We have eaten at the Blue Heron Cafe quite a few times and love to share with friends and family how good the bacon jam breakfast burrito is, as well as how much we appreciate the service we receive here. We had breakfast here a couple of days ago and happened to witness a customer who came in and was completely out of line. We watched him take zoomed in photos of the waitress to post here on a review. There are signs everywhere stating to ‘Please Wait to be Seated’, but this man seated himself and then couldn’t fathom why he didn’t get helped right away. The restaurant was slammed and the waitress was serving tables of 10. We were very impressed with the way the waitress handled the man’s complaints, remaining calm and listening but still standing up for herself. We really appreciated how her crew had her back and were glad he was asked to leave after being so unreasonable. That’s the kind of crew we would want to work for and support in business. You guys do an amazing job, thank you!

A surprising gem tucked away at the back of a nice convenience store. Serving locally raised meat (Woods) and locally roasted coffee (Evans Bros) this cafe serves a traditional rural American menu with outstanding views. The food usually comes with large amounts of cheese and/or sauce, aimed at those with a mild palette. Portions are quite large and very filling, extremely mild in flavor. The huge windows look out over the Selkirk Mountains and a small lake. In summer, sit on the patio while your kids play on the large lawn and play structure. The convenience store is definitely above average with locally roasted coffee and grocery items.

As a trucker, it has almost everything I need. Clean restroom, great food in the restaurant, all kinds of things to buy in the store, friendly people, and a small parking lot that's still big enough for my doubles to fit. No showers though and that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. If they had even one shower, it would be an easy 5 star place in my opinion. Diesel is fairly cheap here too compared to your main places like Petro/TA, Loves, and Pilot/Flying J's. Back to the restaurant, they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Can either dine in or get it to go.

OK, I don’t post too many reviews but when my wife & I visited her brother and sister-in-law in Bonners Ferry, they said we would be going to a “gas station” for the best fish and chips ever. We had to agree. Made from fresh cod, a small comes with 6 generous pieces, fries, coleslaw and choice of soup or salad. The cod is lightly breaded, almost a Tempura-like batter and not greasy. Absolutely fantastic! At $16, this is a great deal. The place IS in the backside of a gas station convenience store and is called the Blue Heron Café. Still early September so we were able to dine outside. Very busy with lots of plates served quickly. I hear they have a great prime rib dinner on Saturdays but heading home so won’t be able to try it. Go and enjoy!

RV broke down on our way to Canada. Our 43rd Anniversary. Making the best of it we dined at the Blue Heron Cafe and it was wonderful! The service was great. Super friendly, the Salmon and the steak special were delicious! And the Anniversary dessert of a Brownie Sunday was sooooooooooo good! Stop here even if you don't break down!

A surprise gem of a restaurant tucked behind an otherwise average looking 76 gas station. Enjoy the wetland views of Walsh Lake over a hearty meal. Excellent breakfast burrito. If you like a gooey, savory-n-sweet combo, try the bacon jam condiment, though I personally have a more traditional palate. Friendly staff!

If I had written this review the first time I came here I would have given it a 1. At that time a friend of mine told me “if you like CFS for breakfast you need to go to Blue Herron as it’s the best”. For me I have only had CFS once before that was that bad, along with making me sick for a couple days. That is what I get for listening to someone whose nickname is Trash Panda. Now another friend of mine whose has very good taste told me “you need to try the bacon wrapped meatloaf sandwich”. I thought to myself “anything wrapped in bacon is usually good, and meatloaf hmmm”. Well I would give this sandwich a 10 if google would let me. That is even with Pepper Jack and BBQ sauce on it, which are 2 things I am not a fan of. But all the flavors worked together perfectly. This is a good, messy sandwich. The fries are ok, but the sandwich is perfect.

What you think is just another fuel stop between Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry Idaho, is a hidden gem! The Blue Heron restaurant sits in the back of the station and overlooks a lake and green meadows. You can get the best Prime rib or perhaps you like Fish Fry Fridays! Dont talk to me about deserts. If you have room for any, GET IT!

Just finished eating here a few minutes ago. Had the fish tacos and some soup, both of which were delicious! The service here is great, I had 3 people ask me how I was doing and if I needed anything. Highly recommend this place. Also the aesthetics are good too!

We had the best waitress and the breakfast was very good. Thank you to the waitress that made our morning. She is super friendly and funny from your new friends from Alberta Canada.
