Sondai fort trek is just 15 kms from Karjat . You can reach at start point by car or bike . Here you have small parking area along side of road for 7 to 8 cars . You can ask for guide from nearby village. Villagers will help you to get guide from sondewadi . Trek is medium type . We started climbing at 7.45 am in morning and reached top of fort by 9 am . You can see beautiful Morbe dam and hills of Matheran from top of hill. You can climb down in 45 minutes. We reached at parking area at 10 am .

Relatively easy trek. Can reach on the top in one and half hours or two hours. No steep climbing except few steps at the end which is also easy. Nice views from the top. Can be slippery in the monsoon and or rains.

Nice and great place for quick trek. Even new trekkers can attain the summit. Straight forward road. Last part of the trek needs to ascend steep railing steps so need to be careful. Ensure you carry lots of water, have good shoes and camera (for photography) 😜 . At top, there is open temple and view is breathing taling. Overall great place for a 4-5 hrs (total time with travelling) trek from Mumbai. Buy water, buttermilk, cucmeber, lemon juice from locals selling enroute.

Easy trek for beginners. Close to mumbai, near karjat..1.5hr drive max. Relatively easy to climb and takes about 1-1.5hr to get to the top. Final climb through a ladder. Best to go during monsoons. Lot of parking at the base (paid parking). Didn’t find any stalls to eat there so carry your own food/water

Another Easy hike in the Karjat - Matheran circuit, this place is 20 min from Karjat Station. There are multiple base points with ample parking options. The hike is moderate, one can reach the top point i.e. the temple in 60-75 min from the base point. Gets little challenging during monsoon because of slippery surface

After a gap of many many years decided the start some trekking activity to get healthier, it is a very small and easy trek, and i need to increase my endurance starting with smaller treks, so decided to go to sondai fort. On week days almost all the stalls are closed, so carry enough water. The place is very very nice, people are nice. We met with some local villagers while we were near the top. We became friends. They had come to celebrate birthday, every year on that day the come there and pray. We along with them cleaned the surrounding, then cleaned and painted the idols, the allowed us in their aarti to god, then we prepared tea and bhel, it was a very nice day, Visit this place when you can, you get a very good view.

Nice and easy trek. Some part is a bit tough but do take rest when you feel so and some part of trek is slippery, do take care at those places. Best visiting time is monsoon. Views to the village side are admirable and stunning. It took 40-50mins to reach top and 30mins to return. Loved it.
