Its an glad, wonderful amazing and immense pleasure experience in this museum..!! words are not enough to express my feelings about this museum we can find a lots of varieties in cameras and as well as video recorders..!! the collection speaks the passion towards cameras and photography of Dr. arun..!! it was an unique idea..keep rock sir..!! from the point of entrance to exit it was unforgettable moments..!! A real temple to an photography lover and photographer..!! what not you can find almost all varieties here... for the people who likes cameras they can spend almost a half day or around 4-5 hours..!!! it was real appreciable work done by Dr. Arun and efforts of staff for maintaining this museum very clean..staff is with good courtesy they are ready to explain all the things which you felt doubt in any aspect..!! personally it was very appreciable work of Dr. Arun.. a must visiting place in chennai rather than waste stuff... the entrance ticket is not a big issue here..actually if you charge more also it would be worth to your museum..!! every camera every lens every thing whether it is minute or massive thing are much well maintained..!! This one of a kind museum was truly a joy to visit. The museum is highly informative with an incredible collection of cameras, dating back to the 1870's. The museum additionally has well-informed staff who were able to demonstrate how different cameras worked and gave us useful information about several models. As a photography enthusiast, this was a real treat, but i would recommend it to anyone who's interested in seeing or learning a little bit more about the world of cameras. This was definitely one of my favourite attractions in Chennai.

Simply superb collections Who are all interested in photography they should visit this place. Entry fees of 70 for adults and 30 for childrens will be collected at the entrance. One small AV about camera will be presented before beginning the visit. One guide will accompany with us for explaining the camera collections. Here we can see may variety of cameras and variety in sizes too. World war 2 cameras also in their collection. I saw a room size big camera which was used in Mysore palace. In addition to this they are conducting photography classes too.

This place is a must visit. It's a hidden gem in Chennai. You'll definitely enjoy and be in awe about the collection housed here. And the staff member on board is really welcoming and provides so much information with enthusiasm... Just go and pay them a visit, you wouldn't regret it.

Excellent collection, extremely well maintained and catalogued. Video show and information provided is excellent. Staff is very polite and helpful and eager to provide information about the exibhits. It's a little difficult to imagine that this vast collection is accomplished by a single person. Hat's off to the dedication and passion of Dr. Arun. Don't miss when in Chennai. Approximately 60 to 120 minutes required to view the collection (depending on your interest levels) Car parking is available. Restaurant next door. Wash room is available on premises.

This is a 'must visit' place - even if we are not into photography... you will not come away disappointed; and if anything, will be inspired to pick up a hobby because this is a great example of what passion can help you achieve. The place itself is very well maintained (which I think is self funded). There is a modest fee for entrance / camera, which is more than worth. It's on the first floor with no lift, which is a pity since this is a goldmine for many avid camera enthusiasts of earlier generations. There are thousands of cameras (they say 1500 but felt far more), earliest being from the 1870s, gigantic box cameras of almost 10ft length, miniature cameras which are less than 3inches in size, spy cameras, world war I & II cameras, and not to forgets great nuggets of information on history of photography and cameras. There are also some vintage and antique articles in the ground floor. All in all a must visit place... if you are visiting Mahabs or thereabouts on ECR, do keep a 2 hr slot for this place and you'll not regret it.

Photography Museum is a one of a kind place and is both for true enthusiasts as well as novices who want to spend time understanding the birth and evolution of photography. Its a small but well maintained place. Start with the video which Chronicles the timeline and evolution of photography. Follow it by looking at vintage cameras from the 19th century onwards, some of them as big as 8 feet. Also look a specialist cameras such as the ones used for taking aerial photos from planes as far back during the 2nd World war to origin of view finders, films and digital photography overall work spending about 2 hours if you are a true enthusiast.

A great camera museum. Has many antique camera (still and video). The place is air-conditioned hence a relaxing place in the hot humid region. There was a person explaining different cameras, their use, age etc. Some of the important exhibit include antique cameras used in world wars, aircraft cameras, old video cameras etc. A free video presentation is also shown telling the importance and history of photography. Apart from cameras there are other related artifacts such as flash, memory cards, films, slides etc. This place is close to Kovalam beach and The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology hence all these places can be visited together.

The best place in India to know about vintage cameras. The huge collections of around 3200 cameras displayed professionally tells about the development of cameras over the past 140 years. As a photographer, photography mentor and YouTuber, I strongly recommend anyone interested in photography to visit this museum and spend some quality time. I have made a series of videos titled 'Evolution of cameras' in my YouTube channel, 'KLR the photo guru' about the collections. Please watch it to know more about the rare cameras.

What an awesome place. Must visit for Camera lovers. People love photography but passion for keeping antique cameras is something different and it's actually out of the world when we see the size of the collection. Most strange part is that the entire collection is owned by a DOCTOR !!!

We went to this museum last week thinking its open. Its been shut for a bit ( at least thats what the neighboring restaurant said). There was a board that said it will be shut till July, its September now. Imagine they meant July 2023. Anyways it was a waste of time and a disappointment. I wish the owner would have the courtesy to update on Google

A must see museum for all. In the age where a photo is just a phoneclick away, this museum shows how the photography evolved from camera obscura to huge bellows which took 3 days to focus to our present day. It is very well maintained and evokes interest to even non-photographers like me.
