Kalapurka, a bowl of corn soup that smolders with the heat of a volcanic rock from Cerro Rico near Potosi (4000m) Bolivia. (Long before it was the world’s source of silver, the mountain was a volcano.) When the server drops a hot stone inside the earthenware bowl, the soup is transformed into a cauldron of spice and savoriness. A steaming ripple appears in the stone’s wake, and the yellow, corn flour–based broth bubbles inside a colorful ring of ground chili pepper, oregano, ají sauce, and aromatic chachacoma leaves. Potatoes and a savory meat—such as beef jerky or fried pork—soften the spices and add heft to the meal.

Cosy restaurant with excellent food. Try the Kalapurka soup (ask if you don't see it on the menu), a creamy corn soup with meat and vegetables brought bubbling to the table because of the hot volcanic rock at the bottom of the dish. My beef was perfectly cooked and the Flan (?) (a local version of creme caramel) was obviously homemade and vastly superior to the one we available at the otherwise very nice hotel we later went to.

Nice ambiance and delicious food. Just on a corner very near to the main square in Potosi. More expensive than other restaurants but not exorbitant prices.

This is one of the few restaurants in Bolivia I gave a 5 star review. The food, the atmosphere and the service were very well. We ordered Kalapurka, a traditional soup from Potosi. It is a spicy soup with a very hot stone in it. This makes the soup boil and it is a whole experience. We ordered the vegetarian version of it.

This restaurant is a gem in the city of Potosi! Our dinner was fantastic: I had a perfect medium rare steak; my son had spaghetti with fresh basil that was cooked al dente, and my partner had a traditional tomato-based soup with perfectly balanced spices and incredible presentation (a sizzling rock in the middle). The house red wine had nice hints of oak and was delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and tasteful. Our waiter was attentive. The chef came to our table to inquire about particulars before she prepared our food and after to insure we were satisfied. She was super warm and friendly. Highly recommend!

We went in this restaurant to have dinner and it was a great surprise. We ordered a soup and beef for the main dishes. The meat was soft with perfect cooking. We also had ice cream and a flan as a dessert and again everything was very tasty. Eventually, the service was also very good, which is not common in Bolivia. After 2 weeks here in Bolivia, this is the best restaurant we had, really recommended.

Great quality and delicious local dishes and Bolivian wine in a very old building right on the square. Serves lunch and dinner but opening hours not necessarily exact.

Food was okay but very overpriced and the waiter was very rude. Would not recommend.
