It was weekend so the place was completely booked. They said we only serve buffet. Requested them that I can eat anything. I have been to multiple country and explored the local cuisine. But my daughter and wife are very picky Plus during weekend going out is for a change and chill. But for some reason I thought of looking at other places That's when Neelima called me volunteerly and asked, would you mind sitting in Spectra amd we will serve whatever you order. I was super happy that there are people like Neelima who don't want to lose a single customer. As promised, we were given a table viewing the beautiful broken bridge and beach. She is already giving me an exception and she is giving us the best seat. Food to be honest we didn't know what to order and asked them to suggest. some food was customized since there was a kid, Paneer Tikka was amazing but the Chinese starter was little sweet. Probably it was our mistake that we suggested to make a chilly garlic Chinese starter less spicy. But Neelima and others Prekshta, Painuli were very helpful to remake the dish. We had to insist so much then they did not exchange. otherwise they wanted make another starter. Who does all this now a days especially when you are just 3ppl ordering ala carte. Very impressive customer service. And the smile never disappeared once from their face. For main course ordered Kadai Paneer which comes along with roti Apart from that we ordered masala kulcha. The main course was brilliant especially seeing the sea and spending good time with family. Missed to mention another incident which was again our fault. As soon as you enter, there is a lounge area on the left and we thought Neelima said she will serve food there. The person Ajay did not know the background said we don't serve food here but we have a different menu. By the time Ajay checked and came, Neelima had already gave a table to us. Was feeling bad that I was rude with him and asked him to take back the desserts which he shared before going to speak with Neelima. I went and apologized to Ajay immediately and asked him to add the desserts in the bill. Again he didn't show any emotions but smilingly said, customer comes first for me. Super glad to hear from staff very similar response and they genuinely feel it and you can make the way they talk and serve food. By the way one of the largest buffet I have seen. Took 5,mins only to.check the buffet Food 4/5 Ambience 5/5 Staff 10/5. One of the best well mannered staff I came across Ensure Neelima Ajay and other staff recieves this feedback because they earned it

Visited for Sunday Brunch and although we had a hiccup with the seating initially, we eventually enjoyed the brunch. The place had reasonable crowd even at 12.15pm and we were given the seating either closer to the entrance or to the storeroom or kitchen or whatever that end of the floor comprised of. Totally unacceptable for a brunch which was charged at 4500 INR per head. After an argument, they arranged a proper seating for us. Definitely not an acceptable behavior in a 5-star place like Leela Palace. Coming to the brunch- 1. Lot of lamb and mutton varities were there 2. Grilled lobster and shrimp and lot of fish and seafood were served 3. Sushi - Veg and Non Veg 4. Salads and Mediterranean 5. Very good North and South Indian varieties 6. Varieties of Briyani 7. Dimsim and other items were there 8. Beef and Pork were served too 9. Chaat , live counters like appam and pizza were there 10. Good spread on cheese, salami and breads 11. Very good spread of desserts We opted for alcohol inclusive brunch and we were served, wine, cocktails and rum. Guess unlimited. We also enjoyed their cappuchino at the end of the meal. We spent almost 3.5 hours in the brunch, food was good, tasted nice, and very good service. Mr.Subin - who served us was wonderful. Loved the experience. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely to interact with Food spread: They change their menu for specials and themes which is awesome. We were amused with 5 continent themes Desserts are finger-licking delicious Highly recommended Kudos to entire management

Great spread of buffet.. Delicious food… One of the best views in the city of the seaside and the broken bridge and greenery.. Get a window side if you can for a meal with THE view (but that’s always in demand).. To top it all a great set of team operating the restaurant..

A one of a kind experience at @theleelapalacechennai I had an opportunity to treat myself with the specially curated #aujasyabytheleela which is common across all #theleela @theleela properties. Chef @anshumanbali was the curator @theleelapalacechennai who explained us in detail as to what the menu consists of and the reason behind creating this unique experience which is available even for breakfast and lunch. After starting with Beetroot and Walnut Soup(in the video), I also had Quinoa & Avacado Salad followed my Millet Magic(Entree), Himalayan Red Rice Norwegian Salmon and ending with guilt-free dessert. I must say that both myself and my colleague @prady.e were thoroughly impressed with the menu which was not only healthy but also tasty and fulfilling. If you’re health conscious and want the tasty dishes, #aujasya is the menu you need to go for 😍 Best part is, you get to see all the nutritional contents in the menu :)

Me and my friend had a huge expectation before going here. We were so excited. But to our disappointment it was just average. Did not expect this from leela palace. Their dumplings were amazing. Other dishes were ok. Dessert was also very good. The one thing which irked us was poor service. Also they served tropicana in place of orange juice! We were expecting freshly squeezed 😕. Not worth the price. The review is for sunday brunch. May be it was a bad day for us!

Had breakfast here on 3 days while staying at Leela Palace. Decent variety of food, though it didn’t change much over the 3 days. We liked the ghee thosai, vadai and doughnuts.

Yesterday I went for dinner buffet at Spectra. It is not up to the 5 star standards I would say. They are serving only 2 starters in both veg and non veg. Also they do not have any dishes with mutton and prawns. They only have chicken and fish. Even the biriyani is chicken. That is quite disappointing.. Taste was also not so good. Like out of 20 dishes I would say only 3 to 5 dishes tastes good.. Pizza was very worst. Bottom was fully burned and top layer was also not that tasty. The soups was also not good. One main thing was that none of the main course dishes are hot. Everything is chill. Cost is bit high for the quality and quantity of the dishes they serve. Only good thing is the service.

Leela Palace is full of wonderful memories for me of evening teas with my grandfather. Before he passed away last year, we used to visit Leela atleast once a week. So, I booked the 2021 Christmas Eve buffet to celebrate my parent's wedding anniversary. Worst decision! 1. I had to followup 6 times over phone until someone from the hotel showed any interest in my booking. 2. I visited Leela Palace to pre-book and pay the 50% advance 10 days before the date, and to talk to the restaurant management about special arrangements for my Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary. I requested for a special cake booking at the pastry shop for a sugar-free cake for my diabetic parents and the chef said it could not be done. So I requested atleast a pre-booked specific table, which they had agreed verbally. My mistake for not insisting that the put the special instructions on the receipt. 3. We arrived on time for our booking on the special day, they found our name on their list somewhere near the top as we were one of the first groups to book and make the payment. Our party of 4 was then led to a tiny table next to the dead uncooked fish counter with just 2 chairs and no way for 4 people to sit. They expected us 4 to sit squashed together at the 2 seater table when the table I had pre-booked 10 days in advance was empty just a few feet away. 4. I was so embarrassed by all this especially with my parents and husband waiting for direction from me as they were suprised that these were the arrangements I had made 10 days earlier. I refused to sit down at the 2 seater and pointed at my pre-booked table and asked to be seated. I was stunned when the Leela staff member proceeded to lecture me about the "first come first serve" rule and he made it look like he was doing us a great favour by giving us the empty table that was available and that I was promised at the time of booking. I was absolutely furious with what was going on and felt humiliated in front of my family by the frivolous attitude of the Leela staff member in charge of guest relations and seating. 5. I didn't want to spoil the evening and we settled in, wanting to enjoy the rest of the evening. I escorted my parents around the Christmas buffet while my husband ordered drinks at the table for us. When we returned, my husband was missing. I was absolutely shocked to find that Leela staff had demanded that he go to the entrance of the restaurant to pay the remaining 50% buffet cost before we were even able to take a sip of water, let alone take a bite out of anything. 6. I just could not believe what was going on. I raised it as a major issue and the guest relations chap lied that everyone sitting in the restaurant has prepaid 100%. I know for a fact that he was lying through his teeth, as when we were looking for our names in the booking list print out, 80% of the tables had a comment next to it "Denied to pay advance" , while I had come 10 days ahead of the booking date and paid the 50% requested by Leela palace. 7. The evening just turned so sour and we were just so humiliated by the way Leela palace handled the issue. The serving staff tried to redeem the evening for us. They really tried to be kind and helpful. We are grateful to them for trying their best to turn the terrible evening into something positive. Food was good. Hotel policy, restaurant entrance management and billing processing war genuinely disgusting. We observed through the evening that the foreign guests and non-local guests were treated with respect and even reverence, while us locals, we were treated with disdain and an unwelcoming attitude. Just plain disappointing

We went for weekday lunch buffet. The spread was great with dishes from multi cuisines but the quality wasn't that great. Breads and rolls were fresh and good. Veg soup was too salty. Appetizers were warm. Salads were good. Sushi, chicken nuggets and Tenderloin Stroganoff were the best of the spread. Mutton was so tender and good. Big letdown was Chicken Biriyani, red sauce pasta and gulab jamun. Many desserts were placed but except for 2 items nothing else were impressive. Definitely not worth for the money.

Spectacular Spread. They have the regular buffet for lunch daily and Special ones for Wednesday and Friday dinners. Dont miss the Friday Seafood special dinner. They offer huge range of exotic seafood varieties. Though its got close to 6 different cuisines their Japanese Items Stands out. The Dimsum in Chinese section is a must try. Perfectly made ones.

I was Extremely disappointed with the Sunday dinner buffet at Spectra. The variety and quality is not what is expected of a Leela palace Hotel. Nothing in the buffet was impressive, food was very cold and the chicken biryani was very bad, deserts were good. We had a bad experience. Service was okay. Quality of the food is bad. They are charging around 3,000 which is a total waste of money. These people are getting worse and the quality has gone down now.

Brilliant spread to binge on, the assortment of dishes from different regions of the country and the incredibly amazing flavours. I tried the ragi dosa and chicken curry, the keema Pao, the Indian starters (which unfortunately were average),the mutton biryani (which was lipsmackingly delicious) and ... I didn't have any space left in me, but then I had fruits,l and coffee to close out. And the view from the place was breathtakingly awesome

We had a so-so time. Spectra at night, is an underwhelming experience, stick to the A-MAZING Brunch Buffets. There were a mere sprinkling of customers on a Saturday night, a strict-looking lady in black escorted us to a table, then asked us to sit at an adjacent table while she prepared it. Her ''preparing' was dumping the cutlery in a corner for us to place in the right positions. An unwanted test of our table skills 😏 After that fabulous welcome , she banged drawers, cutlery and bustled noisily around like bad background music, through our meal 🙄 Then came the wait staff assigned to our table, who thank God was super sweet. He found out all the gluten-free options for us, patiently. We had our food brought in time. The standouts were the Mango shrimp salad , the goat cheese salad and the Almond Panacotta. The Vanilla Creme brulee was too cloying in sweetness, one taste and we left the whole thing. Then came the shift change for their staff, as they have a different menu post 11:30 P.M So we were asked at least twice if our plates could be cleared. That was a tad annoying for us as I'm a chatty eater and my sister is a terribly slow one, but we had to speed up our eating 😑. We paid 8000 for the two of us, with an alcoholic drink . In short if it isn't a buffet, I ain't going back.

The restaurant has plenty of options on food. I spent a good 2 hours trying out as much as I could. I don't prefer soups and hence skipped that. The potato balls that they had was an absolute gem. Apart from that I had a chicken and a mutton starter which were equally good. They had around 4 varieties of salads. Also one can mix and match ingredients to come up with a salad of your choice. Moving on, I tried a main course dish in chicken and fish which I didn't go well with me as the other items that I had previously. Not bad ones either. They had a different flavour on Biryani which was not my taste either. The buffet had veg biryani, Matar panner, sambar, cabbage, papad and a lot more on the veg section. I did try a white sauce pasta which was made on demand. It was very nice. Waffle with whipped cream, maple syrup and ice cream was a combination that I tried. Running out of words to describe how good it was. Finally taking the desserts, you name it, they have it. Right from cakes to mousse to cheesecakes to jamuns to a lot more. And the ice creams were not limited to one or two flavours. They had plenty. Indian breads, Fresh juices, hot beverages etc will be prepared on demand which I was not able to try with the amount of food I had already. I don't prefer sushis personally. But it was available on the table as well. The net amount was 5.2k with taxes and I paid 4.1k via Zomato which had a very good offer. This restaurant is basically to cater to people across the globe. So one might not like all the dishes on offer. But you will definitely be able to pick a lot of items from the buffet that your taste buds would crave for.

What I call is the standard global-cuisine buffet... but I will add a bit of staff warmth to the experience; as one of my photos show the enthusiasm of the staff to demonstrate the perfect way to blend the filter coffee - street ishtyle. Missed french toast in the buffet. All in all, if you are staying at the Leela Chennai, chances are you will have the breakfast... In word I shall sum it up... Enjoy :) Excellent restaurant and good food quality.

We tried the Sunday brunch at Spectra for the first time and it did not disappoint. The wide spread of multi-cuisine dishes, the hospitality and the ambience was nothing short of amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the Asian and Italian dishes. If you have a Zomato offer and wish to experience a premium buffet, Spectra is highly recommended.

This holiday season, my family and I had the lunch buffet in Spectra at Leela Palace. We were amazed at the quality of food and service. The cheese board, salads and vegetarian sushi especially were impressive. Desert varieties are good. All in all - the perfect buffet! Staff are attentive, courteous and friendly.

Loved the lunch buffet. Huge spread, multiple cuisines. The paneer and salad section was my favourites. Exquisite flavours. The quality of food is very good as expected. The service is a tad too slow. A ladle took about 15 minutes. But otherwise all good. The view from the restaurant was beautiful and quaint.

The service team really didn’t live upto the expectations. Cold food, uncooked meat and we need to wait for 35 mins to get a GST invoice - This is the state of this restaurant. More importantly, they treat each customer differently. When we asked for Appam / Dosai - we were informed that buffet does not include these items which I can understand. However, we noticed dosas were being served to guests in the same restaurant (which provides only buffets for Friday dinner). Such a discriminatory treatment at Leela’s standards is not acceptable. Definitely not going to recommend this place.

Spectra is among Chennai's finest fine-dining restaurants. Located at the expansive Leela Palace Hotel in MRC Nagar, this restaurant offers unobstructed views of the Bay of Bengal and also the famous Broken Bridge! At night time the lights are amazing and its worth a visit at both day and night times. The food is delightful and offers excellent options A la Carte from Indian, European to Asian cuisines. On Wednesday nights there is usually a sprawling street food buffet, which is so popular among locals that you will need to book in advance for a table. The prices are high, but it merits the quality that is served here. The staff are usually friendly and attentive. Overall you will almost always have a positive experience!

Not so very tasty food. Spread was also limited for the prices they charge. Only deserts were good. Nothing much to boast about in terms of food. This place draws in people purely for the sea side location. Beauty of the Chennai Seas and Adyar creek. Nothing much otherwise.

If you are looking more on Non-Vegetarian, then this is not the place for you. Most of the Non-Veg starters are not good in quality and taste. Needs a lot of improvement on Non-Veg starters. Other than this, everything is highly recommended. Having lots of varieties and covering most of the cuisines. Have lots of varieties in Vegetarian. Good in taste as well. Multiple live counters for main dishes and desserts. First time seeing this much number of desserts. Ambience is perfect for any number of people. Highly Highly recommended for team gatherings.

One of our favourite Sunday brunch options in Chennai. They have a range of food to choose, from sushi to live seafood cooking station, Indian food, dumplings and much more. The desert options are plentiful which after sipping back champagne and eating as much food as you can you’re left feeling totally stuffed and content. We are yet to have a bad experience here. Worth the money every so often. The view is great too!

I stayed in Leela palace (December 2nd week) and visited this restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast and lunch was very nice and the day time staff was very polite and respectful but night dinner was pathetic!!! Night manager (for 19th December) was very behaving rude without showing any respect for customers and he made us wait for 2 hours to get our order!!! It was the same with other customers as well and they were also complaining the same. It’s better if the management teach the night shift manager/bearer on how to behave properly with the customers.

Will not suggest anyone for Spectra since I had a very bad experience in regards to service and cleanliness. The service initially was horrible not worth a 5 star until we had complained to the resturant manager. Secondly the linens spread on the tables were torn. We don't expect this from a 5 start hotel. When told about it the manager, he told they knew about the mistake and after that also they had given us the same table. Lastly to our surprise, in a 5 star category hotel, I always knew orders come properly on table after checking what we have ordered, but in our case we had ordered for 1 Butter naan, 2 garlic naan and 1 lacha paratha whereas we got 1 Butter naan, 1 garlic naan and 2 lacha paratha. When we had informed to them they told mistake might have happened plz adjust. Is this how managers treat guest in a 5 star hotel? Poor service and worst maintenance 😔 Regards Akash Deep Agarwal
