Timings are 9-6 You need to show your double vaccine certificate for entry. There's no entry fee. Women need to wear clothes that don't show their knee or you're given a cloth to cover up. After you enter you're taken to a guide who asks you to download the app and use it to understand the place better. There's a meditation centre, video hall, photo and painting gallery. The main dome is accessible only from a small part. The place has parks and a lot of trees. Carry your cap as it can be too sunny. There's a cafeteria and food plaza which isn't overpriced but does have rates a bit higher than outside. I went by road from bhayandar took 220 rupees rickshaw. There is bus facility but at interval of 1 hour or more.

Key features of this place: • Great dome • Meditation Hall • Photo Gallery • Library • Auditorium • Garden • Extraordinary architecture • Peaceful place • Shopping gallery • Giant Gong • Sculptures A visit is must if you're really looking for a meaningful way and purpose in your life. Also you have to travel in boat to visit here. That's a great experience. And Gorai Beach is just not more than 3kms from this place. Which is also a tourist attraction and cool place.

A meditation dome situated in the city of Mumbai near Borivali has a beautiful and magnificent stone architecture. It is symbolic of Universal message of peace. The place has a serene peaceful atmosphere with cool breeze passing by. A perfect place for family picnics or with friends. One can have a vegetarian lunch at the nearby restaurants and it also has stalls for refreshments. The place apart from the main dome has a garden where one can sit with a picnic cloth. It also has a gallery where there are books, paintings and things related Buddhism. While travelling from Borivali one should get a ferry ride instead of on road travelling as its a great experience. We can see the top of the pagoda dome, amidst the sunset and water shining gold making the overall experience ethereal. A must visit place for just peaceful vibes and for an architecture which is a treat to eyes.

This pagoda consist of three sub domes, the height of the dome is approximately 29 meters and height of building is 96 meter & became biggest hollow stone monument in the world. The hollow pagoda is a very large meditation hall having capacity of around 8000 people. Such a beautiful and peaceful place. The architecture is magnificent. Felt as if I am in a different country. We can use their app for the guided tour and it makes the experience even better. There is a video hall which briefs us about the making and history of Pagoda then there is a meditation hall right beside it, each session is of 10 min. It's a must visit place in Mumbai! You would feel the peace and beauty of this place once you come here, it's a different kind of feeling.

During my recent evening visit to Pagoda, I was mesmerized by the beauty that unfolded before my eyes. The breathtaking sunset, with its vibrant colors painting the sky, provided a stunning backdrop to the majestic pagoda temple. As the sun gracefully descended, the silhouette of the pagoda stood tall and proud, exuding an aura of tranquility and serenity. Soft lights illuminated the temple grounds, creating a serene ambiance that invited contemplation and reflection. The intricate architectural details, adorned with elaborate carvings and vibrant colors, showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region. Exploring the different sections of the pagoda revealed the meticulous craftsmanship that went into its construction, leaving me in awe of the artistry on display. The visit to Pagoda not only offered a visual feast but also provided a deeper understanding of the local traditions and beliefs. The friendly staff added to the overall experience with their warm hospitality and willingness to share insights. In conclusion, the evening visit to Pagoda was a captivating experience, where nature's beauty, architectural marvels, and cultural significance converged to create an unforgettable journey of enchantment and exploration

Its a beautiful and calm place with cool breeze. As covid restrictions are there and essel world is closed the boriwali jetty was not working. We took the road route to reach there. after dahisar toll take the Mira bhaynder road . Map will lead you. Loved the route as after we took the turn towards Dongri the area is less populated gives the feeling of village side. Gorai beach is nearby. Vipasana center is very nice place for those who love calm place. Beautiful and scenic area. Thers is a small play area for kids with fountain. Garden is well maintained. No visiting or parking cahrges. There is one restaurant and one small cafe also . Food is ok but place is a Must visit.

It is tough to imagine that one of the quietest and most peaceful spaces can exist right in the middle of the busy suburbs of Gorai in Mumbai. The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation hall shaped like a dome with a capacity to seat of 8,000 devotees and Vipassana practitioners. Along with admiring the serenely mesmerizing Pagoda located on a peninsula between Gorai creek and the Arabian Sea. Another interesting facet of the monument is that it has been completely through donations. Visitors can take a short 10-minute Aanapana Meditation session to experience how invaluable the technique of meditation is and then decide if they want to enrol for a long term course. No matter what the verdict is, a trip to the Global Pagoda will be worthwhile. The Global Vipassana Pagoda was built as a token of gratitude towards a Vipassana teacher and Accountant General of Independent Burma, Sayagyi U Ba Khin, who was instrumental in bringing Vipassana back to its country of origin after it ceased to exist in India. Many visitors frequent the Global Pagoda during the stressful and painful phases of their lives and manage to achieve total harmony in the chaotic times of today. It is also considered to one of the seven wonders of the state of Maharashtra.

The Pagoda is massive. Just walking around it is quite an exercise. The work done on the pagoda is intricate and beautiful. Wooden doors are huge with carvings on it. The meditation area is calming and peaceful. Though there are some renovation happening to the main dome. Entry is free.

Never thought of a place like this existing in the noisy and crowded Mumbai ! Beautiful place with positive vibes everywhere. It's a huge meditation centre having a huge dome hall for approx 8000 to sit, has a decent food plaza, a nice place to visit. It's built on an island near Gorai creek, you will require to fetch a ferry near Gorai to reach this place. The ferry transports vehicles too :) (bikes)

The construction of the Global Vipassana Pagoda, commencing in 1997, encompasses three sub-domes. The main dome, completed in 2006, holds Gautama Buddha's relics and stands as the world's largest hollow stone masonry structure with such relics. The second and third domes, along with an auxiliary one, rest upon the first dome, the third being finished in 2008. Notably, the pagoda's central point boasts the world's largest unsupported stone dome, standing 29 meters high, within a 96.12-meter-tall building. The inner dome, accommodating 8000 people, serves as a spacious meditation hall for practicing non-sectarian Vipassana meditation. The complex's purpose is to honor Buddha's teachings, provide a space for meditation courses, and express gratitude through its grandeur.

The Global Vipassana Pagoda in Borivali stands as a majestic testament to tranquility and spiritual enlightenment. This awe-inspiring monument, set against the backdrop of lush greenery, is a beacon of peace and introspection. The pagoda's architecture is a harmonious blend of traditional design and modern engineering. Its sheer size and pristine white exterior create a serene ambiance that immediately transports visitors to a state of calm. The pagoda's golden crown adds a touch of regal elegance to the structure, glistening in the sunlight. Inside, the vast meditation hall exudes an aura of stillness and serenity. The grand statue of the Buddha serves as a focal point, radiating a sense of profound peace. The hall is thoughtfully designed to accommodate large gatherings of meditators, while also providing individual spaces for contemplation. The Global Vipassana Pagoda not only captivates with its architecture but also serves as a hub for spiritual seekers. The pagoda is deeply rooted in the practice of Vipassana meditation, and courses are regularly conducted on its premises. These courses offer participants a chance to explore the depths of their minds and discover inner peace. The pagoda's location offers respite from the city's hustle and bustle. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll around the beautifully landscaped gardens, enjoying the tranquility and breathtaking views of the surrounding area. While the Global Vipassana Pagoda is a place of immense beauty and spiritual significance, some may find that the limited availability of information on-site hampers the overall experience. However, this minor drawback does not detract from the profound sense of peace that one can experience here. In conclusion, the Global Vipassana Pagoda in Borivali is a masterpiece of architecture, spirituality, and tranquility. Its serene environment and commitment to meditation make it a haven for those seeking inner peace and self-discovery. A visit to this remarkable monument is an invitation to embark on a journey of introspection and serenity.

We went first to Gorai Jetty Market to catch a ferry which dropped us to the opposite side of shore. Once we reached the other side, we had limited options and had to catch an auto which took ₹100 to drop us to Vipassana pagoda (too costly for hardly 1 - 2 km ride). The place doesn't require any entry fee, it has a strict checking before we enter the place. The pagoda is huge, open and closer to greenery. You can spend 1-3 hours there exploring the place, sitting in the garden and having a meal. The place is good for photographers as they are the only ones who can spend a longer time there without getting bored and clicking every nook and corner or the architecture.

Very calm and serene place. There is also an art gallery wherein all the stages of Buddha's life are captured in a unique and captivating way. There is also a souvenir shop. This shop has beautiful crafts ranging from Books to Home decor. As you move out of this place back to home, you take a sense of calmness and serenity in your heart. One word, serene. It's one of the most peaceful places I've visited. It's huge as well. I went there by road which are good by the way. There is an app called 'Global Vipassana Pagoda' which has all the info about this place including all the points you can visit here. There is a museum here which has all the stories about Lord Buddha but it was closed due to covid. It has a food plaza which is clean and affordable. It doesn't have a parking space as such but vehicles can be parked out on street which isn't a problem because of it's non-busy nature. If you visit here, you should also visit Gorai beach which is 3 kms away from here. And you can bring your vehicle on beach too.

Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal remedy for universal ills, i.e., an Art of Living. The technique of Vipassana Meditation is taught at ten-day residential courses during which participants learn the basics of the method, and practice sufficiently to experience its beneficial results. There are no charges for the courses - not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from people who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the opportunity to also benefit.

This Buddist Pagoda is situated in a calm and serene place far away from the city. It is a good place for meditation and a must visit place. Although this place can be reached via road, ferry is the quickest option from Borivli station. The boat ride is also enjoyable as we can enjoy soothing wind and get a good sight of the tall buildings in the horizon in the background of mangroves.

There are very friendly staff who give information about the past about the structures. There also a full blown painting library showcasing the entire journey of Lord Buddha. And there is a store at the exit where you can purchase arts and handicrafts and books and idols and much more. A Must visit place for people who like spending time in a peaceful environment.

Golden pagoda is an tourist attraction situated in borivali west. There are two ways to reach out at this destination. 1.The first is by an ferry which is to be boarded from gorai creek situated in borivali west. From borivali railway station there are many buses which can take you to this place. There are share autos and private autos from borivali station to gorai creek. Share autos take around ₹20 per seat of now in December 2020. From gorai creek one had to buy a ticket of ₹15 for ferry ride. The ferry ride takes 15 Mins to reach to the pagoda island. After berthing and disembarking from ferry one has to walk for around 1.2kms to reach to the pagaoda. 2. The second route is by road. From kashimira one has to head towards uttan. It is very much in the inner side from main road. There are frequent check posts of police for security purpose. There is ample of parking space near pagoda. There is no parking charge as of now in covid. Rides from ferry are still on but only two wheeler are permitted in ferry. Food court is open in pagoda.

We visited on a Monday evening as part of city tour and was certainly worth it. Nestled away from the city and amidst greenery, this Buddhist religious centre is meant for not only place of worship but also meditation. There is free audio tour guide available which will explain about different aspects of this place. The evening time was good with cool breeze and light sun. We could also see sun set from here. There are lot of steps at the entrance making it difficult for those who can't walk for long and we didn't see any buggy present. Unsure if there is any food stall but you can find small eateries along the way to here. The entry is free and there is also a shop to make purchases of souvenirs. A must visit if you come to Mumbai.

What will you choose? 10 minutes meditation everyday or a lifetime of medication? This place is the answer for it. It's about everything Gautam Buddha. From what his life was, how did he help world and how we can live his type of life in current world. Everything is taught here. I had visited this place on my mother's birthday with my students. We had an intention that this visit would be fun + learn. And it really was. This place has an unexplainable peace that directly affects the heart. And don't forget to see and learn about world's second largest one piece wooden door.

The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a Meditation Hall near Gorai, North-west of Mumbai, India. It is built on a peninsula between Gorai creek and the Arabian Sea. The pagoda is to serve as a monument of peace and harmony. The Global Vipassana Pagoda has been built out of gratitude to the Buddha, his teaching and the community of monks practicing his teaching. Its traditional Burmese design is an expression of gratitude towards the country of Myanmar for preserving the practice of Vipassana. It was built combining ancient Indian and modern technology to enable it to last for a thousand years. Such a beautiful place of mind peace area with beautiful places to visit in morning or evening time because due to some reason visitors are not allowed after 1PM.

To reach this place we have to take a ferry ride for 30 minutes, I'm so curious to visit the pagoda structure. Finally I reached it, It was so good and well maintained and had a calm atmosphere but the disappointing part is unfortunately we can't mediate inside the pagoda due to under construction. Be honest nothing much than a ferry ride and an architecture

The Global Vipassana Pagoda is an impressive and serene structure located in Gorai, Mumbai. The pagoda was built to promote Vipassana meditation, an ancient technique of self-awareness and self-purification. The structure itself is a marvel of engineering and design, featuring a large golden dome that is said to be one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. The dome is surrounded by a circular hall with 10,000 seats, providing ample space for meditation sessions and teachings. One of the most striking features of the pagoda is the intricate design work that covers its exterior. The walls are adorned with intricate carvings and murals, depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha and other important figures in Buddhist history. Inside, the pagoda is equally impressive, with a large meditation hall and a museum that showcases the history and significance of Vipassana meditation. Visitors to the pagoda often describe it as a peaceful and serene place, with a powerful spiritual energy that can be felt as soon as you step inside. The pagoda is open to visitors of all faiths and backgrounds, and many people come from all over the world to experience the peaceful atmosphere and learn more about Vipassana meditation. Overall, the Global Vipassana Pagoda is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in meditation, spirituality, or the history of Buddhism. It is a truly impressive structure that inspires awe and reverence, and its teachings and atmosphere can have a profound impact on anyone who visits.

It is an architectural gem that exudes serenity and spirituality. Located in Mumbai, this magnificent pagoda stands as a symbol of tranquility and inner peace. Its sheer size and pristine white exterior create a sense of awe, drawing visitors into its meditative ambiance. Inside, the vast meditation hall offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city, making it an ideal place for introspection and mindfulness. It's so peaceful, the ambience is so calm ..you can just go and regain ur peace of mind...... Try and meditate there ....or just listen peacefully to the various sounds of the bells. It's a good place to just relax..!

There is separate room for experiencing meditation with audio guide, also there are many photogenic environmental scenic beauty. People visit here for 15 day meditation course and stay there and meditate in the pagoda, it is equipped with AC and complete calm and serenity. There are Food Stalls where you get limited snacks also you get ICE CREAMS. It's a combination of great architecture with peace of mind.

Vipassana meditation is a technique which was introduced in India 2500 years ago by Gautama Buddha. With the help of this ancient technique one can achieve peace and harmony and well being in his life. Slogan: "Sabka Mangal ho"which means every being be happy. Please note : If you have attended at least one ten day course Vipassana then only you can meditate in this hall.

Global Vipassana Pagoda is just like Love. Sitting here fulld ay doesn't make you bore at all. This palce is very good for meditation. Actually the follow the tradition. If you are wearing half shorts, one piece, deep necks, deep backs clothes etc, never go, they will not allow, or else they will ask to cover it with a cloth they will provide. Avoid visiting in such clothes, it is devotional place. Also, don't ever pluck the fruits or flowers from the trees, they preserve the trees and can catch you for penalty.

Situated at the most serene and secluded locations, this looks spectacular at night time, with the lights giving it a stunning charm, very peaceful, people come here for vipassana(meditation)sessions. Such an amazing place in India. Really unique, calm and peaceful meditative place. Yes - it took like an hour to travel there - but was awestruck by the view it offers before reaching there - the pagoda was visible from a very far away itself. It was very majestic and holistic. It feels as if you were there is Myanmar - it never feels like Indian there. There was a 10 day course they offer - to learn the art of Dhamma . One can stay there within the campus itself and attend that course. Also those who really meditate and people who attend that course are only allowed inside the main meditative hall. Others can only get a glimpse of the hall. An excellent souvenir shop is available there near the exit.

Was a day visit to this Vipassana Centre in Gorai. It was a torrid hot day! The car park beingbsome distance away didn't help. Very well maintained precincts and courteous staff. What we found disappointing was that there was no sign of a decent eatery anywhere in the vicinity that served vegetarian fare.

What an exquisite and tranquil location! The architecture of the Global Pagoda is truly splendid, giving the sensation of being in a international location like Thailand or Bali. The guided tour app enhances the experience, and the video hall provides insights into the Pagoda's history and creation. Inside the premises, there's a meditation hall where 10-minute sessions take place. A visit to this place in Mumbai is essential. The moment you arrive, you'll experience the unique sense of peace and beauty it offers—a truly distinct feeling. No entry fee. Recommended 👍🏻💫💫💫

The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a Meditation dome hall with a capacity to seat around 8,000 Vipassana meditators (the largest such meditation hall in the world) near Gorai, north-west of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Its traditional Burmese design is an expression of gratitude towards the country of Myanmar for preserving the practice of Vipassana. The shape of the pagoda is a copy of the Shwedagon Pagoda (Golden Pagoda) in Yangon, Myanmar. It was built combining ancient Indian and modern technology to enable it to last for a thousand years.[

My recent visit to the Global Vipassana Centre in Mumbai was a profound journey into the world of mindfulness and self-discovery. As an avid meditator, I was eager to explore what this renowned center had to offer. Location: The center's serene location, nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai, provided a peaceful and conducive environment for meditation. Surrounded by nature, the ambiance was ideal for introspection and mental stillness. Instructors: The instructors at the centre were knowledgeable and approachable. They guided the meditation sessions with clarity, emphasizing the principles of Vipassana meditation. Their expertise greatly enhanced the overall experience and contributed to the depth of my practice.

If you are seeking solace & serenity, this is the place where you can find it. It is the world's largest stone dome built without any supporting pillars. This is an awesome achievement. Being there ensures you experienced something that is a part of history & world famous. They also offer a technique of meditation called Vipassana or 'insight meditation'. If you are truly desirous of serenity, this is how it can be found.

A monument of peace and serenity, the Global Vipasana Pagoda is a dream project of Principal Vipassana Teacher, Shree S.N. Goenka. The Pagoda is a symbol of the Buddha in meditation. Each part of the Pagoda's design has a deeper meaning. The Pagoda symbolizes, the entire path of the Dhamma: morality, concentration & wisdom. The Pagoda has a a very large meditation hall having capacity of 8k+ people. There is no entry fee or charge to see the Global Vipassana Pagoda as well as the picture and video gallery. Do not forget to visit the library as well as shop at the souvenir center. Besides the main Pagoda there are other two small pagodas in which the corporeal relics of the Buddha have been enshrined (donated by the Government of Sri Lanka and the Mahabodhi Society of India, Bodh Gaya). Visitors can also attend the Mini-Anapana meditation course(10min) , in separate areas specially designated for them. There is a canteen & snack store also there with proper sitting arrangements where visitors can eat satvik thali as well as many other dishes.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Global Vipassana Pagoda in Mumbai, India, and it truly stands as a remarkable testament to the art of meditation and architectural grandeur. This colossal meditation dome, the largest in the world, offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai life. Modeled after the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, Myanmar, the Global Vipassana Pagoda exudes a sense of tranquility and spiritual elegance. Its spire, adorned with real gold and crowned with a decorative umbrella gifted by Myanmar, is a sight to behold. The pagoda's architectural feat extends to being the world's largest unsupported domed stone structure, a testament to the craftsmanship and engineering prowess behind its creation. The pagoda welcomes visitors every day from 9 AM to 7 PM, providing ample time for individuals and families to explore its peaceful ambiance. Many visitors praise the Global Vipassana Pagoda as an ideal destination for spending quality time with family, immersing themselves in the meditative atmosphere.
