Water water everywhere but no bird life at all

Highly polluted... Drainage left directly to the lake. Government needs to take emergency treatment to stop contamination.. Even this one star is for the wide area the lake covers... Not for the water.

It is really a huge lake in the heart of the chennai metropolitan but many wastes are being deposited along its bank. Its water is used for drinking after some purification.

I cities this type lake is looking good. If our government maintained it properly it will more use people and atomsphere.

Measuring over 100 acres, the lake has different names. Anyone travelling on the Chennai Central–Avadi suburban rail route cannot miss this lake at the Thirumullavoyal railway station. In Ambattur, it is called Ambattur lake. A few hundred metres away from Ambattur, the locals call it Ayapakkam lake and further away, it is called Thirumullavoyal lake. It not only re-charges the water table but also serves as a drinking water source for thousands of residents for many decades now. The idea to convert the lake into a tourist destination will protect the water body from sewage inflows and encroachments,” said S. Vimala, a resident in Thirumullavoyal.

The Lake is not maintained properly. There are grass and small trees are grown in the footpath.
