This is only national park in the world which is within city limits. Here you can cycle, walk, trek, go for tiger and lion safari, enjoy the mini train ride and also do boating. Not to miss is the trip to Kanheri caves. Bus and private transport is available. Bus ticket is 10 Rupees one way. Private vehicle will cost 50 bucks one side. In lion safari, sightings are now less as compared to 10-15 years ago but the tigers have increased and they are huge and so not to be missed. Fill your lungs with fresh air within the national park. Avoid carrying plastic. Carry your own refreshments if possible. There are spotted deer roaming freely who can be spotted easily. Avoid feeding them.

National Park is open for cyclists and walkers. Go and enjoy, carry water, don't litter, don't disturb the wild but be the wild. Just enjoy their presence; Cost: Rs70 per Adult + additional Rs20 for outside cycles. Harry's bicycle rentals is just outside the park that provides great quality cycles. Plan ahead of time before you come here. Stay safe. Happy 2021!

Amazing place for natural lovers. Vast expansion of forest in the middle of the city and very much green cover present even in today’s time. I went there for an early morning cycling session with my friends and had a very great time there. Also during a break we tried out the fruits sold by the locals and also spotted a lot of deer amidst our way. The climate was chilled and we enjoyed every bit of the fresh air in the national Park. However there needs to be a lot of improvement when it comes to tourists keeping the place tidy and clean and also security issues at a lot of internal places.

Great place for the family together on the weekend. If kids are there, they will love to explore the animals and the caves. Lot of space to spend time. Avoid the hot afternoon as it is getting too hot these days. But no one from the administration is interested in the guests, visitors or at least I found nobody to guide us. Then there's this private van guys, who come to us. They asked for the rides to caves and Jain temples. They charged hefty amount. The staff is aware of all these intrusion maybe they'll get the share too. Public is really patient and great. They will one day revolt against such management. I am rating it 5 because I still hope if the staff supports the visiting public with a little more resources then kids from the city can learn a lot. It's a treasure of historical importance and full of greenery for the future.

Tiger safari and Kanheri caves are must visit places in Sanjay Gandhi National Park - I visited this place last week. It was an amazing experience. Ample parking space is available. Rent a bicycle and roam the entire park. When I visited the boat riding was closed and the lion safari was closed due to some maintenance work. While returning do visit their souvenir shop, they have amazing hand made crafts available at very reasonable prices.

. Overall rating is 5 but needs a lot of improvements. . Such an EXCELLENT PROPERTY in the midst of this polluted city - a DIVINE GIFT . URGE all Mumbai visitors not to miss this MARVELOUS DESTINATION. But... . For a tourist like me, I don't get a feel of what to see, though as a Google Local Guide, I'm reasonably aware of this destination. . Or what the facilities are available and how much time is needed to enjoy them. . There is no proper NO PROPER "BOARDS" Indicating "Where to Start" or "How to Go". . As a Google Local Guides Meet-up destination, we visited Kanheri Caves, we had the problem - what to see and how much time & what to SHOOT... I shall add all possible answers very soon

I simply love this place...best time to visit is July -August . It's better during this time due to the greenery n the rains. It has many things to do n see, so before you visit plan what you wanna do there,it's not a place that you can wind up in one day. You need min 2 days to see the place. Actually it's a hidden gem in this urban jungle. It has everything that your mind needs to unwind !

Good place to have a day out with family. Kids will love the place and will be a one day picnic or outing. There is also a safari inside at an extra cost. There are around 250 small caves and all have been numbered. Good place to spend a weekend.

Place is okay. You can go up to Entry gate with you AC cars, then after that you have to take either the Best Buses or Local taxis to move further. - There's boating place is ok. - Tiger & Lion safari is available. But with the cost it seems cost is more compare to as you expect from it. - Lots of Monkeys you will find there, you need to be cautious while eating food as monkeys can disturb you. - Caves are nice if you have stamina to walk. - Not recommended for senior citizens

So after lockdown I made my visit over there. They revised the entry fee which around 70 per adult and 40 per child which is quite expensive of course. I guess some maintenance work and restructuring work is also going on inside. Of course no doubt park is very huge and beautiful. I love going there and it's fun place for a day picnic with family

I had visited this place yesterday only during pandemic thought of that it would be a great change to explore the place and being close to nature. But the main thing which was kanheri caves was closed I don't know why still we bought the tickets as they have revised the prices which is now 70 rs per adult and it was an ok experience for us as we really wanted to see Kanheri caves but for family outing and picnic it is best you will really enjoy the open place.Must visit with your family for picnic.

It isn't a new place for most of us but still a wonderful time amidst nature. The boat riding and mini train is now working. Boating is for 15mins and train ride is for 20 mins. Caves are closed for now. There is a local bus for people who don't wish to walk much. Cars aren't allowed as of now. But I feel the entry ticket price should be reduced. It is very well maintained and clean. Entry starts at 8.30am for non pass holders.people can enjoy hot breakfast and snacks just outside the entrance.

Excellent weather! Full greenery and bus service was also quite frequent. Currently lion safari, mini train ride & boating is closed. Tiger safari is open. Bring good grip shoes with you otherwise you'll regret going in this season. I found rides unnecessarily pricey. This park is best in this rainy season. Highly recommended!

The Best Place to connect with Fresh air and nature. Come for a early morning walk or prefer cycling by renting it from inside as they are cheap and with all the serviced cycles. Please buy some fruits, nimboo paani from the locals as they are very helpful . This is a multiple times visit place. Come and enjoy the Gorgeous Greens.🌿☘️🍀🌳🌴💚💚💚

This park is a popular tourist attraction. It is a vast park with caves and a big cat safari. There are 4 rivers originating from this park. This park is an ideal place for families, couples, school children, wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers as well as friends. It is near borivali station. 10 Rs/- sharing auto easily available. Best way to visit this park is by cycling and best time to visit is rainy season. Cycling is amazing experience here you will see amazing greenery, water fall, river in entire national park. One can notice beautiful rocky out crops covered by varities of flora and birds. staff and rules need to be little more strict. Only and biggest problem you will find that there is traffic jam inside park. Specially during weekends this places becomes very crowded. But yes still scenic beauty amaze you so well that you forget all these things.

This is the best national park in India located so close to the railway station and the bus station. Just across the road hence very enjoyable. They have a zoo and natural animals too. They have electric vehicles for safari rides and also bicycles on rent. The entrance fee is nominal. ♿The entire park is accessible for the differently abled.

If enjoying nature is your forte then this is the place for you. You will get to see a lot of greenery and will be able to click a lot of pics too if you're a pics person. The entry fee for an adult person is 85 rupees. If you are bringing a bicycle from rentals/home you need to pay separate charges of rs.33. The entry fee for caves is rs. 25 per person If you want to enjoy it i would suggest visiting it with your group of friends. The best season to enjoy would be monsoon (or winter if you don't like rain). The small train is broken nowadays so it is out of options the way to bamboo trails/huts is also closed(maybe because of rain). You can take bicycles on rent from inside for rs. 80 for 2 hours. I would suggest renting the bicycles from inside only cause the bicycle rentals on the outside will just loot you (you can prefer them if you want bicycles with gear or if you have any other preferred type). Or you can take buses to visit different locations. It'll take 1 day to just visit Kanheri caves on a bicycle and return (if you want to enjoy it completely). Bring your own food because you won't get variety to eat inside. There's a canteen inside near the caves but it provides only breakfast items and hygiene is not good.

I went on Sunday, Kanheri Caves are good, awesome greenery and a nice place to relax and enjoy the open sky by watching the entire national park greenery from the caves. Don't go for Lion and Tiger safari it is a waste of time and money, the price is Rs.135 or so. One lion in an open cage in the lion safari area. Two tigers are there in an open cage, one or two deer freely roaming in the safari area.

I visited Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the rainy season as well as in the winter season and both times the experience was unique and amazing. When I visited in the rainy season the view was amazing and the water accumulation at all the places just increased the beauty of the place. In the winter season when I visited it was good as well with less water but great weather for cycling. The day was sunny but not that hot a good combination of vitamin D and fresh oxygen. Both times I rented a cycle from nearby local vendors, you can get the cycle inside the parks as well but to avoid rush we booked a cycle on an hourly rental basis and went ahead. Both times when I visited the National Park we went to Kanheri Caves for which you have to pay an additional ticket of Rs. 25 for Indian Citizen and Rs. 300 for Foreign Resident. If you don't wish to rent a cycle you can also use public transport buses starting from the entry gate of the National Park to Kanheri Caves with fare of Rs. 13 only. It was a great experience overall and I can call it a fun and happening day. PS. Cycle rent starts from Rs. 80 an hour till Rs. 150 an hour on the basis of quality of the cycle. If you book for the whole day you may get a discount. You just have to carry one original government ID card for the booking. And no need to worry there are multiple vendors outside National Park who provide cycles on rent.

A lovely place tucked away in the lap of Mumbai. With a rich diversity of flora and fauna, SGNP is a place that you can hang out with your friends and family for a nice outing. Boating, tiger and leopard safari, Kanheri Caves are the main attractions. Tickets for the Entry: Rs. 60 Tickets for boating: Rs. 100 Tickets for Tiger Safari: Rs 100 It's a no plastic zone. Fresh fruits and juices are available as snacks. There are slides and swings for children to play. The toilets are not very clean. Start out early in the day as it's cooler. Carry some sandwiches or dry snacks and plenty of water to drink. Most of the area is covered with trees so a hat/cap is not needed.

Good place for hanging out with friends. We got cycles on rent for 2hrs inside the park, and that made our visit quite interesting. Ride bicycle in a national park was a wonderful experience 😃 you guys must try rather than walking. It will about 1 and half hour to clear every points on bicycle and after that you can go for boating, and rest in gardens or visit some up-hill areas.

First of all, I would appreciate the amount of cleanliness the park holds. We had a bisleri bottle with us, so inorder to take it inside we had to pay a deposit of amount rs 100. So that we don't throw the bottle inside. The park has a facility of hiring bicycles. Would have to pay rs 80 for 2 hours and if you exceed the given time you will have to pay rs 20 for half an hour. The entry fees is rs 70 each. There are direction boards on every stop. Even if you get lost you'll be able to get back.

Just okay okay place to have weekend from your busy schedule. Just enjoy nature. This can be made more beautiful and attractive place to visit. Need more attention from government authorities to make this place more pleasant. More focus should be given on wildlife visit and wildlife care. Many people visit this place every day but money generated from that is not being used properly. There should be plastic ban as it comes under wildlife habitat , everywhere scattered plastic bags can be seen. Indian people are spending money to take photographs with wild cats, when they visit foreign countries, this can make possible in our country too. This place need more attention from public and government authorities.

It's the lungs if the city! You see a variety of people coming for walks here. Security is good at the entrance and patrolling is constant on weekends. Bus service to kanheri has made it convenient. Early morning Athletes running here are an inspiring sight! Spotting a spotted deer is a visual treat, esp near the tribal villages residing here.

Best picnic spot.it can be boring for small children and there are no play area. Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a 87 km2 (34 sq mi) protected area in Mumbai, Maharashtra State in India. It was established in 1996 with headquarters at Borivali. It is notable as one of the major national parks existing within a metropolis limit and is one of the most visited parks in the world.

We are lucky to have a national park within our city. It's a really good getaway from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. Lush green patches, open parks, tourist attractions, a lake, a toy train, lion and Tiger safari, and quiet corners to escape the crowd; national park has it all. They have recently stopped allowing cars from entering the park. You need to park your vehicles right outside the gate and walk through the national park. But you can either rent cycles (which are savage at the gate itself) or hitch a ride on their internal buses. Do give this place a visit if you're in Mumbai.

Great place for being in nature and detoxifying your spirit and feeling utterly rejuvenated. Really worth going especially in rainy season where you'll see many waterfalls and lush green trees to delight yout eyes. Entry fees is Rs 77 if you are going in person. However, there are different rates if you've brought in your cycle. Either you can track to the mountain or you can go to Kanheri Caves. So choice is yours and enjoy your time.

It was not fun at all. We had to stand in a long line to buy an entrance ticket that cost us ₹94. Then, we had to stand in another line to catch a bus, which cost us around ₹13, as private taxis were too expensive at ₹70 per person. After reaching there, everything was expensive, whether to buy or eat. Moreover, there was no proper water supply, and we had to buy a ₹25 ticket to see the Caneri cave. The guards were not allowing us to explore everything properly; they kept saying, 'Don't go there,' even though we were following all the guidelines. On our way back, we faced the same issue, having to stand in line for an hour to catch a bus. There was no network, and it was quite frustrating. If you plan to visit, please carry cash with you. Also, there were no animals, only monkeys. It's not worth the money and time.

Sanjay Gandhi National park is the biggest National park located within the crowded city of Mumbai. This park conserves flaura and fauna of this city. The environment inside the park is very refreshing and chilled when compared to the city. I believe people should take time and visit this beautiful place once a while out of their busy schedules.

Place is nice bit needs a bit of good management like travelling from gate to Kanheri caves is 7 km but there are limited bus and this waste your time and you’ll be stuck there resulting in missing some other important things like safari or boating If you have to enjoy this place properly then come as early as possible to cover every thing. Also bring your own food bcz you’ll get only fruit and salad type fruit here

Just for fun let me ask you something, suppose you are new in Mumbai and If I say that you can see a lion in his natural habitat in the middle of Mumbai city, what you would be your reaction, you would probably laugh at my face first and then personally drop me to nearest mental hospital and I would have done the same hadn't I been to this place. In a city of chaos this park is a bliss. Sitting at the heart of Mumbai ; Borivali; Sanjay Gandhi National park has tons of amusement to offer. It has a decent wild habitat, an inhouse animal reserve centre, a masterpiece of medivieal artistry and on top of that a jovial toy train ride that finishes this multicourse dinner. This place is vast, no don't even think about exploring it like fa hien explored India. Suggestions, if you are with family take a car there and for those who don't lie in the new lower middle class slab, you have the option of hiring a private vechile to check into. There are buses too but traveling with them you wouldn't get enough time to look around. There is no place to eat inside so keep your food with you but be aware not to take any handbags when visiting kanheri caves cause the monkeys there ain't no civil and seeks no permission to snatch your bags and investigate for food.

I had visited national park before also. But this was my first time after covid and it was an amazing nature. Same as before. There is many things to expore. Safari was open but kanheri caves was closed which is the one of the best place to visit in NP, if you want to visit kanheri only then call them. And confirm if is it open, you can. Call. Them. By searching there number on google, confirm it between 10 to 12 and then only go.... Else just to visit and go national park is also awesome. Very important to note down is, outside food is not allowed, you can carry you own homemade food in your tiffin but package food are not allowed, and also packed plastic bottle are not allowed. Time starts from 10am and it's till 6. And one more thing to remind you guys, make sure you take something to eat, becoz inside there is nothing much to have and full your tummy. Before covid 2whellers were allowed inside but now its not allowed. Only cycle are there which you can take is as per your. Requirements. Entry ticket is 70/- per head, very very and very important wear your mask when you are outside the NP or near by the gate of NP, if you don't wear mask there is fine of 200/- per head, I had that bad experience 😂 so. I am just making you aware of it. Else my journey in NP was good. You also enjoy with your frnds family or loved once. Always recommended place for lovers😍😍😍😍😍😍 Sharing some of my photos..

Good for visitors for walking and cycling.Bicycle rentals are available inside the park or you can visit on your own bicycle and pay an entry fee. The animal safari is a short and good experience(not an extensive safari like other national parks) but a small 30 minute ride. The heritage Kanheri Caves are very picturesque. You should preferably visit twice once to cover the caves and the other time to visit the park for a good experience.

Nature at its best… bang on the Western Express Highway in Borivali, Sanjay Gandhi National Park makes u feel right out of the city and in the JUNGLE ‘instantly’ the moment you step inside the gates of SGNP. Every nook and corner of this place is delightful. Great thing about the park is that if you live in the vicinity, u can get ANNUAL morning walk (between 5 AM to 0730 AM) PASS by paying a nominal fees of 261₹ MUST Visit, specially during the rains!! Entry fees per person after 0730 AM , is 77₹ as of now.

One of my favourite places to visit! One of the greenest areas in Mumbai, this National Park has plenty of attractions for everyone. There is a wildlife safari that takes you through the park - riders get to see lions, tigers, deer, peacocks, monkeys and other wild animals. There is also a taxidermy museum. The National Park area was inhabited by Buddhist monks a long time ago, and the evidence can be seen in the form of Karla caves. It houses an ancient rainwater harvesting system, meditation caves and statues of Buddha.

Heaven in the midst of the city. Especially kanheri caves and trek up the hills in monsoon. Inspite of care taken by authorities to ensure littering is avoided, some idiots still throw plastic.

It's hard to see everything in one day if one doesn't pay for a vehicle. A beautiful place to walk around and experience the natural beauty of a thriving beautiful forest. It has a variety of animals, like monkeys, deers, etc living inside the premises of the park. The tiger safari usually takes around 20-25minutes once it starts. A beautiful place to experience with family and friends.

You can rent the cycle from inside the park as well but to get that you have to go early otherwise you will not get from inside and you have to rent it from outside which will cost you more. Normal entry ticket is 80 rupees per person. Cycle parking cost is 33 rupees per cycle. There is also lion and tiger safari inside the park for that you have to pay extra. There is one jain temple and kanheri caves. Inside the park you will get some light food and water option as well. You can also enjoy the boat ride in the park.

Best place to Visit. It takes full day for exploring Sanjay gandhi park. You can visit Kanheri caves which is 7 kms away .You can easily get a private vehicle or you may avail the bus facility. There are about 100 small caves at kanheri. However there are very few animals and lots of monkey.

The best place to visit with your family or friends. Before entering the park please read the terms and conditions specially u have to take care about things like photography and food. Some people don't give u proper information then after they will charge u fine for that. We have paid fine for their mistake. They gave us wrong information which we followed but the another officer have charged fine for that with very rude behavior.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a huge park where the Kanheri Caves are located. As I have to pay the entrance fee for the park to get to the caves anyway, I wandered around the park after visiting the caves. The parks is a surprisingly lovely area, clean and peaceful. Peaceful especially compared to the rest of the city. Lots of activities such as boating, safaris etc. There’s not much variety in terms of the trees and plants.

I only saw a small portion of the northern part of the national park, & it looks like a great place for trekking & camping. I began from Devi temple at bottom of a hill, climbed up till a road, walked along road. Then found a Jain temple with beautiful intricate carvings close to a farm along Eastern Express Highway. 🏞

Tiger is visible only in fenced space like a zoo. Bus service is available to see. It's ticket 103 is very high considering caged tiger only. Museum and cat interaction is good. Boating also seems good. We saw deer while heading to kanheri caves in van. Many residents reside inside the national park.

I recently visited a National Park and was blown away by the beauty and tranquility of the place. The scenery was breathtaking, with lakes, lush forests, and wildlife. The park was well-maintained and clean, with clearly marked trails and plenty of information available about each place. I was impressed by the range of activities and facilities available - there were picnic areas, and opportunities boating. The park rangers were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, providing useful tips and advice on how to safely explore the park. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend visiting a National Park to anyone who loves nature and the great outdoors

SGNP is one of the very few national parks situated right in the heart of a metro city! The park is amazingly well maintained and protected. One can rent bicycles too every morning and roam around in the park. There are plenty of small waterfalls, hikes and trails to visit. Kaneri Caves is one of the main highlight places to visit. It's also a beautiful place to jog/run every morning. You can buy a yearly pass at ₹287 which allows you to enter the park every morning before 7:30.

Good place to visit with kids. The Lion tiger safari is not very good, you get hardly a minute to see them from the bus. The guys are in rush to complete maximum trips in given time. No proper guidance to show the way. Private vehicles are not allowed inside but still we see some people are allowed. Carry some snacks for kids. Or you get fruits (only) to eat inside.

SGNP is one of the best places to experience nature. It is very dense with well built road of 7km leading to Kanheri caves. You can walk/jog/cycle or even use public bus/ private transport in there. One of the best places for photography. Cycles are available for rent at the entrance of the park. You may spot deer during summers after a 1km walk. The view from top of the kanheri caves is very soothing to the eyes. It opens for cyclists around 7.30am. There is cleanliness inside. Small food items like lemonade, watermelon, star fruit, chana chaat are available at short diatances. It is advisable to carry your own water inside the park. Spending time at SGNP is always memorable.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) has always been the ideal picnic or weekend break-away destination for Mumbaikars in search of some respite from the chaos and pressures of this densely populated metropolis. Be it a boat ride in the artificial lake near the main gate or joy ride in the hugely famous mini train or the ‘van rani’, visitors throng these attractions by the thousands on an ideal weekend. Some walk upto the Gandhi Tekdi and enjoy the sky scape around the immediate vicinity.

The safari is a major let down....2 tigers n 2 lions..in their small enclosures..so not worth the time n effort to buy the tickets..in present changed ticket counter. The caves are closed as of now. Cars are not allowed inside.. parking area is available. Closed on Monday. U r allowed to carry eatables inside. Bikes are available on rent. Cycling around is the best part of the whole trip. Enjoy nature in the midst of the city. But...don't expect to see any animals except for a couple of deers.

Wonderful place for long walks amidst the thick greens, especially the morning walks when you start at 6am and it's still dark. You belong to yourself in that chilling weather hoping for the moonlight to guide you. You make way for the torches, mobile phone lights those sometime go past you running or walking. You quickly continue to find yourself where you left. You keep breathing the fresh air and literally smell the green that fills your lungs as you walk briskly. At some point you lose track of the source of light and end up being guided by the rays of the Sun that has started showing up behind the mountains. Now you see the smiling faces, chatter and laughs around you. A regular Walker tries to catchup on the familiar faces he or she often meets along the way. Though strangers there is still some sort of satisfaction on locating them. You complete your track and drove yourself back into the daily busy routine with freshness that lasts throughout the day :)

Good place Many things to do, it easily takes 4 to 5hrs to cover all the attractions At the entrance there's a map showing things you can explore First you can start with kanheri caves ( 7km trek) 1) 3 ways to go there - you can hire a vehicle (ac car - Rs 5550 and non ac car - Rs 1350) 2) you can carry your bicycle and pay Rs 33 at entry or hire a bicycle there itself which is Rs 80 for 2hrs plus additional cost per hour (note - don't get your bicycle from outside they charge more) 3) go by bus after caves on the way back there's a jain temple which takes 15 to 20min after completing these two things they'll drop you at the entrance from where you can go for jungle safari, boating etc jungle safari can be avoided as there is not much to see (just a lion and tiger in a cage) deer can be spotted in open small canteen available (very few options)

The Sanjay Gandhi National Park is one of the most visited park of india. It is located in Borivali, you can easily access it through Western local trains going towards borivali or Virar, halting at borivali the park is at 10 min of walking distance. The entry fee is also minimal only 50 to 60 rs and more charges for vehicles. One of the best places for family picnics and morning walks, you can pack your lunch/breakfast from home itself as we did and enjoy inside the park, don't pollute the surroundings, throw garbage in the garbage can available. The area is huge, clean and has many attractions to watch, huge gardens, you can also rent bicycles for a minimal price with one photo identity proof, lion safari, kanheri caves, also wild animals roam around, a small pond in which you can do boating activities, mini train whose tracks are spread surrounding the whole park. My experience there is always amazing, getting detached from the outer world in the arms of nature, you will find locals inside selling home grown food stuffs which are cheap and nutritious. The ticket for kanheri caves if only 5rs for indian citizen and 2 dollers for foreign citizen, many foreigners do visit this park. The main attractions are the caves itself, perfect location for photoshoots also, major hub for couples to enjoy, the park closes at 7pm in the evening. The first thing you can do is roam around see all the available things around then do cycling, buses are available to go to the caves, then trek down towards the park and have your lunch, rest a little then to home , better then any other location on weekends as other places are quite crowded but the park is big so this problems never arrives here.

We initiated at around 9 am by 9.30 we were in the park n by 10 we were having nice boating experience in the pond... We also enjoyed mini train travel... Had tiger-lion bus safari & by 1 pm we were watching marvellous kanheri caves... We also had brunch... It is a nice 1 day picnic spot in Mumbai giving amazing experience... The Sanjay Gandhi National Park area has a long written history dating back to the 4th century BCE. In ancient India, Sopara and Kalyan were two ports in the vicinity that traded with ancient civilisations such as Greece and Mesopotamia. The 45 km (28 mi) land route between these two ports was partially through this forest.[3] The Kanheri Caves in the centre of the park were an important Buddhist learning centre and pilgrimage site sculpted by Buddhist monks between the 9th and the 1st centuries BCE.[4] They were chiselled out of a massive basaltic rock outcropping.[5]

The national park was really clean and was maintained really well. The staff was also good and polite. Even the crowd was decent. Rates are cheap, not more than ₹95. But many times the spots or rides are closed. You have to check before visiting ( you can check on Google maps, there it mentions closed or open). Note one thing that not all photos uploaded on Google maps are true. Thats it, thank you.

A good place for a 3 to 4 hour outing specially if you have kids, the lion and tiger safari is not exactly a safari but a ride inside the jungle where they show you 1 caged lion and 2 tigers. There is a toy trail ride of 10 minutes which kids would surely love. You can easily find deers and monkeys freely roaming everywhere.

Post covid situation, Borivalli national park is now open for visitors with new rules from December 2020. Mini-train, Sugandhi park and tiger and lion safari are now open but boating and the Kanheri Caves are still shut for visitors. The use of a proper mask or face cover and sanitizers are a 'must' for entering the national park (No Mask, No Entry), confirmed park authorities. All visitors should protect themselves and others from COVID-19 by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, avoiding crowds, cleaning their hands etc. The authorities have requested visitors to follow rules related to the prevention of the spread of Covid-19. Strict action will be taken against those who violate Covid-19 guidelines, park authorities warned! Private vehicles are not allowed in the park. Paid Parking facilities have been made available for visitors/tourists in a newly developed parking area. Lot of unique plants including pitcher plant, vanilla and many beautiful flowers are available to view in sugandhi garden.

Visited with family and friends and enjoyed a vacation type lunch on a mattress. Children were amused to see deer 🦌 in the open roaming around. You can rent or bring your bicycles and ride around in the park. If you are planning to go for lion safari or boating, buying at the entrance makes sense rather than stand in queques multiple times. For me safari was not satisfactory.. better to visit a zoo rather than to see the big cats in cage from the small window of the bus. Tip: When in the bus take the left side windows.

Perfect for a one-day family or friends picnic! There is a fee for parking vehicles and an entry fee, too. You can go on lion and tiger safaris, visit the Kanheri caves or just take a stroll in the lap of nature. The animals are kept free, which makes one happy. Just bring your lunch, spread out a picnic mat under the shade of the trees and enjoy! There is also a garden for children. Ample space to play cricket or badminton. Cycles are available on rent in the cycling stand, which is at the start of the National park. There is a mini train in SGNP, too. There is also a river which you can dip your feet in when the water level is low. Overall very nice experiences!

Best place for Family picnic...also the best place for your lungs to get actual fresh care...I've been here so many times during my childhood...visited here today as a Parent my 2year old Daughter enjoyed throughly...the animals, the Gardens, the boating, the safari...all in all the best experience for kids and seniors..family time is best spent here..would recommend weekday to visit as weekends are usually crowded...Heat is not an issue as there are many trees and you would hardly feel hot...the animals in abundance are deer & monkeys..about 2 lions and 1 tiger. They need to increase the number of animals..all an all a 9/10 experience...thank you :)

It's a nice place to go for a walk. But I guess the entry fee is too high for no reason, as there are not many animals or birds to see except monkeys and occasionally deer, unless you pay extra for the safari. Boating is fun but it has extra charges. I really feel that they should make good use of the space they have so that the national park gets more value and meaning.

Many years ago, I used to stay very close to Borivali National Park - the common name of this huge park. Almost every school in the vicinity of this park have had their picnics here. Do NOT book online tickets from any government website else you will regret it later. Go directly to the park and buy tickets from there. The entry ticket is quite inexpensive less than Rs.100 or so. I do not accurately remember how much I paid for it. Take your own vehicle if you want to visit this HUGE place! This place is a classic example of greenery and nature. Avoid summers strictly. The best seasons to visit this place is winters and monsoon. You might have an impression that you will find many exotic animals on your visit. Do not be overexcited about it. At the most, you will spot deers, leopards, hyenas, monkeys, butterflies, and if it is a good day, then you might also see a tiger or a cheetah. Often, local residents have reported to see large snakes, etc. They come out in summers so take extra precaution when strolling in the woods. There is a place deep inside the sanctuary known as, 'Gandhi Tekdi' from where you could see half of the locality from the top. Then, there is Kanheri caves , boating and mini train, etc. They also have a paid bus service called 'Lion Safari' for spotting some endangered animals. It is an excellent place for jogging, strolling, walking and just to take some fresh air. There is a small nursery over there. You might find some common and rare plants. During my visit, I also happen to see some Warli paintings. As a lover of crafts, I admired it. In short, if you are close by this park, then I suggest you visit this place once.

There wasn't much to see... we went on bicycles roaming everywhere. All the sightseeing including Kanheri caves were closed! EVERYTHING was closed. Waste of money. Also: We rented bicycles from outside that costed us 200rs + 24rs cycle entry charges. Too expensive... I think we made a mistake by renting from outside felt looted.

Good place to go for a quick day out. Nothing much to do here. But there are some activities you can definitely do with your friends. Boating is there, kahneri caves to see Lion, there's a cute train ride (but it takes too long to get the next train if it's full. You can also go cycling here. Simply take one from the counter at certain rental charges. My personal favorite time to here is just the beginning of monsoon, nice greenery.

There's so much to do at the SGNP! You can go here for a walk, run or a mini day trip. There's Kaneri Caves, Safari, Toy train, parks and a ton of greenery throughout. They've stopped allowing private cars inside, so you need to park your car outside at the parking area. Also, cleanliness and maintenance could be improved. Toy train was not functional when I visited.

A green lush jungle in the middle of the city. It's a good place for picnic with large groups of family or friends. But it has lost the charm earlier it had. Vanrani toy train and animal safari not working. There are hardly any animal you will find in national park and everything is chargeable like entry fees 77₹ , car parking 220₹ and then you are not allowed to take your personal vehicle in side so either take cycle on rent or private sharing vehicle charging 50₹ per seat or 10₹ BEST red buses to reach kanheri caves (25 entry fees) beware of monkeys (monkey will snatch away your any food). There is no any proper food stall available in park (may be in cafeteria very far away) but you will get lot of fruits and salad stalls in side. So you can take your own food. Chill water and washrooms available in park There is boating also for 15 min ~160₹ charges for four seater self paddle boat in small artificial lake. Kids can enjoy if in large group. Nature is good (depends on season - Nov to Jan is best time)

National park is a good place to take a walk among the trees. Have a nice boat ride and sit near the flowing water. Play area for kids is also available. You can also go for Lion and Tiger Safari. Open Train to see the park kids will enjoy Deers can be seen. Don't expect 5 Star treatment but it's a good experience. 1. Entrance Entry starts at 8am (Monday closed) Car parking is available 2. Bus available for Kanneri Caves Regular AC bus was available at 10-15 min intervals on Sun (not sure of AC bus on weekdays). Going up here you can see Buddhists Caves and a grand view of the Jungle spread across. (Carry water walking up will make you hot and thirsty.. there are locals selling fresh fruits and other natural food items which will refresh you) 3. Boating is nearby for you to enjoy. Paddle boats are given. 4. Train Ride is nearby 5. Also a 15 min climb to Gandhi Tekdi Will be a sight to remember Some fishes are seen in pond and also Loutus if you are lucky. 6. Sugandhi Garden is a nice place to take a walk among flowers The park is not like a zoo but a good place to walk and spend time with nature and get good air. Cycles are also available on rent non gear. --- For those interested in coming daily for a healthy walk or Run (no cycling) Morning walkers passes are available (morning walkers entry is limited to 7-7.15am) --- Overall a Perfect place to disconnect from city life and listen to nature and have a good time with friends and family.

The national park is also called the lungs of the city and is the only national park in the world known to be present within a city’s premises. Far from the bustle of the city, the environment inside the national park is completely peaceful and offers serenity. Spread across a total area of 103 square kilometres, the governing body of the national park is the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the footfall of visitors each year rounds up to a little over 2 million. The entire area of the national park forms approximately 20% of Mumbai’s geographical area.

Quite amazing to see such a big National park with rivers, waterfalls, animals, vegetation maintained in the midst of a metropolitan city. I visited on a weekend and it a was not too crowded. The entry timings are now changed to 8 am for visitors. I believe earlier it was around 6:30 am, which was much better since it already gets quite sunny when you enter the park. I noticed that daily pass holders are allowed to enter the park early in the morning for jogging, cycling and exercising. You'd find a beautiful park and jogging track right after the enterance. Mosto visitors would go directly for Kanheri caves. You could either take a bus to the caves or rent a cycle on hourly basis and ride along the beautiful greenery of the National park to reach kanheri caves. Its around 5kms with some steep climbs and curves, so make sure you have the energy to cycle for half an hour on a climb. It definitely gets quite tiring by the time you reach the caves. The road to caves is real beautifull and You'd definitely enjoy the ride. They have cycles inside the park to rent as well as You'd find many private cycle outside the park's entrance to rent. Do negotiate the hours and make sure you get at least 4hrs as It'll at least take you 4 hrs to explore the park and kanheri caves. Make sure to rest before exploring the caves as well. Since, You'd be tired from cycling and explorithe caves take a good couple of hours. I didn't get to see any waterfalls since I was not visitiin monsoon, but I've heard, visiting here in monsoons are another amazing experience

Walkable distance from Borivali East railway station, or ask anyone or use google map for location, max fare by auto will be 20(by meter).Be aware of rickshaw scammer, they might charged you more for share ride, as by meter charges are cheaper. Best place for outdoor activities, you will have to pay some charges for entering this park. Additional charges are applicable for cycle ride and bus services. Food you can carry, but don’t litter the place, dustbins are available, or else you can eats snacks items provided by the locals who stays inside the national park and sell this snacks for earnings. Do follow the guidelines of the do’s and don’t. For me, best time to visit is rainy season.

In the early 2000s a road, as proposed, would have cut through the park. Animal activist Tarun Nayar went to court to halt this project. The lack of space in Mumbai has pushed residential colonies right up to the park boundary. This boundary is poorly fenced and wild animals often wander into human habitations. Slums have mushroomed around the park as well. Corruption among local politicians and Mumbai's influential builder lobby are commonly seen as responsible for a perceived shrinking of the park. In June 2004, leopards were responsible for the deaths of 20 humans within the span of a week. This was not the first attack: for the past 10 years, there have been attacks attributed to leopards stalking children and adults outside the park fringes. After an outcry was raised and the situation reached alarming proportions, eight leopards were caught and relocated. The leopard threat still continues in and around Thane district today with repeated sightings as well as attacks on pets and humans. On 16 July 2012, a seven-year-old girl was killed in Mulund right outside her home by a leopard. A year later, a 40-year-old woman was attacked and killed by a leopard in Bhiwandi, Thane City in 2013. Five days later, a 14-year-old shepherd survived a leopard attack in the same region. In 2014, a two-year-old child went missing from Ghoong village in Wada.August 2015 saw four leopard attacks in Thane city.In one incident, a leopard and her cub dragged a one-year-old.

Nice and fresh natural place. Must visit and take experience of morning fresh air... Kids can enjoy a lots here... Main attractions are 1. Kanheri Caves 2. Lion & Tiger Safari 3. Boating 4. Nature Information Center (NIC) 5. Mini Train Ride (Vanrani) 6. Upcoming Battery Operated Ride (Photo attached) All the above must visit. Specially in Monsoon its really awsome. We can not believe that such place is situated near Mumbai. BEST buses are available on sundays till Kanheri Caves. But in the month of June Battery Operated cars looks like Horse ride may start, that time normal car may not be allowed in the park in order to avoid pollution. Kids can enjoy Lion and Tiger Safari too by seeing real lion and tiger. Boating is also enjoyable. Kids park n garder also there. There is arrangement of staying also. Must contact administrative office for the same.

Post Covid the national park is open for visitors. Enjoy a day out there u will feel good there. *Monday closed* Timings are same as mentioned on site. Pros: *Can enjoy outside In open with kids. *Mini Train ride for kids *Jungle safari in bus *Playing park for kids *Cycling allowed *Wild Animals for kids to watch *Outside food allowed *Crowd was ok ok as compared to Covid restrictions but u get some peaceful time to relax. *You have to walk walk n walk *If u have senior citizens u can take the car inside upto Play park area. * Take your mats, food , water , ball etc. And enjoy with kids (much necessary for kids after lockdown) Cons: *Jungle safari is limited n they show one caged lion n 2-3 tigers. (No open safari in core area) *Train ride is also so - so they show only few peacocks and spotted deers. *No shop for refreshments only few local vendors selling fruits chat, chips, sugarcane juice and water. *Kanheri caves are closed temporarily due to Covid. *Boating is also closed. *Parking fee is quite high 200 for four wheeler

Nature park within Mumbai is a rare find; such a relaxing place to go to, specially during winter. Staff is also cordial. Safari sucks. Sad to see just a couple of tigers and lions in small enclosures like show pieces. Large playing areas. Caves are fun too. Lake is quite scenic. And last but not the least, cycling is not to be missed.

  • 4/5 Neerav P. 3 years ago on Google
Great place for a group picnic. However, take note... No vehicles allowed inside, no Kanheri Caves yet, no Lion Safari yet. Only Tiger Safari, Mini Train & Boating are on.

I loved this place and it was a place to hang out with family. You will get pleasing view and beauty of nature there. But I would like to suggest one more thing that they have decided to visit this place for the first time, please do not book tickets to see lions and tigers. I am saying this because we went there but there were no pairs of lions and tigers there.

Two wheeler parking costs inr 50 and entry fee per adult is inr 70. The entry fees for boating, lion and tiger safari, etc. are different. Kanheri cave is supposed to open from 1st of Feb. ‘21.

The parking charges are very high. It costs 50 rupees for 2 wheeler and 200 rupees for 4 wheeler. The park closes at 6.30 pm .The toy train ticket price charges are 61 rupees for adult. Children below 5 have free entry to train. The park charges are 70 rupees for an adult. As such it's a good family place.

I took my daughter on 31/01/2020 to SGNP . 2 wheeler parking is charged @ 50 and 4 wheeler parking is charged at 200. Entry fees is 70 INR per adult and 37 per child between age of 5-12. Boating is available except Monday . Charges for boating are 70 rs for twin sharing and 143 for four seater time allowed is 15 minutes. Lion safari in which we could see one lion one lioness and two tigers. The safari is charged for 94 rs per adult. There is facility of mini train ( we couldn't do it cause of time issue). There is lot of ground to cover. We could see deers lot of them for that need to roam around walking. Eve time is best to visit Gandhi tekdi where sunset can be seen nicely. Lot of pics can be clicked only thing is that it is at height and have to climb stairs. Overall good experience!

Playing areas & park are maintained well. Parking space is available for 2 & 4 wheelers, though price for 4 wheelers is pretty steep ₹200/-. Boating is really the only good time we had. Safari & Train ride is a complete showdown. Nothing much to see except 2 lions & 3 tigers along with Deers which u see otherwise also roaming in the Park. When I visited cars were not allowed inside so need to walk down alot to reach places. Not worth a penny spent on each of them.

  • 3/5 Prashant J. 3 years ago on Google
A very relaxing and rejuvenating place. Main concern here is transportation inside the park. I know private vehicles are not allowed inside, but goverment has good opportunity to use electric vehicles and generate good amount of revenue from the same. Now the only option is best buses which are less in frequency and mainly polluting as they run on CNG. The park can be renovated for kids so they can play around and relax. Also the souvenir shop should be made more prominent and accessible to people so they have good income generation there as well.

It’s more like a large park than a national park as the entry now restricted to areas near the gate. You can’t travel much inside the park and access to Kanheri caves is also restricted. The park could be maintained better.

National park is good but one thing I don't like that in park they take money for personal cycle and tickets is little bit more

I love this place. Rules are very strict.. follow the rules and enjoy the park

  • 4/5 Prit S. 3 years ago on Google
Park experience is good. However, social distancing norms are not enforced. Garbage bins are few and far between so during heavy rush days, cleanliness is compromised. Otherwise a good place for a break outside of city hustle and bustle.

  • 5/5 Sharique K. 1 year ago on Google
One of the biggest wildlife reservoir within a city. You can enjoy pollution free and fresh air. Enjoyment facilities like Boating, Lion Safari and Toy Train ride are also available. There are big parks for playing and shelters provided for families to sit. You can see huge and healthy lions and tigers in Lion Safari. Deers and monkeys can be seen roaming around the entire park. At night, after the park closes, leopards are also seen on roads. It's a very good family picnic destination if you're looking for an entire day trip.

Good place to spend a day with family. Lots of open space. But avoid tiger and lion safari. It's a waste of money;I personally don't recommend it. If u want to explore the whole place in a day. Do visit from early in the morning. Boat ride was fun and the fare is reasonable. Don't visit in the month of May. Be prepared to walk a lot. But it's worthy to get tired trekking in SGNP. Do visit

A great place to go if you love nature and exercise. You can hire a bicycle go boating ...Kanheri Caves is an amazing maze of caves at various levels. The deer and monkeys are a treat for the young ones.

Great place to visit, the area is blessed with Greenery which is beyond the city lights and the Natural and fresh air will boost your lungs well. The only thing to keep in mind is avoid being trapped by the cycle Rental Shops outside the park. They are thugs. Better rent off a cycle after entering the park. There will be a huge price difference.

Awesome place superb experience this is my 6th time adventure you can visit with family too but visit only in little heavy rainfall Fair Boating, tiger and leopard safari, Kanheri Caves are the main attractions. Tickets for the Entry: Rs. 75 Tickets for boating: Rs. 100 Tickets for Tiger Safari: Rs 100 Ticket for kanehri caves :- 25

A very good place to visit especially for monsoons. U may visit this place with your family friends or partner.....U are surely expected to get mesmerized by the nature and scenery when u visit kahneri caves.... There are 100+ caves up there. There is also a tiger safari and lake boating and a frangnace park, the best part about this is cycling with ur friends and exploring new areas in this park...U can enjoy guava, watermelon delights and many other foods. Specially recommend to visit this especially during monsoons

best time to go here is in the morning when it opens. best mode of travel by metro, 5 minute walk from the nearest metro station. CARRY CASH because there is no NETWORK there no matter what sim you are using.. entry fee is rs 80, carry water bottles/energizers/ something to eat, sunscreen, good pair of shoes because you're going to be walking a lot. there are cycles available on rent with a deposit of 300 and fee of rupees 80 for a few hours. if you prefer going only the kanheri caves the best way to reach kanheri caves is take the bus available inside with a walk of 2 minutes after entry. going inside kanheri caves there is a fee of rupees 25. if you prefer going other places then there are vans available. you can go there with your own bicycles. do not take the bicycles available outside of SGNP. there is a canteen inside, must try their bread cutlet. do not forget to carry cash.

Living next to Sanjay Gandhi National Park is like having nature on speed dial, Best place for all nature enthusiasts. The incredible beauty of Sanjay Gandhi National Park is not to be missed out; with its magnificent trees and tranquil lake, this park is a paradise for photographers. Lush greenery & serenity all around, you’ll also find variety of beautiful birds chirping around. Be sure to support the local vendors selling tasty treats such as raw mango, imli, kakdi, and bor. And for the best way to experience the park, rent a cycle and enjoy a scenic tour. Kaneri Caves is one of the main highlight place to visit, Plan your date with Nature at Sanjay Gandhi National Park. To beat the crowds start your day off right with a peaceful morning stroll, as the park opens bright and early at 7:45 AM. #LocalGuideMumbai #DevishaJatakia #PlacesToVisitInMumbai

Scenic garden with a lot to do. Rely reasonable & not heavy on the pocket. Cyclying my way to the Kahneri was an experience I'm going to cherish for a long time.

We thought the place opens at 9am. But learnt that for walkers it's open by 6 am. You can plan like wise. It's amazing that Mumbai has a vast green land inside the city. We reached here by 8.30am. There were very good maharashtrian breakfast options just in front of the main gate. These are small food trucks with pocket friendly yet tasty food. Entry ticket fee is rs85 per person. We started to caves which takes an hour to cover by walk, boating which we skipped, safari we did not go, the toy train is not functioning. We spent almost 3-4 hours to cover via bus. You can opt for cycling as well if you have lot of time to kill. Beware of monkeys here they snatch food from your hand. Its not mandatory to visit this park as there is nothing to be amazed of. It's a one time visit. Caution- the battery vehicle inside charge 50rs per person to commute from 1 point to other. Bus charges rs20 or so per person. There are refilling spots in every point. Plastics are allowed inside with a deposit money of Rs 100. We can bring back those plastics to get back the deposit. Interesting way to keep it clean.

My visit to Sanjay Gandhi National Park left me with mixed feelings. While the park itself boasts natural beauty and diverse wildlife, a few aspects of the safari experience were disappointing. The highlight of the visit was the jungle safari, but the hefty fee for a bus tour to view tigers and lions felt excessive, considering the limited interaction with the animals. The experience lacked the immersive quality I anticipated, with the animals viewed only from a distance. Another drawback was the absence of a canteen for lunch. Visitors should be prepared with their own meals or snacks, as the park lacked on-site dining options. This limitation can be inconvenient for those looking to spend an entire day exploring the park.

Was able to explore 70+ caves out of 109 caves without much indications by any security i.e.: self exploration possible and easy. Good and well maintained road way
