One of the places in Chennai, where they offer you the Bigggg Thali!!!💥 Known as “Bahubali Thali”💯 There is also a Biryani Thali available, but still went for Bahubali. I visited this place for the 2nd time in a span of 3 years. So, if you are going to have any of the 2 Thali, do call them the day before you visit this place. Reservation is must for Thali!!!📞 And, they will allow only 4 per Thali (that is less than or equal to 4) But, I reserved for Thali in the morning of my visit, as we were not sure of the plan till morning. So, they will allow you till morning for reservation. Usually more crowded during weekends. Restaurant Experience: The Restaurant is located on the 1st floor, above the Eatza Pizza. Ample space for Parking.🚘🚘 They have an elevator.🛗♿ Good Ambience, which will give you a feel of Chettinad, because of the picture they have imprinted on their walls.🖼️ Restroom is better, but still the tap is not fixed.🚻 Preferred not to sit in the Sofas while having Thali because it was not comfortable for me. There are also chairs available. I prefer sitting in the chair.💺 They too have the kids area near their reception, which is sometimes converted to Party hall.🎉🎊 Food Experience: They are offering more than 50 items in a huge plate. Must wait for 10-15 mins for the food to arrive.💤 Here are some that I have listed: Mutton Soup Chicken Soup Mutton Kola Urundai Chicken 65 Chilli Chicken wings Chicken Lollypop Prawns Vanjiram Fry - 1 Nethili Fry Sura Puttu Omlet - 1 Egg Podimas Boiled Egg - 1 Parota - 2 Chappathi - 2 Naan - 4 Mutton Biryani Chicken Biryani Onion Raitha Kathrika Kootu Noodles Fried Rice Mutton Masala Chicken Masala Chicken Chettinad Normal Rice - 2 Curd Rice Vadagam Rasam Sambar Dal Vathha Kolambu Curd Moor Kolambu Valakai Poriyal Gulab Jamun - 4 I might have missed some… More items but less quantity… Only 4 average eating people can finish the Thali. 3 Good Eaters can also finish the entire Thali. 1 person eating a separate Thali is not preferable. They are charging Rs.2100 for this Thali.🤑🤑🤑🤑 Last time when I visited this place in 2018-19, the charges were Rs.1700. Now, they have increased the rate as well as their menu. All food items tasted good. Even, when you are not able to finish the entire food, do get a parcel… They will give you only a single packet, in which you can parcel any leftovers.

Went for Sunday lunch luckily reached around 12:15 so restaurant was decently occupied we left around 12:45 and it was almost getting full . We tried egg biryani, veg biryani and mutton sukka . Good food way of serving was good . Portion size was good for price . Staff was always available to help . Ambience is like a very regular restaurant but on walls they have some old days utensil to show like coconut scrapper , brass steamer etc.. nice place for some good Tamil style food.

Taste is good, but expecting more with price range. As the price is increased. The veg items are also added, it would be good if non veg starters are provided instead of veg. Or atleast make it optional for veg and non veg based selection. Methili fish is good among all, but big fish fry piece is not upto the mark. If moderate and above eating capacity people then 2 person are enough for single thali. For less eating people 4 can take. Now the cost of thali is 2100 rs. The hotel is located on first floor.

Ponnusamy Hotel serves tasty Non vegetarian Meals with highlight of keera kootu and chicken curry. Then their vanjaram fry, brain fry and nattu kozhi kozhambu worth to be tasted. Their play area needs maintenance. Their customer service was excellent. Overall the visit was nice.

Ambience is acceptable. Though poorly maintained. The food was of very very poor quality. The chicken biriyani tasted more like tomato rice. The tangri kebab was undercooked. When we complained regarding the same, the manager said it was well done. Either he hasn't had the dish or he was arrogant. We had asked hot water to drink. That tasted of masala coz the cups weren't washed properly. Over all, we were disappointed to take our guests there and will definitely tell friends not to visit the place.

Bahubali Thali @ Ponnusamy Hotel of Chennai – South India’s biggest Thali meals with 44-inch size steel serving plate containing, 50 non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes, which include 1 Soup, 3 Biryani, Fried rice, Noodles, different types of rice main dishes, chicken, mutton, sura puttu, Prawns, Omlette, Parotta, …with authentic South Indian style food. Cost Rs2600/- 4 person will share it sufficiently. A must try at least once where one can taste 50 plus dishes in a si gle time. Week ends are normally crowded. Ambience, Hygiene, care for customer are fabulous. Nicely cut Banana leaf in banana leaf model steel plate for all. This hotel started in 1954 as a small mess in Chennai. The Ponnusamy hotel prepared Chettinad dishes where food was prepared under his strict supervision who himself is an excellent cook.  All the recipes, including the ones that are used till date are known to be his inventions. In no time the name and taste spread like a wildfire all over Chennai.

We usually prefer here for having lunch (meals) when we go near by this location. The food quality is really good and authentic. We went here for food to my 2 yr old son and requested for some favour to get some specific item which they offered. The staffs were very kind and cooperative. Their biriyani and tandoori starters are good. They also have small space for kids to play around but this should be improved much better so that customer can use this.

Went to try their bahubali meals. Cost about INR 2600 for per thali set. About 3-4 pe6can share the thali. In my opinion , the thali set is not worth the price. The non-veg item are too little and frankly does not worth the price. Better order separately and eat what you want

Visited Nungambakkam branch on 19/09/2021. Ordered Bahubali thali. Didn't meet the expectations. Salt is very less in every item. Vanjaram fish is very worst left it out. Very few items are ok rest all are not tasty. Good for two adults. For 4 people it is not at all sufficient. Not worth for 2100 rs.

Not the best restaurant. They didn’t had veg buriyani, grape juice, goli soda, idiyappam - half of the item not on the menu. Came with wrong bill to our table. They said no straw for lemon soda. The ambience was not okie at all (May be due to construction) food was oily - Brian fry is good (only item was okie). Mutton chunks and bone soup was very spicy.

Nice place but taste not upto the mark. Can be improved. We had bahubali thali. So many items were finished so they replaced them with some other items... Eventually we ended up having double quantity of each item.

Visited for 50 items babhubali thali. The waiting period is high. Actually there is no enthusiasm from staff in serving their special dish. Reach by 12:30 if u want your thali be served by 1:30 PM. Half the items are good and other half are average. Now the price is 2500 plus 5% GST. Felt the thali is worth around 1500.

Visited on Jan-30th noon. I wrote this review, when I was waiting in the Hotel for my pre-ordered lunch, Too much hype for the Bhahuballi thali. Even though we pre-ordered it. We Waited for more than 50 minutes to get it. Costly. Quantity is very less. It’s not worth the money and time. Try not to plan with family and kids. If you go with kids, plan and pack some snacks for kids.

OVERRATED! 🥴 Just makes for a good Instagram foodcation! 🧐 I visited the Ponnusamy Hotel & Restaurant with great hope of feeding, along with my friends on the gigantic 'Bahubali Thali.' When two admirable staff members carried it towards our table, the excitement tripled. Finally, when we started treating our palate with different flavours, all our thrill drained away. 3 REASONS WHY THE BAHUBALI THALI IS 'NOT' WORTH IT! 1. The food served in it just for the heck of an abundant appearance is stale, and smelly. I understand that making fresh dishes just for one Thali is a lot of work. So if the hotel takes the dishes prepared in the morning into its serving, it is quite alright. However cold, stale, smelly food from 2-3 days ago is not acceptable. 2. The poultry and seafood items are not properly cooked. As a result, their affect on the stomach is pretty upsetting. 3. The variation in flavour isn't that much. There exists a major overlap between dishes so they might as well reduce items but increase the quality. I truly hope that the quality improves in the near future because most people visit here with a lot of excitement.

Can visit the hotel for Baahubali Thali. Felt the other items on the menu were slightly overpriced. Thali was decent with so many varieties. Most gravies were a tad too much spicy. Can finish the thali if all four are decent eaters, else you are going to end up pushing the food around. We had to wait for more than 45 mins for our thali, which was a bit demanding. Service person were pretty much average, nothing special or extraordinary about them. Will never suggest for a regular visit. Try once Just for the thali. Else it's just overrated.

First of all, the items were too pricy for its quantity. On top of that, they don’t look like they look in the menu. The service was bad. They don’t even serve. Food taste and all was average. Waste of money.

It's good family restaurant for non veg lovers. We tried bahubali talli . Which approx cost abt 2500 plus tax.it can serve upto 4 people The pricing is bit high. Parking is good. Easily locatable. Service was also very generous.

Both positives and negatives. I ordered for maharaja meal along with biryani and non veg meals for my main course. Sides - Kola urundai, Chicken lollipop, Mean varuval. i was told that maharaja meal can be shared only with 2 adults and 2 kids, If we order any main course thali can be shared among 4 adults(not sure whats the concept behind this. Ambience - Was good would rate 5, but the waiting time was too high. Taste: Taste of the served food was awesome, would rate 4 out of 5. Overall: I waited for 1 hour and i was told the order was missed serving ( maharaja meal). All 4 out of 6 customers were sitting without any plate at table no one cared to check and provide the food as needed. It was pathetic experience for a person who had travelled 30Kms just to taste such food. There are multiple south Indian restaurants in chennai who provide better customer experience along with better taste. Kindly have a mindset to wait in long queues, worst customer experience and good food taste at Ponnuswamy

Good experience. Tast - good ambiens- ok, we ordered south indian maharaja thali 50 items - but didn't see goli soda, desserts etc. Don't rush the ppl during the dining instead increase your dine area and servers. 65 years old hotel but still need to improve my things.
