Been a member here for more than 7 years. Prior to COVID it was a 24 hour fitness center, now not only have the hours been reduced but the already HIGH rate has increased after COVID. So they cut the hours back and raised the price… seems legit. Also, the ladies locker bathrooms almost always need attention. The stalls and floors are dirty 80% of the time. I have always loved that there is a cafe, but it too is now super over priced. I no longer buy my protein shakes here after working out, instead I go to Tropical smoothie or stop at the supermarket next door and make them at home. The quality for pricing is ridiculous. The training staff is great. I dislike that they removed the spa services especially for Fairfax doesn’t make much sense. Pool is small and over crowded and when the kids come into the gym to play basketball they leave it a mess and it seems some of them aren’t even members but get in because of their friends daily when you are only allowed two passes a month. It would also be great if someone walked the floors periodically to observe the experience members receive like ensuring there is always sanitizer, sanitizing sprays for machines and wipes available. Also, to be sure that there aren’t people just taking over an area or machine for hours. Very often people leave their stuff by a machine while they are working out at another machine and when you go to it they say they are in between machines and get annoyed with you interrupting their set. One guy literally decided he was going to do pullups over me because I was working out on the tricep pull downs and he just came back from 4 machines in his set. After kicking me in the back I told him he can’t take over the whole area. He got into it with another member that wanted to use equipment he had in his series also. Another member was laying on the crunch machine watching Netflix and after 40 mins I asked if they were almost finished and they said not yet. It’s kind of annoying when no one is watching what’s happening and maintaining a good experience for this 5 star club that costs $200 a month. The toughest workout in the gym apparently is being able to clean the equipment after you use it and put your weights back. The price went up experience down. It’s walking distance to my house and being a member for almost 10 years has kept me here along with the basketball court access, but even now that’s challenging at times and has me thinking of looking for an alternative gym.

I have been a dedicated member of this gym for 16 years, and what I've witnessed recently is nothing short of betrayal to loyal members and extreme greed as Life Time has been engaging in non-stop price gouging. My membership dues have increased from $89 in 2019 to $149 in 2023, over 67% in less than 4 years. 2.5 of those 4 years were during the pandemic. Time and time again, Life Time chooses to take advantage of its long-standing members, displaying a complete lack of loyalty and integrity and increasing dues using meaningless buzzwords like “refreshed spaces and enhanced programming” as an excuse to maximize their margins. Moreover, they frame their messaging of due increases to loyal members as a display of “appreciation” because it’s $40 below the rate of new members. Ridiculous. This kind of greed is simply unacceptable and anyone considering this gym should think twice before becoming a member.

Changing from 5 Star to 1 Star. Look at your trends on Google, dismal. I'm paying $255/mo for my family, $20/mo increase this year. Y'all have taken away the basketball courts to add pickleball to make more money. Tonight at 1730 I went to the compound lift racks, racked all my weights and was kicked off by Risa for her Alpha class. No signs present BTW she just expected everyone to bend to her demands. Upon inquiry, you have to pay to upgrade memberships for Alpha. Y'all run Alpha at the busiest times, consume 12/15 racks, and expect paying patrons to be ok with this so you can make more money. I will be discussing this with corporate. Risa ruined the end of my compound lift routine. Other patrons on the floor were equally unhappy with the racks being taken up for Alpha. If y'all want to make lifetime a pay for everything experience, then do that and cut my rates, otherwise I won't be moving in the future for equipment I'm entitled to for the insanely high prices I'm paying for lifetime.

Decent gym, though Centreville is better (size, layout, equipment offerings, classroom size). Front desk staff is attentive but machines are not well kept. The "consistent cleaning" by staff is non existent. Many machines you walk up to whether cardio or weights look filthy.

ive been a member of this location since it first opened. i believe its the first location in virginia. i agree with the last review about the price gouging. my membership was like 99$ (i believe?) but recently raised to around $150. i just received another email yesterday- telling me my rates are going to rise again! the employee who emailed me said it was $20 below new member rates. $20 BELOW NEW MEMBER RATES!?!? over the years, ive seen them renovate 2-3x. my experience hasnt gotten better, its been the same if not worse. i also hate the fact that fairfax and centreville converted their basketball courts to pickleball. so i've been going to reston location because they still have at least 1 bball court. but because of all this, i'm passively looking for a new gym to go to. the cost does not outweigh the reward....

Worst Lifetime in the entire chain and only getting worse... Been a lifetime member for 20 years and not sure why this location refuses to get competent leadership. Can't get massages at this location, took away basketball courts, and now no longer doing kid camps. This location always had the worst and smallest pool. For a brand that wants people to "hang out" there is nothing of any redeeming quality that makes you want to stay past the bare minimum of your workout - not sure why they got rid of LifeSpa. For a place that's constantly doing construction and displacing members, it still looks like the same mediocre setup.

The good: great equipment, clean, plenty of towels and staff is friendly. - the kids club staff is amazing, and they used to do a ton of kids activities like yoga and “sports drills;” sadly that has gone away, even with the increased dues. - They have a solid pit squat now, and the new chest and back machines feel amazing. - Plenty of cardio equipment, can always find an open stairs, even during peak time. The bad: ever increasing dues to pay for renovations that you can’t use. They block off half the weight section for a group fitness class in prime time weekend hours, then steal all of the dumbbells…and of course harass you for getting “too close” to their group. $200 a month for a gym that you can only use half of seems like poor math.

DJ has made the lifetime experience better. Locker room has been so much cleaner in the morning. Lifetime team saved me ton of money today finding my squat shoes and keeping them in the lost and found. All the new workout equiptment is great. Pit shark and free weight back rows and pull downs are so good.

The gym itself comes with all brand new equipments and is super clean. The staff, however, is super rude and disrespectful. It was our first time today and we went to check out the Pilate Studio. Note that the door is wide open, there's no classes going on at the time and it's empty, also there is absolutely no sign noting that the studio is for group classes only. 5 minutes in, this older lady walked in and basically kicked us out, which is totally fine. The issue is that she conducted the message in an extremely rude manner and basically told us to they don't want people to come in and "fool around" straight to our faces. Seriously - FOOL AROUND? If that is not an insult, I don't know what else is. I have never experienced anything similar in any other locations. Extremely disappointed in Life Time. Please do not allow such intolerable behavior from your staff to further damage the gym's reputation any further. It is a really decent gym after all.

Just cancelled my membership today. The dues are becoming incredibly expensive and no effort is made to keep equipment in working order. Planning to join planet fitness when membership expires in 30 days.

Love all Lifetime Gyms. This one has most of it's cardio equipment upstairs. I'd prefer to have additional benches in the dumbbell area. Staff and patrons seem to be friendlier than other LT locations. There's fewer group classes offered than other Lifetime locations although still lots of options are available. Parking is easy at this location considering the parking lot is shared w several retail store, which is convenient for me to workout. Then take care of any shopping needs while there too.

I just re-joined because I love there café in the past I relight 80% on their meals for meal prep and it’s all I ate . They completely got rid of all meals at this location which is heartbreaking because I literally mostly came back to the gym because I like the convenience of the healthy meals that I actually liked . Not to mention that they increase the membership from what I used to pay by over 50% which I find completely bizarre. If you’re going to charge more at least don’t take away the things we like.

Nice facility. Lots of young people in the weight area (can get annoying sometimes cause they like to just hang around and socialize). Also, if you call to cancel, get ready cause they're gonna get a little pushy with you. Other than that, I love this place. There's no better gym out there if you just want nice amenities and to be left the hell alone to do your own workout.

Women's locker room is filthy & unsanitary. Better management has to be incorporated to prevent the outbreak of the viruses. Not worth the membership fee, will definitely cancel.

Taylor is an awesome trainer. So knowledgeable and attentive. Her name should be spelled Tailor the way she tailored a brilliant fitness plan for me. The gym is awesome too.

Lifetime is a great gym if you are really into fitness and you go a lot. I love my gym and almost don't want to tell anyone so they don't come here. The best part though is the employees at this location. They are very caring and not in your business.

I highly recommend Amir who works at the Front Desk. He is very polite. Whenever I need assistance, he gives me an excellent explanation. And thank you for your excellent assistance and hard work.

Great facilities and people, the staff does a great job to be accommodating for your needs. The only complaint is they removed the 24 hour open service from the original plan. A lot if people signed up because it was 24 hours open

I've been a member since they first opened 20+ years ago. Now I will be canceling my membership and signing up with Planet Fitness. Price increases are never-ending at this place. I'm paying $110 now for a single membership when other gyms in the area are in $10-40 range. They waste money on fancy renovations and useless upgrades and services, and don't care about members who just want to come to a gym to work out. This was the best gym in the area 20 years ago and now it is turning into a poorly managed, overcrowded, money-grabbing trap.

There is something for the whole family here. I can zumba, and my kids can shoot around the basketball courts or swim! The staff are all knowledgeable and approachable, which we love. Oh, and there's a cafe with yummy shakes!

My wife has been a member for awhile now. She had such a wonderful experience from fairfax lifetime. Even though it’s a huge gym, Ricky and Amir showed so much professionalism.

It’s a good place in general but like other reviews said, if you have small kids and need to use family room, you will be around all kind of people getting into and using the only bathroom available, it’s despicable. On the other hand in the kids area they are amazing caring. It’s just really bad the familia bathroom

This is a great facility. Clean and the staff is great. Pretty much anything you would want from a health club. Only issue I have is they have recently started to lock the studios in the evening/night. I work two jobs and I am unable to make the early morning or daytime classes that is held in the studios. I normally go at 8pm and would like to use the studios. When I asked the concierge he said they locked it because people were “stealing” equipment and they have “no” cameras. That’s false, they have cameras in both studios, if people are stealing then address them directly. The memberships here are pretty expensive and we should have access to the club’s amenities and equipment during operational hours, we all shouldn’t be denied access because of a couple bad apples…

Big beautiful facility! Awesome open floor plan, spacious and renovated locker room and personal amenities. If you need help, ask for James! He was generous and professional about working out a guest arrangement during my weeklong visit in the area. Thanks!

I've had great experiences at this gym. The gym is clean, there is a wide variety of equipment available as well as a pool. The staff are really friendly. There are many different group fitness classes including core, cycling, strength training, and yoga. Overall it's a great gym!

Very good gym with nice bathrooms and showers but there is no place to just relax in the locker room anymore. The lounge was taken away for "construction" but its just there so they don't have any younger people hanging out in there which I think is completely unfair because they are also paying for the membership and not getting the full experience. My wife and I regularly workout and we have seen that most of the younger people have just resorted to hanging out near the free weights or the machines which can get crowded at times.

If I could leave a zero or negative star review I would. First off I was lied to over email by the membership team saying they had my preferred fitness equipment which was the only reason why I rejoined. I get here and it is nonexistent. Also this place is incredibly tiny and they have redesigned it for the senior citizen community. It looks like a gym at a retirement community. There are barely any treadmills. Mainly fitness studios and pickleball courts. It is not inclusive for the entire age demographic and their fitness goals. The facility also looks like construction site. Lifetime should be ashamed that they have left this location open. It doesn’t meet the lifetime requirements or the lifetime way. Incredibly disappointing and I wish there was a lifetime in Tyson’s. Joined and cancelled this membership in 7 days…

Disappointed that the women's bathroom does not have toilet seat covers. You pay over $100 for a membership and they absolutely have no hygiene standards in place for the women's bathroom. Also the website says they have massage chairs and a cold plunge but they do not. Unacceptable
