Beautiful resort, great garden rooms with patios, everywhere was spotless, breakfast was buffet style, good food, and a lot of choices. Very nice outdoor dining area next to a small lagoon with very friendly resident swans…Didn’t have dinner there. Ideal place for golfers as the club was a two minute walk from the resort. Set in a very quiet area but close enough to get to the marina…..only drawback was some of the rooms were quite a long walk from the pool, reception etc but the staff were happy enough to move us closer. Great outdoor pools and one very nice indoor pool, would have been great if the pool bar was open. Price was extremely good for May!

I've been to this hotel by the end of August with the family. Great and attentive service, nice gardens, small gym to keep yourself fit, pleasant indoor pool and... cherry on top of the cake: beautiful golf course! Keep up the good job!

Solid three stars, not five. Pros: great location, friendly staff, nice pool, generous breakfast, it’s a very quiet place and if you’re looking to disconnect it’s a nice option. Also it’s just 10 mins drive from the Marina where you have a great variety of restaurants. Cons: cleaning is pretty deficient, the food at the pool bar leaves much to be desired and it’s the saddest lobby bar I’ve seen in my entire life 😂 good thing Marina is pretty close.

Irecently had the misfortune of staying at a hotel that displayed a shocking disregard for personal property and privacy. Upon check-in, I was carrying a tube that contained a painting of immense sentimental value to me. To my absolute horror, I later discovered that the hotel staff had taken it upon themselves to open this tube and, in what I can only describe as a thoughtless and invasive act, they completely destroyed the painting inside. The painting was an irreplaceable piece that held significant emotional worth, as it was closely tied to personal memories and milestones in my life. The staff's decision to invade my personal belongings without permission is unforgivable and displays a profound lack of respect for the guests and their property. The manner in which they handled the contents was not only careless but also showed a blatant disregard for the possible value--emotional or otherwise-of the items in their care. I am appalled by the lack of professionalism and the cavalier attitude displayed by the hotel management when I brought this issue to their attention. Instead of offering an immediate apology and compensation for the damage, their response was lackluster, and they shirked responsibility for the irreparable harm they had caused. This incident has left me deeply distressed and disheartened. The hotel's negligence has resulted in the loss of something that can never be replaced or replicated. It's a stark reminder that sometimes the trust we place in establishments, expecting them to respect our personal items, can be misplaced. I strongly caution any future guests to think twice before entrusting this hotel with anything of value, be it monetary or sentimental. The blatant mishandling of my property has not only led to a personal loss but has also tainted the memories associated with the painting.

60th birthday treat. 4days, 2 rounds. Very busy course, ladies 4ball not interested in letting a 2ball through!! However, that allowed us to relax a little & enjoy the surroundings. Food excellent, service 10/10. Would definitely go back.

This place is amazing. Went for a stag 4 day week. The golf course is second to none, variety, difficulty, quality, 10 out of 10. 6 of the group are from Newcastle area, there's a sir Bobby Robson statue, tournament and bar area. Even streets named after him. This trip will hopefully become a yearly thing for me and the lads. Loved every minute. The stag loved it too. The staff were brilliant, glad they could speak English and even understood the northern accent. Beautiful place.

It's ideally suited for golfing holidays. Nice course. However you can easily have a regular here and the price is good.

I came with my sister in law for the golf..absolutely perfect. We loved every minute.. we had dinner in the green pine restaurant which was good value for money. Breakfast was good. Very nice food. Lots to choose from. The golf course is great. We played all the holes 1-27 absolutely great course challenging at times.....the location is perfect not too far from the airport. We would love to make a special mention to the reception staff Miguel and Paula who went out of their way to go that extra mile and with smiles . We would definitely come here again and considering next year

This a beautiful place everyone of the staff are very nice and nothing is a problem. The meals and the rooms are amazing. Everywhere very clean. My only problem is it's a bit out of the way no supermarket or small corner shops close by.

Hotel looks good, nice pools and well-kept grounds, breakfast is good. Gym is attractive but very hot, 6 cardio machines and weights available to hotel guests (around half the space is reserved for personal training). Hotel is about 3 miles drive from the town. Uber was good value if don't have car. Lunch at the pool bar was poor, food not served hot, but he golf club bar is much better. We had ant and mosquito infestation in our room, reception was very dismissive suggesting we should expect this in a resort hotel. We saw other guests reporting similar problems and getting the same response. When we were given a new room for our last night, then at 2.30am a man enters having been allocated the same room. A second person from the same party at reception had also been allocated an already-occupied room. No apology, no reaction at all to this on checkout.

Lovely hotel with the nicest and friendliest staff especially at the pool bar/towel pick up and in the restaurant. Outdoor pool is lovely and there’s always space to swim. The food in the restaurant (especially breakfast) is great and full of choice. Rooms are spacious and spa treatments very good. Very kind touch to bring my husband a birthday cake mid holiday. Downside is the very shabby indoor pool/sauna with peeling paint that’s not very clean.

Stayed for a week with the family and had a great experience. The staff were amazing and the quality of the complex was at a high standard as you would expect. We had a great holiday and it was a lot to do with this perfect complex. A special shout out to Daniel and Luciano who work in the restaurant for their care and attention everytime we saw them

Absolutely loved this hotel between the staff the rooms (had a separate sitting room, great with a baby), indoor swimming pool, breakfast beside the swans and ducks, nice walk in the grounds, spa, tennis, playground and golf. Only down side was its not buggy friendly outside the hotel grounds. Needed to rent a car as not possible to walk

Hey guys, what a pleasant stay we had, absolutely amazing time with a great, friendly, polite and professional staff, I am leaving this review before we have even checked out which is tomorrow but this place is definitely worth 5 stars with great food and a nice ambience. Thanks to everyone who made our week so much fun. Good selection of breakfast lunch and dinner and cleanliness was top notch too. Definitely worth the visit and we will definitely be back in future. muito obrigado

Excellent stay at the hotel and perfect for families! Both pools were fantastic, smaller one perfect for smaller children, cleanliness and rooms were lovely. Already planning our trip for next year!!

Lovely hotel for a peaceful break. Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake and the golf course and it was nice to sit there of an evening with a chilled glass of wine. There are outdoor pools but the indoor one with jacuzzi needs modernising/refurbishment. Good choice of food and fruit for breakfast. Not too expensive to go to the beach or the marina (which had lots of places to eat and shop) or to historical areas to visit.

Excellent hotel with all the facilities you could want. The staff are really friendly apart from the pool bar who seem to think you are an inconvenience and the beer is served in paper cup. We preferred walking to the golf club bar, less then 5 minute walk where you get your beer in an actual glass and it is cheaper. You also have a nice view of the golf course. The pools are nice, although the top paddling pool could do with a clear out. The pool food is very nice and breakfast is exceptional with a huge variety of fresh food where there is something for everyone. You can even have a glass of champagne. There are a few bars and restaurants about a 20 minute walk away but if you want a nice walk around you'll have yo get a taxi, about €12 to the seafront. Would definitely return.

For a big resort hotel the staff are lovely and attentive. The bar prices and snacks reasonable too. However. When you get to your rm it's a throwback to the 80s. Even a phone still by the loo to call who? All very formica and brown. It was nowhere near 5 star in comparison to some 4 star hotels we have been to. The pool was lovely. Breakfast is chaotic though. Upgrade in coffee as it really wasn't good and just an overhaul on the food to make it local and less standardised. We hope you get a room upgrade soon as you have every potential to be 5 stars... But its not there in our comparison to other resorts in Portugal yet.

It was the first time and it was a disappointment. The surrounding area is beautiful, lots of trees and unobstructed, but the management of the hotel is chaos. The rooms are outdated, the bathroom mirrors are old, there is humidity on the ceiling, the room floor is uncomfortable, tiles in bad condition, there is not even a rug to put your feet on when you wake up. The management of breakfast is a headache, no one has well defined functions, employees walk from one place to another and do not serve customers. There are no gluten-free products although they are marked and although I had asked in advance that I needed them, every morning it was an endless wait and sometimes they didn't even have them It is a hotel that I will not return to because the value you pay for the service and comfort offered is a 3/4 star hotel, never a 5 star hotel.

Difficult one this, some things 5 star, some things 2 star. I imagine if ur a golfer or use the Spa, it's great but I'm not. Staff hit & miss, some great, some miserable. Breakfast choice is excellent, yet to try an evening meal but will do so. Taxi booking system via reception an absolute shambles, taxi drivers didn't have names or room numbers to work to, big groups waiting at same time for taxis & scrambling to get there first. Cleanliness is top notch & daily & facilities & food in the pool bar brilliant. Also there is no shuttle bus to the marina which is 5km away, I think a 5 star resort that's this busy should provide this, as to even get basics like bread & water is a hike or a taxi. As I said if you're a golfer this place is ideal & discounts for the local courses are great, however I won't be returning.

Stayed here for our first golf holiday. It was quiet season so not overly busy. It's right next to the golf course which is handy. The rooms are a bit dated and the beds could do with new mattresses. We did get upgraded to a garden view suite which was a nice touch. We did have some ants in the room but nothing to major considering where we stayed. Overall for the price we paid at the start of the season it was fine and would recommend it.

As you would expect from a 5 star hotel in Portugal. All clean, all very well staffed, everybody well prepared, still you can notice the effects of covid as some of the staff seem to be new in the job and not fully up to the needs, however the teams are able to cover for this which is fine and barely noticeable. On the small downside there are some equipment out of order for the time being like some of the entertainment machines, the smallest pool but generically speaking all is well maintained. The gardens are absolutely beautiful to look at and there's green everywhere. You have pools, exterior and interior, tennis courts, golf if you fancy it, kids playground, music, bars...etc. all in all highly recommended.

The hotel itself is clean, food, pool, room good, and no thumping music around the pool! - but the service is way off what you would expect from a 5 star. More like fawlty towers - expect lots of little things that will add up and cause frustration. The pool bar staff leave you to aimlessly trying to receive some sort of service. We were shown a table and handed the menus but the they forgot to come take the order! On another day they took the order but forgot to pass it on to the kitchen! We had to get the door cards reprogrammed twice as they didn't bother to look up on the system when we due to check out! House keeping kept leaving two sets of towels even though we had a suite with 3 beds clearly being used! Beware, drinks are expensive too, and explains why the entertainment was playing to an empty bar during our stay in July - 5 Euros for 75cl bottle of water! All soft drinks are around that 4.50 mark. Basically this hotel is a mixed bag that really needs to raise it's game.

Decent hotel, rooms are a nice size with a proper balcony. The reception, dining and bar services were great! The clean up service every day was not up to standard I would say, and lacked attention to detail. The location is a bit far out from Vilamoura activities, you will either need a car or rely on uber/taxi services .

We stayed here for 7 nights and can highly recommend this fabulous hotel. We stayed in one of the villas overlooking the swimming pool and it was so peaceful and we had a super break away. The hotel staff especially Paula and Armando at reception gave us a wonderful welcome and during our stay could not do enough for us to ensure we were enjoying our holiday. The restaurant and pool bar staff especially Ruben Abdul Inis Ruthe Hilda and the 2 amigos at the pool bar both called Daniel were so outstanding in every aspect of our stay. It was my husbands birthday when we were there and a beautiful birthday cake was in our villa and Daniel made a signature cocktail for us. We can 100 per cent recommend this hotel for families couples and if your a golfer it is perfect. The hotel is immaculate and our room was spotless on our arrival and everyday when we stayed there. Thank you to all in the Pestana you made our stay very special and we will see you again. I am a coeliac and require a gluten free diet and there were very good options for breakfast and they made sure all of my food was gluten free. Thank you Karen and Malcolm

Fantastic golfing weekend away, it can be a challenging course but it's great fun and competitive with friends. Villa's are comfortable with excellent facilities, hotel bar and restaurant are also top notch.

Highly recommend Pestana Vila Sol. Fantastic facilities, golf course, indoor & outdoor pools. Chalets we were in fit 4, large double & sofa bed, great for small family. Breakfast was fantastic, so much to choose from, omelettes, pancakes, cereals, cheese, ham, presunto, croissants, queque, fruits, yoghurt...the list goes on! We didn't eat dinner in the hotel. Highly recommend Thai Beach Club in Villamoura, fabulous food & a great vibe with a lovely DJ. 😍

A 5-star Resort with a 4-star rating. It just missed the expectations slightly; still good but not excellent. For starters, there are small details in the maintenance that were lacking. The external pool had tiles missing, where they used tiles and didn’t, the floor was uneven, and the pool lounge chairs needed to be cleaned or replaced because the place where people put their feet was a different colour from usage. dirty8? Maybe, I don’t know but what I do know is the colour was different. Moving towards the buffet breakfast was satisfactory. All the usuals were there but what disappointed me is that for one, there were minimal regional products, and two, the ones they did have were not of the highest quality—special notice for the fruits, which were excellent and fresh. Relative to the bedrooms, same story, good but not great. The bed was terrific, and the bathroom was clean, but the main floor bedroom was not clean. We would leave at 9 am, mark the room for cleaning, and then return at 2 pm, and the room would not be clean. We called for them to come, which was always quick but still, why wasn’t the room cleaned in the morning as they did on the first day? Patio light didn’t work 🤷‍♂️which wasn’t an issue for us, but it should work. And finally, the wall in the bedroom was scratched a lot, which would be ok for a 3star place, not 5. The people in the reception were excellent, but some people riding the service carts seemed to have a thing for racing because they would speed over a bridge near our room that would make noise. The kids' room, again, friendly people, but they only do activities if enough children are present. We went with our daughter, and there was only one other kid, so no activity. One kid is enough to do an activity. This review might come off as unfavourable, but that is not the intention, we enjoyed our time there, and we have had great Pestana experiences. This one just fell short of the expectations we have had set from previous experiences.
