Clean and nice harbour but bad vessel and very slow. Cheap though.

The port is a little run down. Boats to Ometepe cheap but depending on your preference so does vary the comfort level. Be careful to the taxistas trying to charge you gringo price. The ride from/to the bus terminal should be no more than 30 córdobas with the colectivo

In order to get to Ometepe island, you have to take a boat from Puerto San Jorge. The boats appear to run on some what of a regular plan or times. These are more or less old flat bottom boats as the lake is very shallow. Kind of a area where you want to get on the boat and wait. Not a great place to hand around a lot of hustlers selling.

easy enough to get yourself around and purchase transport to Ometepe. There are several taxi operators that can arrange a pickup for you once you arrive on island. easy and cheap at 100 Cordobas per guest each way (1 hour to Moyogalpa)

Strange charges for entry with no receipts when asked for. Men nearly dragging us to "ticket booths"and trying to change us 100 Cordobas. This behaviour should be banned by the port authority. Just pay on the boat not in advance!
