National Art Gallery is another popular place to visit, especially for those who are interested in exploring various arts, belonging to different centuries. Established in 1907, it presents a brilliant example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. This art gallery consists of various sections, each presenting a rare collection, with some even dating back to the 11th century.

The gallery is well maintained. Especially interesting are unique bronze pieces and Buddha in Greco-Roman style and with a mustache. Overall worth a visit.

The National Art Gallery[1] situated in Egmore, Chennai, is one of the oldest art galleries in India. It is located in the Government Museum Complex on Pantheon Road, Egmore, which also houses the Government Museum and the Connemara Public Library. Constructed with red stones sourced from Satyavedu in Andhra Pradesh, the Gallery was built in 1906 in Indo-Sarsenic architecture and houses paintings from Thanjavur, Rajasthan, Kangra and Deccan areas, as well as sandalwood sculptures.[2] The Gallery has remained closed since 2002, as part of the structure suffered damage.[2]

The National Art Gallery is located on Pantheon Road in Egmore. It is a fine example of the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The gallery was initially known as Victoria Memorial Hall. Built of sandstone in the year 1907 by T. Namberumal Chetty, the gallery showcases medieval handicrafts, sculptures, metal ware and paintings that belong to various schools of art. The National Art Gallery consists of four different sections, which are Tanjore Painting Gallery, Decorative Art Gallery, Indian Traditional Art Gallery and Ravi Varma Painting Gallery. The miniature paintings from the Mughal era, handicrafts from 11th and 12th centuries and Rajput paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries are also on display.
