Lord Murugan Temple @ Kundrathur is not only a spiritual place but also a great tourist spot with so many lush green fields, lakes, trees around. There is a road taking up the hillock our vehicles and enough parking space, restrooms, head-tonsure bay, flower vendors available at top adjacent to the temple. The temple poojaries don't accept coconut breaking & abhiseksms but simple deepa archanai is performed due to covid restrictions. Had good darshan of Lord Murugan as part of our thanks-giving gesture. Prasadams like pulisadham, Hanumar vada, laddu, adhirasam, drinking water, tap water for hand & leg washing, etc are available inside the main temple. Covid protocols were maintained & insisted by temple staff. Overall a very satisfying spiritual trip.

The temple located in the outskirts of Chennai is an ancient and remarkable structure that holds significant historical and religious value. It is dedicated to Lord Murugan, and the temple is situated on a hilltop, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. The temple is believed to be very old, dating back to the Chola Dynasty, which was one of the most influential and powerful dynasties of South India. The Chola rulers were great patrons of art, literature, and architecture, and their legacy can be seen in the stunning design and intricate carvings of this temple. One of the unique features of this temple is the 84 steps that lead up to the hilltop, where the main deity is located. Climbing these steps can be a challenging but rewarding experience, as it offers a sense of spiritual fulfillment and physical exercise. However, for those who cannot climb the steps, there is an option to drive directly to the temple in the hill without climbing the stairs. Upon reaching the top, visitors can witness the awe-inspiring sight of Lord Murugan, who is depicted facing North in this temple. The deity is considered to be one of the most powerful and significant gods in Hindu mythology, and his presence in this temple adds to its overall significance. Overall, the temple is a must-visit destination for those who are interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage and religious traditions of South India. Its beauty, historical significance, and spiritual energy make it an unforgettable experience

We visited temple on Tuesday and it’s very much crowded. Must visit temple in Chennai . Parking space and the pathway to reach the temple should be maintained properly. Police guarding the temple at main points. There is a road to reach the top of temple in case if you have difficulties walking through steps. Overall we had a good experience here.

I visited on a Saturday evening around 7:00pm, there was very little crowd (or no crowd, only handful devotees) seen allowing for a peaceful and focused spiritual experience. Highlights: -Ample space for cars and two wheeler parking. -Neatly maintained (inside and outside the temple). -Peaceful environment. -Paid prasadam served with digital pay facility.

Ideal place for those who want to spend peaceful time in temple for meditation (during normal days). Able to access both my road and steps. Old temple with strong history. Well maintained temple campus. Nice view of ORR and Kundrathur city view is guaranteed while you walk around temple campus. Not much crowded place. Have amble car parking space. Reduced star ratings due to my personal experience in car parking. Though we need to pay parking fee, after collecting money they’re vanished and my car got a heavy scratch mark by another car parked next to me but no one there to question!!!

Om Muruga. This is very old temple nearly 800 years old.Small hill with all age people's can climb.Lord Murugan with goddess valli and goddess Devayani are the main gods here. Very popular temple in and around Chennai. Bike and car parking is available in hill itself. So people who wants to come in vehicle can reach very easily. 2kms from kundrathur bus stand. Share auto is available. All families should visit atleast once. Due to lockdown restrictions, please check temple open days and timings before you plan.Thanks.

Well maintained temple. 7 KMs from Kumananchavadi bus stop. You get beautiful view from any point in the temple. There is a way to take your vehicle to top. Temple has ample parking space. You have to climb up 40-50 steps to reach the temple

Temple maintenance was good. It was too chill in the area where god is placed. There are several small shops outside where they sell bangles, toys, etc. Inside the temple there is a snack shop where they sell puliyodharai, Pallavan, Pongal etc . It was of good taste. There is car parking available. It’s busy during evenings.

Really a good place to visit their. Absolutely you'll have peaceful mind there. The temple is situated at the top of the mountain and you have to go by stairs. I don't know how wheel chair persons or physically disabled persons can able to go their. I don't know whether there is any bathroom facility is available. The place was clean and you'll feel the fresh air from all the sides. Enjoy the peace. Om

Pleasant temple situated nearby chennai city 10 kms from chrompet, 13 kms from tambaram. Small hill temple around 84 steps. We can also reach temple by road without walking on steps. Temple timing 6 to 12.30, 4 to 8. Spacious free parking available on both places (below hill and above hill). One of the good place for lord muruga devotees. Will visit again and again.

For the last four years, during Thaipusam was in Penang Balathandayuthabani Temple. This time temple was closed. I hope Lord Muragan decided to see him in Kundrathur on 28-Jan-2021. Feel blessed. After a long years visited Kundrathur temple. Not much crowd around 9 am. While getting down huge devotees at 11am. Nice temple. Murugannukku Arogara !!

Not an "Arupadai Veedu" but a very holy shrine for Murugan nevertheless, that you cannot afford to miss. The easiest way to go there is via the GST road via Pallavaram. Actually it is also located not far form the "Thiruneermalai Perumal Temple" which means you could visit the "Neervanna Perumal/Ranganathar Perumal Temple (Divya Desam)" also if you can figure out the closest route to this temple which on Google Maps looks pretty close. Went there on a Sunday and it was somewhat crowded. There is ample parking space for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The flight of steps is not steep and not many in number either. The best tip is to avoid walking the lengthy empty "snaking" queue, particularly if there is no crowd. Lookout for an entrance near the columns located to the left of the main shrine, where you can enter the queue easily instead of going through piped long winding enclosure. Chances are that if other people find this entrance you end up even more behind the rear of the queue. The "Darshan" is blissful. Your "Archana" coconuts will have to be given to a priest who breaks them before you reach the main deity. So do not forget this step as they will not allow you to break the coconuts before the deity . The route from Kundrathur back to GST via Pallavaram is traffic chocked and so if you could find another alternative that would be good too.

Near outer ring road. Main god is Murugan and Sunday evening we have completed our dharsan, rush is less. There are 84 steps to reach this hill temple. Vehicles (cars, bikes, autos) can also be driven up the hill right up to the front of the temple on the hill, for those that cannot walk up the 84 steps. Car 🚗 parking is available.

Peaceful, calm and beautiful sceneric views Tonsure(மொட்டை) is also done at the temple premises. Public transportation: Get down at Kunrathur bus stop and take a share auto to temple which is around 1.5km, direct bus services isn't available.

Devine place. Maintenance was good. Spl dharshan ticket 50 Rupees. Stala virukksham is in backside of the ganesh sannadhi. We can see the gopura kalasam near this tree. Temple located in a hill. We can reach this temple by steps or by road. They have put shades and carpets because of summer it helps us to walk. There has a door in opposite to dhakshanamoorthy sannady this door lead us to backside of the temple. In my opinion it is the best place for doing meditation. Because this place is very calm and surrounded by nature. View point also good. Personally I like the place very much.

One of the famous Murugan temple in the outskirts of Chennai. This is the only Murugan temple in Tamil Nadu where the Moolavar ( main deity) is standing in a north facing direction. This temple was constructed by King Kulothunga Chola II. There are 84 steps to reach this hill temple. Vehicles (cars, bikes, autos) can also be driven up the hill right up to the front of the temple on the hill, for those that cannot walk up the 84 steps. The temple is very close to the outer ring road for those that need faster accessibility to the temple. Pallavaram to Kundrathur there are a lot of buses too but do not go all the way to the temple. Once winning the demons in Thiruporur, Lord Muruga went to Thirutani in a joyous spirit. He placed a Siva Linga, performed pooja and meditated deep. The temple was subsequently constructed by the great Chola King Kulothunga Chola. Lord Siva, worshiped by Lord Muruga graces the worshipers in the name of Kandaleeswarar in a separate shrine.

A nice temple to visit...atop the hill. The temple and premises are pretty tidy... U can either take the stairs which is a nice feeling or else u can drive / ride uphill. There's a nominal parking fee uphill, donno the amount as I preferred stairs...nice place to spend some time if the climate is not so hot... Not even a single tea shop is in the vicinity of the temple, so carry your water bottles.. The locality, especially downhill is not so neat and clean....same as the very narrow road leading to the temple... Too many beggars around which is also quite normal near temples, especially in Tamilnadu..

Accessible via steps for those walking.. just few steps… parking available at the base. Also vehicles can go up the hill to the temple itself. Parking available at the top also. Nice place to get Lord Murugan's blessings. Small hill temple located outside the city. Visitors need to check the timing and covid restrictions before visiting the temple.

Temple is located on a small hill with around 80 steps to reach. Latest painting and coloring of premises have greatly improved the outlook. It's centuries old temple of Lord Murugan. One can take vehicles near to temple entrance if they are unable to use steps. Had great darshan experience. A family visit will definitely give great spiritual experience. Near by there is lard perumal temple but it was not open when we visited.
