The father of my Country Venezuela! 15 years without seeing one, since I came to USA. To me was very emotional and important to stand next to this. Lovely

Since I was a kid at school he was and continues being my hero, larger than life. A great human being, same stature as Washington and other generals in history.. Glad to see a monument in DC.

Every South American should stop by here and pay tribute to one of the greatest man in the world. Specially treasured in the hearts of the Venezuelan citizens.

My first time observing this statue, I was walking through the area, the statue had a group of costumed dancers surrounding it. It was used as a staging area for a cultural event. The event was the 19th Annual Food Festival of the Americas, held across the street at the Museum of the Americas. Enjoyed the event very much.

I visited the Park 3 times during my trip to Bogota and I loved the atmosphere, finding food vendors and more, recommended to spend a pleasant weekend and explore the central area since there are many historical museums around.

Disappointed that this monument and it’s common areas look abandoned and not taken care of 😞

Just off the National Mall are lesser-known, but still important monuments and memorials approved by Congress. An example is the Simon Bolivar Memorial funded by the Venezuelan government. It's one of five "Statues of the Liberators" in the area. Other things to do next to this memorial is the Department of Interior's free New Deal mural tour at 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursday pre-pandemic. Also, the Art Museum of the Americas, the country's oldest museum dedicated to Latin American and Caribbean art, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday free of charge. Their large outdoor sculpture garden is open 24/7.
