Week 212 - Sri Devi Kathyayanii Ambal Samedha Sri Jalakandeswarar Temple, IIT Madras Campus, Adyar, ChennaiA beautiful Shiva temple in a serene environment and away from the city disturbances within the IIT campus premises surrounded by lush greenery. Sri Jalakandeswarar apparently was recovered from earth while during civil work evacuation when infrastructural developments happened here in early fifties. So it is said to be a 300 to 400years old tenple. An excellent place to meditate and get the blessings of Lord Shiva. The temple Kumbhabhishekam was performed by none other than Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal along with Sri Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal from the Kanchi Kamakoti madam in 2014.Occasionally one can sight deer coming closer to the temple premises and people do try to feed it. Along with sivan temple there are separate Sannidhi gor lord Rama, Krishna, Hanuman and Ayyappan. Navagraha Sannidhi can also present. Absolutely a peaceful place for quite contemplation and meditation and a must to visit temple for people in Chennai.

Nice, calm temple. Inside the IIT Campus, hence written permission required. Wild and not so wild animals in their natural habitat is an added attraction.

A divine place amidst Sylvan beauty .Not many in Chennai have had the luck to have worshipped here.Saint Appaiah DEEKSHITHAR is said to have been the driving force for consecrating the LINGAM which was formerly submerged in a lake “ Vedashroni” .The name has gotten transformed into VELACHERI today. Deers roam around as you worship quietly in this temple. I long to pray here as much as possible. Goddess Kathyayini Lord Ganesha Hanuman Ayyappan & Navagraha , all have their sannidhis here . I wish you be blessed to have Darshan soon 🙏

One of the best Shiva temples have known in the Adyar area since my school days...Goddess Karthiyayini and Lord Jalakanteshwarar sit majestically in the midst of deers and forest greenary in IIT. An excellent place to meditate and get the blessings of Lord Shiva. The temple Kumbhabhishekam was performed by none other than Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal along with Sri Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal in 2014. Come and visit and be blessed with bountiful blessings of the Lord & Goddess.

At IIT Madras, Chennai in the serene environment and away from the city disturbances, this is a nice and good Shiva temple, with Goddess Devi Kathyayanii, Navagrahas, Kalabhairavar, Hanuman, Krishna and Rama-Sita Vigrahas in one place, with all the festivals and rituals followed regularly. Evening there are school children's learn Vedas from a learned Vedic scholar. Inside the campus there is Durga Peeliamman temple and Lord Vinayaka temple.
