Fantastic place to chill in mornings and evenings. Not crowded in mornings. Morning sunlight will make your day. Located near big businesses and institutions of Powai. Cleanliness is properly maintained by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The only drawback is that benches are not available; however, one can comfortably sit on the stairs and other concrete platforms. I would suggest to pay a short visit if you are around this palce.

Great place for an evening. Beautiful path along the lake covered with trees and flowers. Powai Lake (Pronunciation: [pəʋəiː]) is an artificial lake, situated in Mumbai, in the Powai valley, where a Powai village with a cluster of huts existed. The city suburb called Powai shares its name with the lake. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, one of the premier institutions of science and technology in India, is located to the east of the lake.[1] Another famous institution, the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), is also located close to the lake. Housing complexes and plush hotels are developed all around the lake periphery. Population around the lake has thus substantially increased over the years.

It is one of the most beautiful lakes in and around Mumbai/Thane. The lake is full of natural habitats and biodiversity. Despite its exclusiveness, there is a lot of litter scattered around. Which needs to be cleared.

Lets start with the good things here: 1. No entry fee 2. Lots of trees 3. Several seating areas 4. Dam and few good photo spots Bad things: 1. Accessibility- very far from public transport 2. Was disappointed at the entrance itself- didnt feel like a beautifully maintained park, just a regular "govt" park 3. NO DEER- at least I didnt see one, so incorrect nomenclature of deer park 4. No direction boards to guide. 5. Lovers everywhere, like literally everywhere, hiding and cozying up in every nook and corner of the park Now for the scary part- while walking through the jungle area, we didnt feel safe and had to walk back. Saw a dilapidated house and looked in and saw a mentally deranged man sitting there. Not a safe place! Not maintained! Not worth visiting!

A nice place to chillout and enjoy the lake view during early mornings and evenings. You will find people jogging, working out, clicking pictures and relaxing. It is one of the places where you will find many couples here and there. Apart from these you will see greenery every where. There are palm trees in between the ocean. One of the fear factor is there are alligators in the lake hence entering the lake water is not allowed.

Powai Lake is a calm and soothing place to enjoy nature at its best. There are so many luxurious hotels around the periphery of the lake.Powai Lake is an artificial lake and the hills surrounding it make it a nice place to relax.Boat riding facility is also available here which is quite a tranquil experience.Powai Lake Garden is also situated here where one can sit and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings. Here one can spot crocodiles, fisherman,spot-billed duck, small blue kingfisher, white-throated kingfisher, spotted dove,purple-rumped sunbirds, white browned bulbuls, peregrine falcon, woolly-necked stork etc.Wonderful place, and a good place for photography....Morning and Evening very nice place

Powai Lake is beautiful. Many people travel from here less people halt over here. Best time to visit in morning and evening. School and college students are seating here whole time and you can see couple as well. Good place to do some photography as well if you love landscape. Best in monsoon. Be careful don’t go inside the water because of crocodile.

Excellent garden for morning walk, evening walk just beside beautiful Powai lake. You can do your morning pranayam here without any noise, with soothing chores of birds. You can enjoy boating at Powai lake too. Sitting at the bench facing powai lake for 30 minutes, will make your day better.

Wow! It's Amazing the water falls at the park side is outstanding. I thought the lake may filled with waste water and how come I enjoy the scene. But in reality it's far beyond my expectations about Mumbai municipal corporation. The lake and it's neat water and water falls all together is fantastic. Is a place for nature lovers. It's not only the responsibility of municipal corporation but also the people of Mumbai City as well as the visitors like we are also responsible for the cleanliness of the lake and park. Anyway it's awesome to be here. I really love this place. It's nice...

Highly Neglected , Almost 70% of the Lake is Covered in Water Hyacinth . No Cleaning Done coz of which it has become a House of Malarial Mosquitos . Joggers Track has been made around the lake but its now become a Couple Spot , taking children over there is Embarrassing . Still a Go To place to checkout some Serene Beauty of Nature and Relax.

Be at the Lake view point entrance..In terms of Views in the morning time, quite pleasant and good with the sound of lot of birds. The beautiful lake surrounded by high rise buildings gives a nice view. Lot of pigeons every Sunday morning come to take their feed " Chana" which is sold by one of the seller.. Pl bring at least 5kg to feed there are lot pigeons. These pigeons come near your foot when u feed them and surround you. Nice place to visit on Sunday morning ( only at lake view point).

Powai Lake Powai Lake is located downstream of the Vihar Lake on the Mithi River When it was built, the lake had an area of about 2.1 square kilometres (520 acres) and the depth varied from about 3 metres (9.8 ft) (at the periphery) to 12 metres (39 ft) at its deepest. The Powai Lake has gone through many stages of water quality degradation. The lake water which used to supply drinking water for Mumbai has been declared unfit to drink. The lake remains a tourist attraction. Before the lake was built by the British, in 1799 AD, the estate where the lake is now was leased on a yearly rent to Dr. Scott. After his death in 1816, the government took control of the estate in 1826 and leased it to Framaji Kavasji, then the vice-president of the Agricultural and Horticultural Society of Western India[4] after whom the lake was named when it was built in 1891. A stream tributary of the Mithi river, which served the Powai village's water needs, was dammed in 1891, during the British period. It was initially to augment water supply to Bombay city (now called Mumbai), by constructing two dams of 10 m to store the rain water flowing from the lower slopes of the Western Ghats and streams from the eastern and northeastern slopes of hills. It was planned as an antiwater famine measure, to the southeast of Vihar Lake (a much larger lake) also for water supply to Mumbai city. The scheme was taken in hand in 1889. Though it was completed within a year at an initial cost of more than Rs. 6,50,000 and started providing two million gallons of water per day, it had to be abandoned due to the hue and cry against the quality of the water. Five lakhs of rupees more were spent on the scheme in 1919 in an attempt to restore the supply at least for the suburbs but this, too, was given up with the development of the Tansa works. After the drinking water supply objective was abandoned in the early 1890s, in view of poor quality of the water due to pollution, water hyacinth and weeds, untreated sewage and large silt deposit, the lake was leased to the Western India Fishing Association, a quasi government organisation, who used it for fish culture and angling. Later, the Bombay Presidency Angling Association was formed in 1936. In 1955, under the Societies Registration Act 1860, it was registered as the Maharashtra State Angling Association (MSAA) and the lake is now under their control. Realising the gravity of the environmental pollution, the MSAA has revised its constitution "to actively care for, clean, develop, maintain, and beautify the Environment at Powai Lake." MSAA is now involved with removal of water hyacinth infestation supporting research with Fisheries Department for conservation of the Indian mahaseer Panorama of Powai Lake, seen from the campus of IIT Bombay

Manmade lake from the British era is too polluted with sewage to supply drinking water. There have been efforts to restore water quality which is great as it is visited by several bird species and the water is used for recreational activities. The lake overflow during the monsoons flows into the Mithi river.

It's a good place to spend time with Family and Friends. You can get buses easily to reach the place. It's very beautiful and cleanly maintained as well as has good seating arrangement. You can enjoy the dusk without anyone disturbing you as it's not crowded as other lakes or beaches of Mumbai and the crowd is also not rowdy.

This place is a little paradise located in the middle of crowded city, Mumbai. The lake has panoramic view of Aarey jungle, Hiranandani towers & IIT Mumbai. The lake has boating facility as well & it's equipped with jogging track & garden. During monsoon, the scenary of the lake is beyond imagination. If you're visiting or living in Mumbai, this place should be in your top list. There are many good restaurants and pubs are located in the vicinity.

It's very nice place for just chilling and vibing. Great place for walking and a quick jog in the morning. Powai Lake is an artificial lake, situated in Mumbai, in the Powai valley. The city suburb called Powai shares its name with the lake. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, one of the premier institutions of science and technology and one of the most hardest college to get admitted in according to me in India, is located to the east of the lake.Another famous institution, the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), is also located close to the lake. Housing complexes and plush hotels are developed all around the lake periphery. Population around the lake has thus substantially increased over the years. So over all a gr8 place it is. What Is It? A park located on Saki Vihar Road in the IIT area, Powai Gardens may be a popular spot for residents but is definitely an oasis of calm for those who haven’t visited the place. Greenery all around with structures beautifying the place even further, it’s for anyone seeking to block out the city life for a few hours. The expanse of the park is huge and the most endearing thing about this place is its view of the Powai lake. You can perch yourself on a bench and forget about deadlines for a while. You’ll find people chatting, joggers and college students taking time off at this park. It may not be a hidden gem but it’s worth your time, specially if you don’t live in Powai.

The Lake water level was very less even just after the rainy season.. and the pathway around the lake was occupied by couples weary to find a quiet place in the ever crowded Mumbai. Girls would not even feel safe walking in some parts of the walkway.

Unmatched views of the sunset here. The trail is not well maintained and tends to get crowded during the evening hours

Nice place to spend sometime alone. Peaceful. It's not very hygienic. So please don't have such expectations. Also, evenings might be crowded, especially during weekends. Best to plan accordingly. Please don't litter the place.

The place is perfect, one of my favourite spots in the city. If only there were some control over the PDA couples. Other than that, it's great; amazing view of the lake, surrounded by the city's best restaurants, and of course the cool breeze and snack vendors.

It's not quite good for visiting. There is no sufficient water in normal time. Also it is not properly maintained and cleaned. Not kid-friendly at all. Only some couples visit for gossiping I guess. For monsoon season you can visit only. At that time view is too good with more greenery.

This place has a lot of trash inside and around it. The busy Eastern express highway wouldn't let you sit there peacefully because of the non-stop honking sounds. But the silver lining is that you may see a few ducks and occasionally a crocodile here

If you ignore the dust near the lake.. Beautiful place to spend a few hours alone in this place.. i still miss the fried corn 🌽 everyday.. Govt/people need to work on cleaning the lake surroundings. I did what I could. Thank you 😊

Powai Lake dates back to 1799 when the British colonial administration constructed it as a reservoir to supply water to Bombay, the city's former name. Over the years, the lake has become an integral part of Mumbai life. It serves as a vital source of water for the city, quenching the thirst of millions. Beyond its utilitarian function, Powai Lake has become a popular recreational spot. The lush greenery surrounding the lake provides a picturesque setting for picnics, morning walks, and bird watching, attracting nature enthusiasts and tourists alike. Boating facilities allow visitors to immerse themselves in the lake's tranquility while enjoying the scenic views. Powai Lake faces significant threats that endanger its ecological balance. Rapid urbanization and encroachments in the surrounding areas have led to increased pollution and reduced water quality. Industrial and domestic waste, along with untreated sewage, find their way into the lake, posing a threat to aquatic life and the overall ecosystem. Additionally, the diminishing green cover due to urban expansion affects the lake's biodiversity. Environmentalists, NGOs, and local authorities are collaborating to initiate conservation projects, promote waste management, and raise awareness about the lake's significance.
