Cool place to visit particularly during the early hours in winters. Could experience the fresh Morning air and foggy atmosphere everywhere in and around the lake. Chembarambakkam Lake, built during the Cholas rule is really a must visit with friends and family members. Narrow streams around the lake add an additional attraction with white lotus, fishes everywhere in the streams. Overall it’s a pleasant and serene environment to experience.

It’s a nice chill out place to visit. But don’t visit it after it’s working hours. There will be gates closing after the mentioned time and sometimes the police will come and ask us to leave the area. So plan accordingly.

The View Point is Officially Closed Down and is Not Advisable to get in, The Place is Not Maintained and Doesn't look Safe Either. Enjoy The Scenic View of Lake and Some Places Opposite To the View Point Lake Road were So Perfect For Photography.

Best place to see sunset and enjoy the evening. But this place is not allowed for trespassers and restricted at the moment. People those who visited this place can enjoy the sunset and brezzy air, at the same be careful not getting into the water since its not safe and there is no safety jacket and people around the dam. Its so deep as well, care and cautious is most needed

Hidden gem in Chennai near Poonamallee. Happened to see the beautiful view of chembarambakkam lake and dam. No entry fee collected. No parking facility is available. You have to park your bike or car far away and walk for 20 mins to reach the view point. Evenings are the best time to visit this place.

A good weekend getaway for those who are in and around Chennai. Largest lake in Chennai providing drinking water to Chennai. Best time to visit this lake is during December right after the monsoon. It's a treat to eyes to watch the lake filled up to the brim. Lake is so large that when filled up to the brim, you would only see water till the horizon. Access to the lake is restricted by gates, but there are certain paths through which you can bypass the locked gates if you are coming here by bicycle or motorbike. Roads on top of the lake is quite rough and not proper, but this isn't a bothering factor. Enquire with locals to know how to reach the top. Pumping station tower can be easily accessed via the road through Nazarathpet.

Awesome view point, don't expect any facility. Don't go after late in the evenings for safety reasons. Go on bicycle or bike, the roads are closed for four wheelers.

Beautiful place to visit and relax in weekends. It's so big you can't even see the other end of the lake. Great place to see sunsets. Visit with your friends and family for a chill evening. There's no shops or stores nearby, can be reach by 2 wheeler and by walk too. But the main viewpoint building is closed and not maintained properly.

The view's nice from the top but everything's maintained poorly. It's all rusted and the biggest danger was 3 of the metal slabs were left open, exposing the deep water below. Anyone could fall in there.

Morning views of the lake are breathtaking. There’s little to no noise, given its still unheard of by many people. There are birds everywhere, a small number of boats on the lookout for fish, and a really calming breeze, which also hits the ceilings of the view point in such a way that you can hear the wind churning. That was a pleasant surprise.

Beautiful Place to visit. Best time to visit is early morning between sunrise to around 7/8. Place is very peaceful and serene. We went cycling and approach route was bad and strict no for roadies, but worth the drive. It has a nice running path too which we can run and nice trails too

One of the most underrated places in Chennai. Barely locals come here. It's got an outstanding view. Only bikes can enter. Car you'll have to park at entrance and walk in. A long stretch of walk of one km 😍

Must visit hot spot in Chennai! Its huge. Don't know how did I missed to visit such place before, Dream come true moment. I request TN Government should open the place for public view adding safety measures. Obviously this place would become next best place after Marina Bessie... 🏞🌁

    ● Best place to see sunset. You will not find any crowd here. Nice place to spend your evening. ● I will not recommend you to visit this place by four wheelers, go by bike. ● This is a reservoir from where Chennai is getting drinking water. ● You can come here for fishing also.

Hey y'all, if you're looking for a chill spot, this place is pretty darn refreshing. I'd recommend swinging by before 8:00AM or after 4:00PM. Oh, and heads up, bikes can cruise in through the side gate, but cars, not so much. Parking your car there isn't the greatest idea, but if you're stuck, it should be mostly safe – about 90% of the time.

The place has a nice view but one thing is that there are some plants that need to cleaned waste plants are there and the water is all clean, there are lovers sitting under the plants that need to be cut down, they use a nice place as lovers place. Please visit this once a better to visit near Chennai

6am visit. Was really good. Recent hotspot after the 2015 flooding as every one is very keen in knowing the water level as near by mudichur will be fully flooded if this lake overflow. Looks like small beach. I saw few people boating not actually a boat s small piece of wood. Might be catching fish or something.

Amazing location to spend time away from the chaos of the city. The best time to visit would be in the evening. After 5:30pm there are chances for the police to check the location.

Side Gates would be closed; can easily go around the pillar supporting the gate. There’s a small temple alongside the outer walls of the dam. Location not safe for females after 6PM.

Beautiful place but worst maintainance by our government. It could have been the one of the best toursist attraction spot in rainy days, if it would have proper road and good maintainance .

It would be a nice place if the roads are maintained well and lights are provided. Currently the condition of roads are too bad and there is no lighting.

  • 3/5 Avinash T. 3 years ago on Google
Though view is very good, Silent place to sit, it's not at all safe. The road on Google map is also confusing as it might remain closed or obstructed by metal gate. Very few tourist people there. We can see only local fisherman catching fishes. I saw couple of groups boozing and spoiling the point. The view point also remains closed/ locked and no one is allowed to go the view point. Not worth to go with family.
