Rajgruha is the house of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar located in Hindu colony, Dadar. When Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar settled in the Mumbai city during the 1930s, he built himself a house in the Hindu Colony in Dadar area. He supervised the design of the structure, which was initially constructed to store his books, and named it Rajgriha, after the ancient Buddhist kingdom. Ambedkar collected more than 50,000 books during his time at Rajgruha, which made it one of the largest personal libraries in the world at the time of his death. In 2013 the mansion became a heritage monument. Two rooms on the ground floor of the house today serve as a small memorial and museum, storing a few photographs and Dr. Ambedkar’s ashes, which are open to 'darshan'. The museum displays Dr Ambedkar and Ramabai Ambedkar's personal belongings, images and Babasaheb's mortal remains. The museum is located on the ground floor - all other floors are private property. Opening Days Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Opening Time 10:00 a.m. Closing Time 05:00 p.m.

A peaceful piece of history away from the hub-bub of the city. However, the captions in the artefacts and photos are solely in Marathi, and thus outsiders can find it difficult to interpret them.

Residence of Great Humankind and Great Indian of the century, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. No need to tell you more about it, after all its heritage building and and more importantly it is the place where babasaheb lived, his family still living and we can feel the thrill when touching the things used by Great Babasaheb.

I don't think so ratings matters here. Anyways When I visited we are allowed to see two rooms in ground floor, where Ambedkar things and old photos kept. This needs lot of improvement in terms detailed information and broader understanding of Ambedkar life.

Well maintained collection of things belonging to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. His spectacles, stick he used to walk with, utensils, books he read, old photos. Also the room where he used to rest and most importantly, the room where he wrote the 'Constitution of India' along with its original copy is present here. Also there is a person available who helps us understand the things present there. Must visit for every Indian to know the Architect of our Constitution.
