Puducherry Museum has a vast collection of items like the weapons used in the early days, stone cut pillars, coin collections, a history timeline, antique furniture, plates, pots etc. They have an exhibit of different types of stones and sand. The have an old fashioned car, bullock cart and palanquin. They have varieties of statues too. The entry fee for the museum is 10 rupees which is very cheap. There is nothing extraordinary here. But if you have half an hour on your free day spend, you can definitely visit this place.

It is located right in the heart of White Town. Even the building is an old piece of French architecture. Entry ticket was Rs.20 and not 1$. The museum had some very old coins, arms and artifacts which can be enjoyed by history lovers. It is open from 9 to 6.30 PM and remains closed on Mondays and Public holidays. Photography inside is not allowed.

I visited this Museum during my Pondicherry trip on a weekday. There were hardly any other people. The entry fee is very minimal. If you are a history buff, you will get to know the history of Pondicherry. Apart from that, there are different sections - coins, idols, paintings, weapons etc. Photography is prohibited inside the museum. Overall, a decent visit. It can be covered within less than an hour.

Good museum with a decent collection of items and nominal entry fee. You can spend some quality time getting to know about the history of Puducherry and how it has evolved over time. They have coins, weapons, statues, cars, stones, fossils. A must visit in Pondicherry. The painting gallery was my favourite, definitely check it out. I wish photography was allowed because there was a painting I really liked of the ships at sea.

One of the best places I would definitely recommend to everyone who visits Pondicherry for the first time. You will learn a lot about the history of Pondicherry, and the lifestyle of French people. A lot of interesting art, sculptures, coins and war materials are displayed here. Well maintained place. No photography allowed inside but you can take some in the garden space. Kids will love this place if they are interested in history and art .

A very small museum with 10 rupees entry for adults. Its got some ancient civilisation ruins like coins, arrows, cart, swords, mirror, piano, different type of stones found across, printing press and others. Photography is not allowed inside the museum. Its near to the rock beach and can be covered in 10 minutes both ground and 1st floor. Adjacent to it there is a library which is very big enough and you see a lot of folks in reading papers and books. There is also a park opposite side which is calm and peaceful.

Great place to learn about History of Pondicherry. Various historical items are also in display. Dedicated section for various minerals and ores is also appreciable. Located in heart of White-Town, next to Bharthi Park. Few sections need refresh and cleaning. There is separate room/hall which display portraits and paintings of various artists. Overall a good learning place.

Before visiting, i remember this as the museum inaugurated by friend's grandpa! A must visit for all the history buffs and the "want to know it all" peeps when in pondicherry. This museum is a treasure house of all the antiques and artefacts of the bygone french colonial era, when pondicherry was the only fully fortified city in the subcontinent, to the more recently excavated but older arikamedu Roman port site ruins (they don't let you take any photos though!). The sad part is that it's not maintained properly. The belongings of the museum definitely deserve a bigger and better place than where they are currently housed ( includes dupleiss' desk and bed and some really intricate wood carvings of various hindu gods and goddesses). Urge the government to take better care of the treasures this place safeguards.

Good mushes and good collection. French furniture is awesome. French car and palki is also very good. I couldn't understand what is purpose od keeping stones in museum but its ok Ticket price is affordable but they won't allow to capture your memories. I wanted to take pictures of French furniture but no one is allowed to take pics. I thought of not breaking the rule too much.

Puducherry has its own history and to see alot of vintage vehicles and weapons ,the kind of Beautiful mirrors and pottery that the royals used with a short note of the history related to it and a art gallery right next to it , it automatically builds curiosity and interest in people. But , it needs to be maintained and arranged in a better way. Unfortunately clicking pictures here isn't allowed.

Pondicherry, having it's own unique history, I expected more from this museum. But it was a little bit of letdown. It's small and a whole section was just rocks from different parts of the country (mostly Jharkhand). It was still worth it for me as I had visited the archaeological site, Arikamedu in Pondicherry, and some of the findings from the excavation site are kept in this museum. It's very interesting to see items from their old customs like burials and read about their history. Another interesting item I found there was petrified fossil wood, remains of a tree that existed millions of years ago. I was yet to visit a museum with fossils, so this was a first. If you're interested in this, there's also a Fossil Wood Park around Pondicherry; sadly I found about it later. The entry fee is just 10 INR and it's right there in White Town, so you can take a stroll regardless.

The collection features around 140 dolls, all attired wonderfully in colourful dresses and each one carefully labeled. Also often referred to as doll museum, it is a delightful place to visit.

Good artefacts. It's informative in the entrance, but moving along, it becomes just a display of items. Spears were interesting. Old beds, mirrors, tables etc have been preserved. Neatly maintained toilets too. We cannot take photographs inside though.

'The history of the world' chart was a plus. Spent some time reading and following it. Place is a good starting point for the history of pondicherry with many preserved artifacts. Not an elaborate collection like many other museums. But a decent visit, especially for when you have time.

Can be maintained better. Many of the artefacts have had no maintaining at all. I wonder what they do with all the entry fee money that comes their way. Heritage and history is to be preserved and safeguarded not only to earn money. By the way photography is prohibited here.

Puducherry museum was beautiful and I was able to see and learn about the history of so many artifact's and the history of Pondicherry. The only disappointment was I couldn't take pictures inside the museum as it was strictly restricted. Must visit with family and friends.

Very underwhelming. Very few things inside to see. The most interesting parts were the coins and gallery. Rest of the things looked like just the things to fill in. The only reason you should go here is to pass the time until you get your seat in coromandal Cafe.

Camera or photography isn't allowed, so for visitors visiting this place, I'd suggest you to have a sharp memory ;) A museum about all the history related to France period. They have separate sections for separate themes. I specifically liked the coins section. Various kinda old, new coins were there. A perfect place if you're into history and stuff. Do visit once.

Located in the Bharathi Park, Puducherry Museum houses a fantastic collection of sculptures. It has the remains of the archeological findings from the Arikamedu Roman settlement. Bronze sculptures of god and goddess, a wide gathering of temple lamps, handicrafts and art are also kept here. Some specimens of Chola and Pallava art from Puducherry are displayed in the sculpture gallery. Entry fees is INR 10.

You will learn a lot about the history of Pondicherry, and the lifestyle of French people. A lot of interesting art, sculptures, coins and war materials are displayed here. Well maintained place. No photography allowed inside but you can take some in the garden space. Kids will love this place if they are interested in history and art . One of the best places I would definitely recommend to everyone who visits Pondicherry for the first time.

A museum in Pondicherry. Infront of Rajniwas Pondicherry. In white town. Small but very informative museum. Mainly focused on French era memory. This is two floor museum. Ancient and native pondicherry history and other archaeological peaces are also at here. Good location.

The museum was one of a kind and had such great artefacts. Stuff like hand printing machine, typewriter from the old decades etc, they have it all here on display. Grandfather wall pendulum clock was one of the best. It's a treat to the eyes to be able to see the stuff people used in the old days.

😐 This is newly opened park with beach. I was planning to go around the place and my child’s are really enjoyed a lot. Some of the canteens are available with less price but I never tried food due covid fear. So many outside state people are coming and enjoying the holidays in this beach. If you want...
