What an amazing experience. We traveled from NH because my veteran Marine husband had wanted to visit this museum and we were not disappointed!! Rich in history, lots of very cool exhibits. Only disappointment was dessert storm exhibit wasn't ready yet and he was really hoping to see that ... just means we will have to make a trip back!!

I’ve been all over Europe and this is probably in my top 5 for museums. They take extreme care in preserving artifacts, making learn fun with interactive exhibits and respecting our military. An absolute must!

Beautiful facility all around. Depend on it taking you a couple of hours inside and probably nearly that long outside. The guides within the museum are very helpful and enthusiastic about their jobs. Take the walk and check out the outside monuments as well. You won’t be disappointed. And don’t miss Chesty!

I loved the life-size displays. They had a multitude of rooms displaying the history of the Marines from the revolutionary War to the present. A couple of theaters gave you a feel for the basic training experience. The water color art and s ulptures were awesome.

This is one of the most excellent museums in the country. If you want to learn about Marine Corps history, look no further. Great exhibits. Admission is free. You can also grab something to eat at the Devil Dog Diner and Tun Tavern.

It's a great, very thoughtfully designed museum where you can learn the US history through the history of their military campaigns starting from the revolutionary war and all the way through modern middle east operations (currently under renovation). The building itself has an interesting architecture. It's free, has a spacious parking lot and is family friendly. Interactive elements and documentaries enrich the experience.

I did a search with Google for things to do near me. I am so happy we chose this. It was supposed to rain so it worked out perfect! Only, I didn't expect the museum to be so big! I couldn't get enough. Such a wonderful way to gain a better understanding of what our Marines go through to protect us. I highly recommend you visit this one!

Displaying the history of the Marines from their start to the present day. Walk through the history and experience immersive exhibits. The hall with the timeline of the Marines includes historical events worldwide to help with perspective. The building is clean and beautiful. You can easily spend hours here in the museum. Be sure to check out the film. If you have young children, there is a kids area inside and a playground outside.

Very informative museum with great exhibits. You could spend an hour there briefly understanding the history or you could spend many hours there reading and seeing everything. Some exhibits are more immersive with auditory and visual aids to help you understand the environment or the situation. Highly recommend.

I've been to the museum several times and always enjoy it. I took my husband there on the Marine Corp Birthday and it was so special. It meant so much to my husband to be there with his fellow veterans celebrating their birthday. I couldn't help but be emotional seeing the pride of each and every Marine vet in attendance.

If you are anywhere near Quantico take the time to visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps. It is a beautiful museum with actual aircraft and vehicles as well as weapons and equipment displays with historical explanations. Full sized dioramas help to educate about events and important milestones in Marine Corps history. You are taken through over 245 years of the USMC. Take your family, your friends and your students. You will learn much about the Marine Corps and more importantly our nation's history. There is a rustic restaurant and a gift shop as well.

One of the best museums I have visited so far, which was a pleasant surprise. The layout makes sense and will take you through the eras the Marine Corps has served our nation. Each exhibit is chock full of valuable information and amazing artifacts. Children will especially love the tanks, planes, helicopters, and other military vehicles they have on display here. There’s even two more sections that will be opening within the next year, so definitely stop by if you’re in the area or enjoy military memorabilia.

Amazing! I'm not a Marine, or even military for that matter, although I fully appreciate the sacrifices that have been made. But this museum is a must see for everyone. Extremely well done exhibits done in multiple different ways. Some very powerful with the voices of people who were in the battles. Walk into rooms with recreations of battle voices and sounds with explosions coming from every direction. You can walk through into an amphibious landing vehicle or a troop helicopter. And so much more. The place is huge and very modern. Take the kids, it's really not graphic or scary but drives the message home. And it's free. Don't miss this one!

Such a cool place, we are navy but I think this place is amazing. They have so much information here and a gift shop that has tons of stuff to buy. A restaurant that was pretty good we had fish and chips and a Greek salad. Everything was pretty good. Tons of picture explains what stuff is People there to help with questions it is a double floor establishment, but they have an elevator if you don’t want to climb the stairs or if you can climb the stairs. Love all the history here, we didn’t have time to walk the grounds but those looked amazing as well. We will come back and walk the grounds on another day. You must come check this place out and bring the kids.

Excellent museum, the guides were eager to share their knowledge with those in attendance but weren't pushy about it. The displays are layed out in a nice chronological order of the various time periods that have changed the Marines, however, each area is set off from a main corridor so you can go to a specific era if you want.

The exhibits were well done. You can tell the work that was put into it. I thought the combat environments were great especially for others to get a glimpse into the chaos of war. I was thinking that maybe there would be a warning on the glass, for those with PTSD or kids...but I think it's okay without the warning...I mean, this is what Marines do. I am a big fan of art and I wish there was a way that we could buy original works of the combat artists from the gallery. Please continue to have Marine Corps art displayed. I live it. My favorite thing in the entire museum was the sculpture of the Marine Rifleman with different Marine Corps things coming out of its body. Amazing museum. I intend to make a donation to the museum.

Stopped in to pay homage to my beloved Corps. The Museum is setup with multiple wings that document a didn't Era of the Marine Corps. I can't remember exactly how many wings (era's) there were when I visited but it was very well planned out. The flow was amazing as you progress through history. The displays themselves were legit authentic and very professionally crafted. I've been to a lot of museums in my days and this was top notch. It was nearly 5 years after I hung up the Dress Blues and let me tell ya... I struggled mighty hard to enter the wing dedicated to the modern Era Marines (my era). A flood of emotions rained over me. I cinched down the straps (metaphorically) and entered anyway! It was rough but looking back It helped me heal in an odd way. I don't know why, it just seemed to provide some closure. Nobody can predict when that comes and what will offer it (closure) but I'll tell you it was a honor for this to have occurred here, at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Aside from my pathetic personal story, the rest of the Museum was amazing in every way a Museum can be. I especially enjoyed gra Bing a beer at Tun Tavern. Obviously not the original Tun Tavern buy still fun.

Stunning, beautiful, amazing. I can’t find the right words for this treasure. I was blessed to see the artifacts and hear the stories behind each of them. We could have spent another entire day moving through this museum and still not really see everything. The volunteers/works are fantastic very sweet and willing to share their knowledge.

Wonderful museum! My 5 yr old son absolutely loved it and me being a son of a Marine and a history buff I was very pleased with the displays, the layout of the museum and can’t wait for its completion. Plus the outdoor walking paths were peaceful and beautiful and I’m proud to say my father will have a brick honoring him alongside all the other heroes.

This was my second visit. Still waiting on the new exhibits to open. You see something new every time you go. I Iove the amount of detail and every artifact you can find. They do an awesome job capturing the history and legacy of the Corps. They also have plenty of amenities. This was the first time I noticed the childrens park. It was a very nice outdoor park with plenty of things to do and picnic tables and benches. There was also a exercise area on the hill above the park. Watch out for poison ivy. Remember leaves of three let it be!

A real somber and amazing place to visit. Being a veteran of another branch, but having many family member who are former Marines, it was great. The MPs were very accommodating to my Service Dog In training. There were a bunch of Marines visiting as well, so it added to the experience of seeing the generations of Marines. Overall, it's a must-see for all, regardless of service.. Semper Fi

Plan to spend the day! So much to see, read, and experience (inside and out), you'll probably still have to plan more visits to take it all in. There is the Tun Tavern and a place for burgers to keep you going! And a gift shop with all things Marine. This museum is an amazing tribute honoring the United States Marine Corps. A must-see.

Our visit to The Mariners' Museum and Park in VA was fantastic! Plenty of parking, spotless restrooms, and captivating exhibits made for a memorable experience. The staff's friendliness and expertise enhanced our journey through maritime history. The park's picturesque surroundings provided a tranquil retreat. Notably, the entrance fee is unbelievably reasonable at just $1.00 – making it an absolute must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking an enjoyable day out. Ohh Yaa! The value for the experience is truly remarkable.

Incredible museum, well built, great deal of history and very friendly staff. It is a phenomenal tribute to the Marines that have come before us and the battles and hardships they faced. We visited during the pandemic and even with some of the interactive venues shutdown it was still an incredible visit. There is more being built and I’m very excited to see more!

We went here for a promotion ceremony and I was really surprised that it was as well out together as it was. It’s a beautiful building and the museum looks really nice. We didn’t get to go to the exhibits, but will have to come back for that. The gift shop was big and well stocked. We did visit the little tavern on site for a celebratory drink. Due to Covid, they only let a few people in there at a time - which is good. The service was great, she was very attentive and super nice.

I spent a couple of hours walking around and trying to take it in... It's overwhelming. The sense of honor, respect and the imprint of sacrifice made by those who willingly did so with their lives; is thick in the air... It brought tears to my eyes. It's an honor and privilege to see and experience a piece of what made America one of the most Powerful Nation that has ever existed and it's because of these men/woman. Truly a sight to behold. Thank you America for keeping the legacy of these great and honorable people that knew what courage, integrity, self sacrifice, honor and respect meant. It's the legacy continues with those serving nowadays... Thank you!

The museum is well structured. There's a theatre which displays a video of the Marine Corps history. Upon exiting, you begin the first exhibit. Each one takes you thru a specific time line of events that occurred during a war and conflict. The upper level has a display of artwork created by veterans. The outer grounds has multiple interpretive walking trails

Purchased a brick for my Dad and presented the certificate to him several years ago. Dad passed in 2018, and this was the first time we had the opportunity to visit. The entire walk to locate his brick was humbling, like being at the National Cemetary in DC. Beautiful grounds and the museum requires more than one day to visit.

I go every year for the Marine Corps birthday on Nov. 10th with some of my brothers. It's definitely the best museum I've ever been to. There is plenty of history and things to read about. Tons of real artifacts, and they use real people to model their mannequins. I'm very proud of this museum. A must-see for everyone.

A fitting tribute to the men and women who have served our great country so valiantly for so many years. Whether you have a personal connection to someone who has served in the Corps or not, this is a worthwhile destination to learn about true dedication and service to others. The location near Quantico and the proximity to Washington DC is both meaningful and convenient for travelers.

I love this museum not only because I am a Marine, but because it definitely shows people what the Marine Corps is all about through the history of how it started to present day! I'm not currently in the military but the only saying is Once a Marine Always A Marine! I was in over 20 years ago! But back to the museum, it's free for anyone to get in an enjoy the experience and knowledge about the Marine Corps. If you are in the area of Triangle , Virginia, you definitely need to stop in and see this experience! You won't be disappointed! Semper Fi everyone!

An extremely well laid out and well run museum. The displays are thought out and, most importantly, laid out in a logical and well moving manner. Everything is well marked and sometimes can be seen from multiple angles. The displays flow from one to another in a historical manner that shows the full history of the Marine Corps. Even small details are included. There are some interactive displays, and even a virtual shooting range for an extra fee. Two restaurants feed better than average food. The gift shop has quite a large selection that other museums could learn from. All in all an easy to get into, free, and well run exhibit.

Just happened upon this place during a visit to the area and so glad we stopped. A wonderful tribute to the marine corps and quite a lesson in American history. A great experience for anyone whether old or young. Nearly everyone's lives have been touched by our men and woman that have served our country since its formation and this museum is a beautiful tribute. Architecturally stunning that pictures hardly do it justice. They also have a great little tavern and a cafe. Don't forget to stop by the totally awesome gift shop with a little something for everyone. Thanks to the very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend taking a little trip out of the way to check this place out and strole the remembrance path which is just outside as well.

While in town for the Quantico Mile, my family and I decided to check out the National Museum of the Marine Corps located in Triangle, VA. Pre-pandemic, the museum was open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm except Christmas. There's no admission fee but they accept donations throughout the museum. They have a nice gift shop that sells clothes, glassware, stuffed animals, toys, and more. The museum has two restaurants - Devil Dog Diner and Tun Tavern. I enjoyed learning about Marine Corps history through displays, statues, film, and art. I enjoyed looking at the model planes and art as well as exploring the physical fitness and rifle range area.

World Class and state-of-the-art facility with exhibits and dioramas that display the history of the United States Marine Corps. It's a 120,000-Square-foot facility that uses cutting edge technology in its presentation of many irreplaceable items like the actual flags that were flown after the battle of Iwo Jima. We were very impressed with the museum and the trails outside on the 135 acre compound that have statues and markers of many important events of historical proportions The gift shop is very nice as well. Some exhibits were not open yet like the Desert Shield era.

Was here for a private event after the museum closed to the public. It’s expensive to rent and the food was awful. The chicken was more like a Cornish hen and the salmon was so dry.
