Good place for a vegetarian food arround this locality

Good location, spacious and functional seating, the wooden table and chair has a kind of charm. Pure vegetarian with a mix of South /North indian fares with Chinese thrown in like most places. Pricing average, taste, quality and quantity acceptable. Service good.

We went for breakfast by 8.30 a.m after visiting kapaleeshwarar temple ..idli vadai served with coconut chutney tomato chutney sambhar and idli podi.. Ordered poori and potato on request they served vadacurry for this ... The mini tiffen quantity is also sufficient They serve thulsai infused drinking water..food is very tasty and service is very good ..the staff are friendly and courteous..the Restaurant has parking for 4 wheeler and 2 wheelers adjacent to the restaurant..

Namma Veedu Vasant Bhavan located at South Mada Street of Mylapore close to the Temple and Hotel Karpagam serves classic South Indian cuisine. It is quite popular. The staff are helpful and courteous. We visit regularly and also carry take-aways to enjoy their South Indian Thali, Idli-Vada, Dosas, Pongal and many more with Chatney and Sambar. Their dishes are delicious and mouthwatering. Reasonably priced, is a pleasure to visit.

Very nice place to have some traditional dishes. We were visiting the city and didnt know any place. We found this on our way to the temple and it was a very good choice. We tasted onion bajji, chola poori, samosasand vadai and all of them were tasty. Even though the staff don't speak English it is easy to recognise the dishes in the pictures of the menu.

Don't go in the black hole hours between 11:00 and 11:30. Even part of the things that the menu says are available aren't. Had a Rava Masala Dosa which was quite good. Also the chutneys and sambar. Just which the service was on par.

We went for an early dinner. Around 6.45 pm. They did not have chaat. So we ordered a Veg clear soup for my toddler (with specific instructions to include sufficient vegetables) and a Chola Poori. Veg clear soup was just water with a total of 2 spoons of vegetables Chola Poori was flat when it came to my table. The waiter said while bringing it, it became flat. There were two very small cups of Chole and it tasted like they had put pieces of channa inside sambar! If you can’t provide good quality food then please do not add it to your cuisine. Very disappointed!

I had been here quite a few times for breakfast, Vasanta Bhavan, Mylapore has the best Mini Tiffin in the surrounding. THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY - MINI TIFFIN. There has been a few hiccups in the past, but lately it has been just getting better. The service is just excellent, I had always been welcomed with a smile. Almost always, I prefer to be served by Rajan (from the photo). This guy here will always welcome me with a pleasant smile even as I enter the restaurant. This time, I had in mind that I have to get in touch with the owner itself (not the restaurant manager) to give some personal credits for the quality food and give deserving credits to Rajan, by which time Rajan came nearby me and said "Sir can you write a review in Google". I said ok and here it is. Thank you Rajan and VB.

The food was amazing. But the way servers treat you will make you think that you are in a wrong place. I am 100% sure that you will get "yuck" when you see their plates. The plates are white with a full of yucks on it. Again i am very much impessed by their food taste, but cleanliness is not on their menu.

Very Very poor customer service. Ordered soup and they said soup not available then ordered paneer tikka instead of soup but bringing soup🤦‍♀️ we said we can't take both so please cancel paneer tikka but they refused because of the price, finally they canceled soup and taken back.. we ordered main course as well and waited for more than 45 mins but nothing on the table... after long long wait main course came when we asked about starter they said paneer not available that also we accepted and canceled the starter.. after we finished dinner they again coming back and informing us your starter is ready🤦‍♀️ who will have starter after the dinner???? very very poor service and they can't manage multiple orders..... This is most important... at the end we ordered parcel of one set of chapati.. we got bill and we paid. When i try to cross verify the bill the waiter asked for bill and he went... we thought it's just a bill and left the place, but when we came home we saw there were 2 sets of chapati... customers are not fools.. i have been here from my childhood days but from now onwards I will never visit this restaurant and won't refer this place to my friends and family Thank you for your service and unforgettable experience🙏

Loved the new look. Very tastefully done. Food was as expected and wonderful. The washrooms could use a regular cleaner. Felt a bit out of line.

They gave us dirty plate saying it's the stain from banana leaf. Hygiene is first anything next. Will never recommend this place.

Good food good taste..need to visit more to try various items..can have snacks separate section as it is a crowded area where people look for snacks in the evenings with good taste and hygiene...

Went to the restaurant with high expectation. But we felt so disappointed. Food taste is not to our expectation. Ordered veg pulao, chapati and parotta, veg pulao tasted sweet. Chapati kuruma also the same.

We ordered few varieties of dinner items. Taste was average. Side dishes provided for “Set Dosa” and Vadacurry is less in quantity. You can’t even finish eating one dosai in that. We ordered it thru online delivery partners. Ended up in finishing the remaining dosai using “Sugar”. They should consider providing additional side dishes like sambar or more quality of Vadacurry. Price is higher, but quantity is less.

I'll say it is best vegetarian hotel which worth for our money. There is no any minus seen in this restuarant. Clean and hygienic. Staffs are very warm welcoming customer. Best branch of Vasantha bhavn

This is pretty close to my office and I visit it at least twice to thrice a week for breakfast or lunch. Overpriced is an understatement. But it's almost always free and the service is impeccable. They have ac and non AC dining options.

Vasanta bhavan is well known place but definitely falls short of expectations by a mile. I had Kara kuzhi paniyaram. It was cold (definitely not fresh) and tasted okay. The sambar was hot and had a good taste. The three chutneys were okay okay. Definitely need to improve a lot.

Nostalgic. The hotel reminds me of childhood days when the hotel was Karpagam. Interiors are great, service is appreciable and food was delicious. Kudos to the management. Definitely recommend.

You will find the most genuine coffee with an emphasis on authenticity. The food offerings are of a moderate quality, providing a satisfactory dining experience.

Visited for dinner with great expectations. Ordered Rava dosa, Ghee dosa and masala dosa. Highly priced but pathetic taste. Rava dosa was not cooked properly. Sambar and coconut chutney were tasteless. Would never visit again. Ratna coffee which is closeby tasted very good when compared to this hyped restaurant.

Good location in Mylapore...But pricing is exhorbitant...ordinary tea costs 43/ not worth and so are other dishes..Kothu porotta cvv ists 140/..

Nice but how do you stand out from the crowd??? The roadside dosas, etc taste just as good. Service super slow which was strange. Attendants were nice though.

I’ve arranged lunch for 40 people, Manager, Mr Jyothi was good in explaining the menu, options, and the limitations, it was helpful in our planning. Lunch was really good, and all guests were happy. Thank you for the service. One suggestion is that sweet as well as payasam shall be mandatory in Rs 350 ilay meals.

Big place. We had idlis for light dinner. They gave dessert as complimentary dish. The atmosphere was okay, some parts of the restaurant could have been cleaner and dry, than dirty and wet, for example the side of the hotel, near the compound wall 🧱, is visible from inside the hotel because of big open doors in the hotel and from some of the tables you have a bad view 😞 Not exactly aesthetic while eating

My family and I are from South Africa and this restaurant came highly recommended. It’s seems very quaint and empty, but don’t let the setting deceive you. The food, the coffee and the service was amazing. Highly recommend the Karupatti coffee. And Veeramanni was a wonderful server.

It has one of the best ambience , hygiene and a great choice for vegetarian option in the locality. We have meals here for our luncheon most days here and they are consistent. Great service and the quality , pricing are on point and are a value for money. An underrated restaurant in the Mylapore locality.
