Paul showed us many different kind of birds along the way too.

Our original tour with other company was cancelled last minute so we ended up going on a 1hr boat tour with Formosamar. We had no real expectations , the more we were pleased with how it went. Our skipper (Richard) kept us entertained and was also really knowledgeable about the area. There is of course much more to see in Rio Farmosa but we thoroughly enjoyed even this short trip - seen the swamps, loads of birds and crabs. Richard also gave as a trip tip (LUDO) and Susanne (another member of the staff) recommended as a great fish restaurant in the nearby Olhao town. Both tips proved to be great :) Thanks for accommodating us the last minute and making this a great day at Faro for us. Also, this was the most comfortable boat we’ve had in PT :) Anton & Michaela

Visited the islands, and had a fabulous time. Saw flamingos, the islands were so pretty and our guide, Miguelwas friendly and great fun/informative.

Excellent boat tour. Rui our skipper, was knowledgeable and the tour is perfectly timed. The hour long ride does not feel rushed and is very relaxing.

I have got to admit was not that impressed by this tour. I guess if you are real passionate about birds could be more interesting, but to be honest haven’t seen all this incredible beauty referring to the landscape. It’s.. ok… the boat tour last an hour before they drop you in ilha deserta for about half hour (nice but not mesmerising) and then to farol, clearly a summer destination that, again, hasn’t got much to offer to the eyes. Then after an hour they bring you back to land. I found it quite disappointing for how much it costs and for what this tour offers.

I came to Faro(Algarve) just for few nights and decided to do something unforgettable. I love the sea and boats so the best thing was to go on a boat trip. Susane was so helpful and explained what trips I would prefer, so I choose Sunset boat trip and next day 3 hours boat trip with two stops. We had an amazing guide Fernando and I spend both trips with him. He has so much knowledge, very helpful and the most important thing that you feel very safe on board with him. I highly recommend this company for your unforgettable experience in Faro. I will never forget this amazing short trip! Thank you so much!

The tour was really good and worth the money. Our guide was really nice and provided us with a lot of cool information about the local wildlife. Highly recommend taking the 3 hour tour.

We took the sunset tour and then the 3 island tour the next day with Paolo as our guide on both trips. He was excellent and really made the experience. Even though the weather wasn’t the best (cloudy and a bit overcast) it was still enjoyable and a worthwhile trip whilst in Faro

With a wide variety in tours to chose from I am 100% satisfied we made the right decision booking this tour. I booked a 3-island tour on recommendation with Formosamar after taking the ferry from Faro Beach, and I was not disappointed. Despite a slightly overcast day, the tour guide made a really enjoyable trip around Ria Formosa national park. The tour lasted 3 hours and cost €35, which I think is reasonable when compared with other boat tours I've had in the past. If you find yourself free on a sunny day, the tour starts at many different times throughout the day - well worth a look!

We had a lovely afternoon with skipper Rui! We took the 3 hour tour of the Ria Formosa, on a sunny day in October at 15.00 in the afternoon. Rui was really great and talked many languages ranging from Portuguese to English or French. He accommodated to the various guests nicely. We stopped at multiple locations to get explanations of the faune and flora, watching the different birds, crabs… even got to taste some fresh Salicorne. He also told us a little bit of history of the area. We stopped at the desert island for half an hour and later at Farol Island with its pittoresques village and light tower. We were free to walk and discover the island for an hour. Overall I can only recommend the experience. We booked online and the whole process was smooth. Would highly recommend Formosamar for your day out at sea. I myself am not super at ease on the waters but felt safe the whole ride. In case someone is having doubts ;)

We had an amazing experience ! From booking our tickets at the Faro Marina to our sunset on the boat with Flavio, everything was there to enjoy our last day in Faro. Thank you so much for this experience, I will definitely recommend this company to whoever wants to visit the Algarve

We had 1 hour trip with Paulo who is marine biologist. It was very interesting expedition and Paolo provided much knowledge of flora and fauna of Formosa. Price was a bit steep for 1 hour trip (18 euros per person), but it was worth it.

Paolo and Esmeralda were amazing. Helpful, informative and friendly..islands are beautiful.

My review is for the bike rental. We got 2 bikes, but we had to wait around 20 mins, because they were preparing people for a boat trip. The bikes were nice and modern, unfortunately the gears didn't switch very well. They didn't have lights, or a ringer. They gave us a map with a trail for Faro beach, but we already made plans to go to Estoi (they had no clue about the road, we took the one paralel with the national road, and it was nice). All in all it's ok, but check your gears when taking the bike.

We had a great trip with Paulo. Paulo is a marine biologist, super knowledgeable and speaks many languages fluently. Also very baby friendly :)

Loved this 45 min tour. Tour operator very knowledgeable about marine biology. (Has a master's degree.) Enjoyed the bird sightings. Because the boat is solar-powered, it was very quiet, serene almost. We highly recommend this eco tour.

We made the 45 min tour in the Laguna. At the beginning, we were very annoyed by the fact that the boat was 15 min later than announced (Paolo informed the lady he was eating and the time he could pick up the boat took longer than expected) the boat didn't have a roof (the lady sold us the boat with a roof for our baby). She should be more honest instead of selling what we want but they don't have.. But we give 5 stars for Paolo, he's kind, welcoming, he did a roof with what he got for our son. He's passionate.
