Today I visited this temple as I was attending a program in Krishna gana sabha. Huge gates welcomed me into the temple. Being last day of Aadhi month, lot of Amman songs were played. First you get to see the main deity. Seen in standing pose holding pasham, lotus, sulam and a small bowl, Her eyes are too powerful. The main deity is standing behind, while urchava vigram is seen in smaller size standing in the front. You take a left and enter Maha Ganapathi, then proceed towards a snake pit, where a huge statue of Nagaraja is seen surrounded by small Naga statues. As you proceed further there are statues of Lord Naga while near to them is unique statue of Maha lingam. From here you get to see Amman in standing and sitting pose. Straight is Kanni Vinayagar followed by Lord Muruga, Lord Ayyappa and Jai Hanuman. Aadi month and Thai tamil months have grand celebrations in the temple besides Navarathri.

Said to be revered as 'Muppogathu Amman' (the deity who oversees and ensures fulfilling harvest across seasons) or 'Moopattra Amman' (she who never ages/the virgin goddess who never ages), Muppathamman is the Ishta Devata of thousands of people living in and around Chennai and hailed to be the bestower of boons. A well-connected and well-maintained temple in T.Nagar, one may find this temple on Maharajapuram Santhanam Salai.

It's legendary Amman Temple with divine history. Very popular Amman. Now renovated. Ambience is good. Temple Authority should ensure cleaning the Temple throughout the day. It's dirty all over and with closure of sunlight sources and natural breez, it's stinking all over. Due to the presence snake mound and pouring milk by devotees, periodical cleaning by Temple Authority should be prioritised. The Amman alankaram is very impressive and infuses divine experience to the devotees. Great Temple. Great divinity. Great divine experience. Jai Maata Muppathamman. Jai Shree Ram.

1)One of the oldest temples in T. Nagar area and for some devotees it is "kula deivam". 2)At present besides the main deity Muppathu Amman, Ganesha, Muruga, Ayyappa, Anjaneya and Navagraha sannadhi are there. 3)Month of Aadi is annual festival. 4)A peaceful and serene temple in the crowded T. Nagar area.
