Tamils revere the former CM of Tamilnadu J Jayalalithaa. She was fondly known as "Amma" (translates to mother in English) by her party members. She was the leader of her political party AIADMK at the time of her death. This is her memorial. Thousands still come to visit her memorial every week. I visited this place pre-pandemic around the time of her passing away. The place has been spruced up with a nice memorial structure, etc. This site and its adjoining site has the memorial of 4 Dravidian Chief Ministers, who are stalwarts in their own merit.

A fitting memorial for the late Puratchi Thalaivi Amma. The memorial stands out among all the structures in the area. It is spacious neat and well maintained. It will surely keep the memory of the legacy Amma left behind. A well deserved memorial. A must see place for all those who visit Chennai. There is overwhelming crowd here in the weekends. If you consider your safety in the pandemic situation, better visit on weekdays.

A person called Puratchi Thalaivi Amma by all people is Dr. J. Jayalalitha avargal. Such a great human and having good hearted person. Simply "Irumbu mangai". Jayalalithaa first came into prominence as a leading film actress in the mid-1960s. Though she had entered the profession reluctantly, upon the urging of her mother to support the family, Jayalalithaa worked prolifically. She appeared in 140 films between 1961 and 1980, primarily in the tamil, telugu and kannadalanguages. Jayalalithaa received praise for her versatility as an actress and for her dancing skills, earning the sobriquet "Queen of Tamil Cinema".  Among her frequent co-stars was M. G. Ramachandran popularly known as 'M.G.R.', a Tamil cultural icon who leveraged his immense popularity with the masses into a successful political career. She always says that "மக்களால் நான்... மக்களுக்காகவே நான்...." such a great human being... His sudden death is not accepted by people till now and her death is still a big question mark.... But as a person she won billion of billon peoples heart.... So people use to call AMMA.

The museum was built in memory of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and it showcases her life and political career. It is located near the Marina Beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The museum displays personal belongings, photographs, and other memorabilia related to Jayalalithaa's life. It is a popular tourist attraction in Chennai, especially for her followers and admirers. She’s the one who played a major role towards women empowerment in Tamil Nadu.
