I know this place doesn't "need" my positive review because everyone knows this place is great, so instead I'm gonna tell you exactly what you should be ordering. I'm not a big breakfast food person. and typically I like to order something different whenever I go to a spot multiple times. but Heat Da Spot is my exception to all of that. I'm waiting for the day when they just see my face and ring me up because I order the same exact thing every time. get the hash brown breakfast sandwich with sausage. the sandwich uses hash browns in place of the bread (!!!). then put the green sauce all on it, because if you don't eat your food with the green sauce, what's the point? and ALSO, you order a blackberry lavender iced tea to go with it. this combo just hits every spot that needs to be hit. go order it and have no regrets (just have several napkins ready).

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I absolutely love it. I love the food. I love the teas there, especially the raspberry sweet tea which is the best tasting tea that I’ve had in my life. Heat Da Spot is officially my FAVORITE restaurant in the whole area.

I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite breakfast spots anywhere in the country, if not my favorite, in terms of food taste! I ordered the Ethiopian style breakfast, and it was nothing short of just amazing. If you add their secret sauce to it, then it really even enhances the flavor! I have not tried the rest of their menu yet, but this one item is enough for me to rave about this place! The decor is very family-owned like. There may not be a space in the store where you can sit down at a table with another person because the space is tiny. Instead, you can utilize the coffee table with a houndstooth chair, or the window area. The place also tends to get cold when the weather is cold, so if that is the case, dress warm! And buy one or more of their green sauces!

Amazing amazing amazing! Saw this place on Strictly Dumpling on YouTube and we knew we HAD to try it on our trip to DC! The owners are TRULY the best! Incredibly friendly, very attentive and checked on us multiple times to make sure we were doing well. We tried 3 on their Ethiopian breakfast dishes and were blown away by the flavors. The Injura was the star of the show though! The bread/utensil/'food sponge' was delicious and a major part of the experience. Make sure to try plenty of the special green sauce. A short walk from multiple metro stops so very easy to travel to! Will be a stop every time we are in the city!

Typed in brunch in DC on a Sunday morning and this spot came up. It's a great Ethiopian cafe that serves delicious breakfast. We had a breakfast bagel and sandwich, which were plenty for food. Also ordered the golden latte. The atmosphere is very eclectic with outside seating and soft seating inside.

Never seen a bad review of this place and rightfully so! The food is so delicious and you feel completely at home. A quirky and very comfortable neighborhood spot that is super affordable and fantastic for brunch. The menu is all over the walls so prepare to be overwhelmed if it’s your first time but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

So friendly, really enjoyed this restaurant! We decided next time we visit DC, we will come here everyday for coffee and breakfast. The service is above and beyond compared to other restaurants. The food is cooked fresh and delicious. Wonderful coffees and smoothies. They have prepackaged treats and fresh fruits, etc., as well. No public restroom when we stopped in, though. We sat inside once on a rainy day, and outside once on a nice day. Both were happy experiences -- I love the furniture inside the café!

A very satisfying (while also heavy) meal, see photo: I ordered a customized plate per my request of omelette with beef dish. The beef was so tasty! I am not (yet) an injera fan, so I took it home alongside some leftovers. The green smoothie was refreshing. And yes, the green secret sauce (in a bottle provided alongside the dish) was a perfect pairing to the meal, it’s garlicky! The lady who attended me at that time was so kind and welcoming. Quite unique interior design, but a bit too cluttery for my taste. I also ordered capuccino to go to keep me company while walking back home.

One of the best breakfast/brunch cafés DC has to offer. Family owned business, with great service and amazing food. If you are looking for traditional tasty Ethiopian bites or an all American breakfast, this is the place to go.

As soon you talk to the people working here when you walk in, you know why this place is a gem. I was greeted warmly. When I told her I had rode 2.5 hours on my OneWheel to check out their famous food, she responded by giving me my coffee for free. When I insisted to pay for it, she refused! :) Super classy and genuine people. I asked for a recommendation for my first visit and she told me to try the veggie platter with the beef tibs. I was not disappointed in the least. The platter was incredible, I inhaled the generous portions of lentils, beets, cabbage, spinach, and potatoes in minutes it seemed like. Really the best Ethiopian food I've ever had.. Highly recommended.

This place was a big surprise in our trip to DC. The Ethiopian coffee is EXQUISITE!! We tried the Ethiopian breakfast for first time and it was delicious. But the best of the best it was the attention, Benny and her sister were super kind and attentive. They come to our table to met us. The parents are the cooks. It’s a business made it with love and family values. The decoration is really cool too.

The food was so delicious, we really enjoyed it to the last bite! People were so friendly and helpful, they helped us and were so kind. They even gave my dog a turkey bacon so he would feel welcome😅! We love it and we will go back differently!

Heat da spot is hands down my favorite restaurant in DC!! Not only is the food delicious (green sauce is the boss), but it’s owned by the kindest people who treat everyone like family ❤️ It’s impossible to be in a bad mood here—the positive energy and love put into the food are so special! The Ethiopian style breakfast is incredible, and everything on the menu is clearly fresh and homemade. We love the green chai latte and all their drinks. You can’t go wrong!

I loved this cozy intimate cafe. Its location makes it accessible by all ways of travel, there is outside and inside seating but ate inside since it was a snowy day. This black family owned business makes sure you are well taken care of no matter what and they always serving with a smile. I had the tips with cabbage, the sausage egg and cheese, and the dipping platter that had spinach, beets, and chick peas. Everything I ate I could taste the love it was made with. It also came out pretty fast as well for those of you who may be a bit of a rush. If you are on Georgia Ave. and need a place to eat. This should be your first stop. I left full and happy. Thanks Heat Da Spot Cafe.

I live near this establishment and have always noted the amount of people who go into Heat Da Spot Cafe. Last week I decided to be one of those people and my only regret is not stepping in sooner. After a painful experience at the dentist that left my gums feeling incredible sore and tender, I wasn’t sure what I could eat without causing more pain to my gums. Luckily, I was able to find the ideal breakfast platter with soft enough foods that helped me recover. The kinche, firfir, and eggs platter was incredibly flavorful and filling. If you haven’t tried it before but are familiar with Tex-mex food, the flavor palette reminds me of chorizo and eggs or chorizo and potatoes. In other words, it’s the right amount of spicy but not too heavy on the spice. If however, you desire a little more spice in your food, the green sauce will be your best friend. I poured it all over my food and it was a pure delicacy. Stop by soon and walk among the crowd of Heat Da Spot converts. In terms of service, they people behind the counter are friendly and helpful! They are so warm and welcoming that even if you don’t intend to stay at the restaurant, their energy pulls you towards staying just a little longer. Ugh, I love this place! Can’t wait to go back

We all thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant!! The staff was so friendly and and hospitable. I really appreciated the pictures of food with prices that were printed on the walls by the register. It is a cozy place. Outside seating is available with sanitizer and bug spray! on the tables. Indoor seating is limited with lovely seating options. Takeout is available as well. Sitting outside was very relaxing. The food arrived quickly and hot. It was very flavorful and tasty and the portions were great! I was surprised to have a nice portion of bacon!! I wasn't sure about the light sprinkling of cayenne on my plate as I don't like spice, but it accented the taste of the food well, and cayenne is good for you! I would definitely return.

The service is amazing, the interior (and menu sprawled all over the walls) is unique and perfectly suited for the actual dishes. We got the Heat Pie Special, bagel breakfast sandwich, homemade soda, and gold latte. Everything was absolutely delicious: sweet and spicy and huge portions. The owners were very friendly and remember your name.

A very unique breakfast spot, with an authentic Ethiopian feel. There are a TON of food choices, which was a bit overwhelming. My boyfriend and I just went with the Ethiopian breakfast. It was delicious! We were able to share it and were both satisfied. The people working were so friendly and you can tell that they are proud to see people happy with their food.

Damn I am so glad I found this place. Whenever I am in the DC area I always go out of my way to find new Ethiopian spots to try and glad I came across this one. I've only been here for breakfast and I've only been here once but the next time I'm in town I will definitely come back. The food had so much flavor and they were a lot of options to choose from and the lady behind the register was so friendly and so knowledgeable and so accommodating it was just really a great experience all in all and the vibe of this place was just very different and I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in town. If you are a fan of Ethiopian food definitely stop by this place I can at least vouch for it for breakfast.

Cheerful neighborhood spot with traditional Ethiopian and also American breakfast food, plus good coffee and chai. Very friendly family. Had the Ethiopian style egg dish, which was good but a bit too salty. But the breakfast croissant with sausage and egg was fantastic, as was the green smoothie. Chai latte was delicious but a tad rich. Same for the gold latte. Good but too sweet. Will be back for sure.

This place has the BEST bacon egg and cheese sandwich that I've ever had! The woman at the counter was extremely friendly and provided great service. I HIGHLY recommend going here, you won't be disappointed! I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.
